__ Nexo Knights __
Betrayal sat herself down upon the giant boulder that had been used to seal the Ninjas inside the now pitch-black darkness of the cave.
She had been left behind to guard the entrance just encase those pesky Knights showed up.
Her long scythe sitting listlessly in her hand as she absent-mindedly twirled it, her lantern sitting next to her the eerie glow from the lantern projected the symbol of betrayal on to the rock wall behind her.
Betrayal tugged on her long, grey, full-body hooded cloak. As the evening sky slowly started to darken.
Betrayal let out a depressive sigh. Despite great efforts, destiny cannot be averted. She truly hated that word it made her so depressed just hearing that one word.
Though when your up against the wall, plagued by your deepest darkest moments despair can be a powerful motivator in its own way.
To be fair, that wasn't hard. She hated the quiet moments to herself that became all too frequent of late. Being alone meant she would need to confront painful memories.
Painful memories of watching fellow Monsters and herself being tortured at the hands of Hela, losing Monsters to Knights, the crown and the Wizards Council... to name just a few. Coupled with no one to trust, she busied herself with her training and when she caught up with that, she did it all over again. Just waiting for the day she'd finally break...
The Ninjas groaned as they tried to push the heavy boulder away from the entrance but it wouldn't budge. Someone was holding it in place somehow. It was the only explanation.
"Cole you're a ghost! Go through the rock and deal with whoever is on the other side." Jay hissed at Cole. The Master of Earth awkwardly chuckled at this and quickly walked through the boulder.
"Did he forget he could do that?" Lloyd questioned the others who all let out an annoyed groan.
Cole's eyes went wide at seeing the depressed-looking Betrayal sitting on top of the boulder keeping his teammates trapped inside.
The Master of Earth dove back behind the boulder, using it for cover as he tried to stabilize his breathing.
"It's (Y/N)!" Cole shouted to his teammates as made it through the boulder. The sounds of his voice viciously hitting the cavern walls. There was a spike fear and Cole hesitated to speak.
The Ninjas started yelling at each other about what to do.
"Well, one of the parts of her." Cole added quickly ignoring his teammates yelling.
If it wasn't for the fact he was a ghost Cole was pretty sure this would have given him a possible literal heart attack.
This one looked harmless despite her scythe but she gave him an eerie feeling that she couldn't be trusted.
"What are you waiting for? Go talk to her!?" The Master of Lightning yelled at Cole. "Oh, sure easy for you to say." Cole hissed back at his best friend. "Brothers let's not fight." Zane pleaded with the pair.
"Zane. Buddy, we love you like a brother, but this isn't fighting. This is panicking!" Jay yelled the last part at the Master of Ice.
"Ok. What do we do then?" Cole asked Zane impatiently and ignoring Jay's outburst. "Open a line of communication." Zane suggested to the Master of Earth. "Great plan Zane. How is he going to do that!?" Kai coldly demanded. "She hates us!"
"It's not like you haven't given her a reason to." A voice inside his head reminded him. Anger at himself burned in his chest, almost suffocating him.
The Master of Fire didn't need a reminder that (Y/N) still viewed him as her enemy.
"What would I even say? Hi, I'm Cole, one of your enemies?" Cole hysterically questioned the Master of Ice. "Cole's right Zane. What do we do?" Nya questioned the Nindroid hoping that he could come up with a plan to save them.
Betrayal stared up at the night sky while she laid on her back. The stars heavily dotted the sky. She let out a mournful sigh.
"Hi (Y/N)." Cole said testing the waters of communication as he stepped out from the boulder once again. "If you are referring to me. My designation is Betrayal." Betrayal half-heartedly informed the Master of Earth, her sombre uninterested tone catching him off guard.
"Right... Could you get off the boulder so I can move it?" Cole politely asked hoping that she would see reason with his request.
"No, my orders are to trap any intruders until I am summoned." Betrayal sighed a strong lack-lustre tone in her voice and her solum eyes glued to the stars above.
