The first wave of darkness hit us hard. There were grunts and noises of pain all around me. I gritted my teeth and pushed on. The creature Amren had told us how to fight the fog. We needed to feel for the heart.
As cryptic as that was Cassian had trained the few warriors in pitch darkness and attack a person based on the sound of the heart. Warriors including myself and a couple of the girls he was training. So I steadied myself and listened.
There! In front of me I heard the faint sound of an unregulated beating heart. I lashed out with my blade and it was met with a soft squish and a loud roar. Immediately the darkness around me let up a little before it was covered again. Not a lot of them then.
But I felt dizzy, and I fell into my mind, too quick to call Rhys for help.
I woke up in bed, surrounded by Rhys arms. I jerked up and looked at my surroundings. I was in my room. In my night gown. Rhys's eyes fluttered open
"Darling are you alright?" "No" I climbed out of bed and looked outside into the city. Rhys sat up now.
"Feyre what's wrong?" "I-I was just in the war again fighting against the creatures and- "he gave me a worried look. "Darling it must have been a nightmare, that was weeks ago. Do you want to talk about it?" Weeks? No, it couldn't have been that long I was just there.
"How long was I asleep?" Maybe that was what that feeling was, was I in a coma? Rhys scrunched his brows in confusion "I'm not sure darling, 9 hours?"
No no no that didn't make any sense. "Rhys, I don't remember anything from after that war."
He stood up and walked over to me, embracing me in his arms. I laid my head on his chest and let him run small circles on my back. I scrunched my nose, his smell was different, had he not showered lately? "We'll figure this out Feyre, together." I looked up into his eyes and he gave me a small smile. But something was off about it. It seemed too animal like and his eyes to glossy. I gave him a small smile back and called to him through the bond. No answer.
I wiggled out of his embrace and walked over to my desk. I let down my walls and screamed down the bond
Rhys
Rhys please
Answer me
I don't want to do this
Don't make me
But as the tears rolled down my cheeks and still not answer I grabbed my letter opener on my desk, whirled around and flung it at Rhys. It landed in his throat and blood began to rush out. I broke down in a sob and made a run for the door. I flung it open and ran into what I thought would be the hallway, but it was only black, and I could not stop myself as I ran through it.
I hit the ground hard and gasped for air. Where was I? I closed my eyes and concentrated. The screams slowly returned, and I realized was back on the battlefield. What in the cauldron was that!?
