Before
"Spinel..." Was all I was managed to say before my eyes felt heavy... This can't be it right... Is this what it feels like to move on...? N-No I knew that wasn't it! I'm not done! but it was too heavy to think... All I could do was try to keep my eyes open, staring at the pink heart on the ground. I miss her already... I miss her so much.

My eyes shut slowly into a deep slumber. My whole body going limp.

Ugh... my head...
Sitting up slowly I rub my aching temple as I scan around the room. Okay. I remember fighting with Spinel with a... beta rejuvenator, as she called it. It hit me in the side sending this shock throughout my body, paralyzing me. Spinel also got hit with it... wait SPINEL?! Sh-she poofed! And I'm in my bed...?!! That means she must be back already!
Quickly I throw the covers off me and rush to stand up but pain causes me to hunch forward and fall on the floor. Wh-what the?! SH!... Grunting in pain I hold my side desperately, tears trickling out of my eyes. "S-Spinel!!" I cried out, being alone right now is something I don't want... I don't know what's happening... I just need someone! Anyone.
"Spinel! Please! Someone!?"
"You know me?..."
Opening my eyes in a panic I turn to the door to see Spinel... But she was different. Her Pink hair was even brighter than before and was in two pigtails shaped like hearts. The black marks down her eyes have vanished and overall her style became more round and adorable. Though her gem seemed to be upside down... .ugh? right side up into an actual heart.
"Wh-what... Spinel? Are you playing a game with me?"
"Oh! Games! I love games! What game ya wanna play?!" Instantly her eyes light up as she runs towards me, smiling from ear to ear. "Though..." Tapping her chin goofily the playful gem glances down at my stomach "I don't think you're really gonna be able to? I found you sleeping on the floor with a weird pink mark on your side." Giggling she talked even more "I never knew it could be comfy on the floor... I tried to join you but I didn't get it all, so I moved ya here instead! See much better!"
"Th-thanks..." A pink mark? Focusing at my side there was seeming to be like a scar of some sort. It was weird to look at but it was very uncomfortable. Any sort of movement seems like it sent a small wave of shock throughout where the wound was. Guess that what happens when you get hit with an alien weapon... "So you don't know who I am... Correct"
"Nope! No clue! I think I don't anyways?" She tilts her head, walking around me trying to take a good look to see in anything clicked. "Hmm..." Tapping her chin she stretches her face really close to mine. "I don't remember you but I like being near you? Thats all I got!"
"This can't be good..." I whisper to myself before speaking out loud "well, I'm (Y/N). I guess we were best friends before you lost your memory"
"Wowie! A best friend! I never had a best friend before! Spinel's eyes sparkle in delight. "Ugh... What's a best friend exactly??"
Getting up slowly, the small pink gem looks at me in wonder, waiting for me to talk. "Mmm, I guess it's when two people care for each other and try to make one another happy and support one another as you both grow and change? Thats sort of a rundown of it."
"That's sounds so cool! Well, a pleasure to meet you my new best friend (Y/N)!" Bowing down the gem tips an invisible hat in a gentleman way. I wasn't used to all of this... Maybe Steven would know what happened? I sure do hope so. While she was really sweet like this, I missed my Spinel.
"Yeah. Nice to meet you too." Awkwardly sitting up I put myself back on the edge of the bed. It seemed to be less painful than before but I don't seem to be able to do anything physical at the moment. Whats can I do to make this the easiest "... Hey, ughh Spinel?
"Yesss best friend!?"
"I have something cool to show you, another friend. But I can't exactly walk at the moment. Would you be able to help?"
"Like a adventure! OOO YES! let's go let's go let's go!" In a quick swift moment, Spinel wraps her arms around me, lifting me into the air until she was carrying me bridal style. I wasn't complaining but it was still very embarrassing, though this will have to do for the time being. "Where to, buckaroo?"
And just like that, I would point in the direction I want to go with Spinel following my finger like some game, holding me in a fit of giggles. We stopped time to time to talk about all the interesting things that caught Spinel's attention. It was super adorable how she saw positivity in everything, completely different from the Spinel that I know. I wasn't saying that I had a preference. Spinel was always going to be someone I wanted to be there for no matter, but I knew that I had to get my Spinel back. For now, though, I will do my best to make her happy.
Small Time Skip
Finally making it to Steven's place Spinel slowly sets me down in front of the door where I ask to be. She seems to be having a good time, standing still with a bounce in her leg. I'm glad at least one of us doing alright.
Knocking on the door I hold my breath slightly not knowing how the others will react. Is this a normal thing they deal with. Can anyone help her? I-is she fully gone?
Creeping open, Pearl looks down at me with a soft smile "(Y/N)! Welcome for coming over another day! Finally ready to start those defence classes I always bug you about?"
"N-no... I actually have really bad news"
"mmm yes, I hear Amethyst saying that she left without you. Is everything alright? I was going to come help or check up on you but we had something come up. Were you able to find her?"