"Summoned? Summoned by who?" Cole questioned her. "By the Elm of the Dark Realm." Betrayal replied honestly there was no point in giving this spectre the comfort of lies.
The Master of Earth noted that Betrayal seemed to die a little on the inside when she said that name. Her eyes half-lidded in fatigue. She looked so tired of fighting. So defeated. As though she'd given up long ago.
"Are you ok?" Cole asked Betrayal. It was a risk but his team wasn't known for always thinking things through.
Betrayal didn't even acknowledge the Master of Earth this time just stared listlessly at the night sky.
Cole was stumped he never could get a solid read on (Y/N)'s emotions, tightly locked down as they were. But he could tell something was very wrong.
Cole sighed running his hand through his hair. Then he turned walking into the boulder to talk with his teammates.
"We have a problem." Cole informed the others who let out a course of complaints. "(Y/N)- I mean Betrayal." Cole corrected himself. "Is sitting on top of the boulder and refusing to move until she's summoned by someone called the Elm of the Dark Realm." Cole quickly reported.
"Wait. Dark Realm? As in The Realm of Madness. As in the place, my dad went to get four arms." Lloyd wearily questioned Cole. There was a cold silence amongst the team of Ninjas as they all turned to look at Cole.
"I don't know." Cole honestly answered the Green Ninja. "This just got a whole lot worse." Nya said out loud to herself. Jay quietly nodded along with that statement.
The Master of Earth nervously strolled back out to talk to Betrayal. Betrayal slowly pushed herself up into sitting position and looked down at the ghost trying to get her attention once more.
"Hi um, me again." Cole said with awkward demeanour. If Betrayal had the energy she probably would have rolled her eyes at the spectre by now.
"Why are you here again? Are you truly desperate to be devoured by the Elm of the Dark Realm?" Betrayal asked the persistent ghost.
"What?!" Cole panicked and quickly looked around to see if anyone else was around. But was thankfully relieved that no one was.
"The Elm of the Dark Realm ruthlessly devoured the bodies of humans and sucking out the souls of his enemies via his lantern." Betrayal dully explained, holding up her own lantern for the ghost to see as an example.
The Master of Earth felt fear shoot through his spine. Cole began to make some nervous laughing sounds trying to break the sudden tension. "Why are you laughing? Do you not believe me?" Betrayal half-heartedly questioned Cole.
"Ah..." Cole stammered out as Betrayal stood up holding out her lantern towards the Master of Earth. "I can show you first hand." Betrayal said stepping off the boulder and slowly walked towards Cole. "But you're not going to like it."
Cole stumbled back falling to the ground. An ominous fog started pouring out of the lantern surrounding the Master of Earth. There was a sudden burst of coldness from within the Master of Earth. It was so tight Cole could barely move or breath.
Rage and hatred burned the air. It was so sharp and angry it froze him in place. Cole was suddenly overcome with grief, so much so, that it was suffocating him. Dragging him down into dark waters of depression. The waters were so desperate to keep him. To never let him go. Because... he deserved it.
Within the cold unforgiving mist, Cole witnessed the misdeeds from his past play out before him as figures made of the fog.
His younger self blaming his father for burying himself in his work to cope with the loss of his wife and to cover all the bills.
His younger self running away from school but still lying to his father about where he was and taking the money his father was sending him for the school fees and trips.
His younger self hurting his father by never visiting, taking it out on Jay for having a family that loved him just the way he was, disappointing his father by choosing to steal.
"Just give up, I have. It's not so bad. It hurts a whole lot less than when you fight it." Betrayal coldly informed him.
The coldness tightened around the Master of Earth. It had returned to being a sharp pain in his heart. Cole struggled to break free however he couldn't move.
The mist was desperately grabbing on to him, tighter and tighter. The hold was getting stronger, but also more desperate. It didn't want to let him go.