"Yes. Can't you just see for yourself?!..." Swooping my head to emphasize my point I notice she vanished. "S-Spinel?!?! Spinel where did you go?! " With my full body turned away from I call out in a panic. Where did she go?!
"AHH!"
Jumping in spot me and Pearl both heard a scream from upstairs. O-oh no... that was Steven!
"STEVEN!!" We both call out in sync as we run upstairs, Garnet and Amethyst right behind us after hearing the commotion as well. Though I struggled to get up. Clutching my side in pain as I tripped a few steps along the way, doing my best to ignore it.
"What's wro-!!" Pearl screams out but stops when she sees her.
All the crystal gems freeze seeing Spinel with arms wrapped around Steven. Glaring at him in a sadden confusion state.
"Spinel! Let go of him!" I dash forward but instantly regret my choice and stumble forward, landing on my knees "Nrg!" I feel Pearl quickly come to my side, placing an arm on my back. She was saying something but I couldn't hear her.
"(Y/N)?..." The hearted gem looks down at me in shock. Loosening her grip on Steven giving him enough time to break free and get dropped to the floor harshly.
"Steven are you alright?" Garnet asks forcefully
"Y-Yeah yeah! Don't worry about me! What about (Y/N)?!"
Everything was going by so quickly I couldn't tell what happening. People were crowding around and staring down at me then to one another worriedly. Spinel... She was just standing there... watching me. She seemed she was hit with grief. Her eyes were watering up looking at me.
"Spinel... No! no please don't cry!" With all my force I get up and go to the small pink gem
"W-why do I feel this way (Y/N)...."
"I don't know..." Bringing her head to face to face mine I give her a shy smile. Bringing her into a hug. Hesitantly she copies what I do, making sure to be careful.
"What happened to the both of you?"
Letting go of Spinel I turn towards Steven "It's a long story..." Side glancing Spinel I continue "It started with a Sythe of some sort"
"The rejuvenator?!" They all say to one another
"Yeah! That! Spinel thought she could... help out by using it but it wasn't a good idea. I did what I had to and tried to take it away from her but got hit by accident." Lifting the side of my top I show them my pink wound. "Spinel afterwards when catching me since the sythe seemed to have made my whole body paralyzed, ended getting hit herself and poofing."
"But we got rid of all of them! I made sure to..."
"It was a beta of some sort?"
"An older model of it? That exists?" Pearl taps her chin, thinking out loud.
"Man!... why does everything have to end up with the sythe with this girl? (Y/N) do you happen to have it with you?"
"N-no... I didn't know where it went to"
"U-umm.." A shy voice speaks up next to me. Spinel was almost hiding behind me, avoiding any eye contact from the crystal gems "I think I may have it..."
"Really? May I please see it?"
Nodding the gem steps forward, reaching into the heart on her chest. Seeming like she was digging around for it.
"Okay here!" Pulling her arm out she was, in fact, holding the weapon. "I thought you dropped it when you were asleep on the floor. I must have forgotten to give it back. Oopsie..."
"Thank you Spinel." Grabbing it from her I hand it over to Steven "Be careful with it, please..."
With a short nod, he opens the rejuvenator after making sure the others were a good distance away. Spinel seemed to even have stood in front of me protectively.
"Is it just me... Or, is that thing looking a bit different from the last time I remember" Amethyst speaks up from the chilling silence
"No, it's definitely different..." Steven hums in confusion. "(Y/N)... Spinel wasn't trying to hurt you right?"
Opening my mouth to refuse but someone beats me to it.
"NO! I wouldn't hurt (Y/N)! Spinel yelled out angrily. She was death glaring Steven in a cold manner. If looks could cut I would have feared for Steven's life. "Wait... I..." Instantly we all look at her in confusion. Even she herself seemed stunned she burst out like that "I-i... I don't know why I said that?..." Shifting her head up she gives me a regretful glance.
"It's like she still has her old feeling?" The curly hair boy speaks out "But it's weird how she didn't think of me as her best friend... Spinel, do you know me?"
"No. I don't know what to think of you."
"What do I make you feel?"
"Angry. Confused... Like I want to hurt you... but stay away from you and for some reason, also be with you. For the others. I don't like them. They make me uneasy" Backing to me she holds my arm tightly
"Gee. Thank, don't I feel special" Amethyst rolls her eyes while crossing her arms "Hey Garnet, see anything happening?"
The fusion shakes her head gently. "No. I see too many options."
"What's that suppose to mean?" Pearl exclaims out in shock. It wasn't normal for Garnet to not know what was happening either.
"We don't know what she remembers or not. The Beta rejuvenator must not have whipped everything and it's showing me rivers of what she remembers and what she doesn't. What she can remember and what she chooses to ignore" Taking off her glasses she gazes at the two of us.
"All I know is that no matter what I see. (Y/N) is there with her."
Me...? Well, of course, I see myself with Spinel no matter what happens.