"I know." Cole replied, wishing he could be shot out into the vacuum of space to escape the shame of this entire revelation and conversation.
Then the memories slipped away as the last of the coldness lost its grasp and Cole fell into an empty darkness.
"We must hurry! Cole's vital signs are showing he is in grave distress!" Zane reported, highly worried about his brother's safety.
The Ninjas shoved the pews of the worship area as leverage to move the massive boulder.
With one final shove, the boulder finally moved and the entrance opened allowing Kai, Nya, Jay, Zane and Lloyd to leapt out to see what was transpiring.
The Ninjas gasped in horror as they saw Cole was being absorbed into the lantern that Betrayal was holding.
The Ninjas launched in to attack but were swallowed by the mist of the lantern. "Let us see your treachery." Betrayal calmly stated as the mists swallowed them. The lantern stopped trying to absorb Cole in favour of viewing their misdeeds.
Instantly, each one fell due to their growing and rather long list of crimes of treachery. The offences inside each of them throbbed to the point where they were almost passing out due to the pain.
Betrayal was surprised to see that one was not affected by the mists of the lantern.
"What is this?" Betrayal asked calmly, cupping Zane cheek in her palm to get a better look at him. Staring right into his stunning ice-blue eyes.
"Pure as snow." Betrayal softly commented. This one had never betrayed anyone, he was literally, pure as snow.
"Please (Y/N), you must stop this. I know we've hurt you but we've come to make things right." Zane pleaded with Betrayal as she removed her hand from his cheek.
"The ghost referred to me by that name." Betrayal said sparing a glance towards the Master of Earth who was curled up on the ground smothered by his betrayals. "But your both mistaken. I'm Betrayal. One of Weapon's avatars of evil." Betrayal coldly stated.
"Then let me tell you who she once was." Zane pleaded as her eyes locked to his once more. "Okay." Betrayal said simply. Still fascinated by the one before her.
"(Y/N) was..." Zane paused, trying to come up with words that would be adequate for who (Y/N) had been. Who she still was. As he stood in front of this dark reflection of her darkest moments.
He needed to make this speech count.
"(Y/N) was someone who lived through so many dark moments, but she never let that stop her. She did what she felt was right. She looked out for people who no one cared about and gave them a chance when no one else would. She judged everyone equally. She was firm yet fair." The Master of Ice hesitated.
"And (Y/N) was also my friend. Not just because our line of work frequently had us working together... but because she was loyal. She was loyal to what she believed in, to whom she believed in. It was that loyalty that prompted her to put herself in danger for the good of others."
"Because that was who she was... That is who you still are and you're worth fighting for." Zane finished his speech.
"I am sorry but you are mistaken. Weapon is simply just that a weapon." Betrayal responded.
"A weapon is not capable of compassion, even if the weapon has some sort of mind of its own but isn't necessarily "alive"; no matter what material they were made of." Betrayal said in her deadpan tone.
"That is simply not true." Zane objected. "You are alive, you are capable of great compassion I have witnessed it."
"You are mistaken." Betrayal countered. "Weapons are made to hurt and kill. They are nothing more than a tool for murder. It is an object."
"Daggers are insidious, axes encourages brutality, staffs are subtle and sophisticated in their corruption, swords and maces serve no more purpose except war." Betrayal dully specified for Zane.
"That is what she was made for, that is what she is. She is what her wilder decides, she kills what she is told to kill, she hurts whatever she is told to hurt. she does not have a choice because she isn't alive. It is a fact and I am sorry if you can not comprehend that." Betrayal coldly proclaimed.
"You are not a weapon. You're (Y/N). An Elemental Master just like us." Zane paused. "It's not your fault you were born to a murderous, powerful tyrant." Zane pleaded with her. There weren't words to express how much he misses her. "You're my friend. Even if you do not remember."
A powerful yet dim beam of light shot up into the night sky cutting their talk short before Zane could make any headway.
"I have been summoned to return." Betrayal stated withdrawing the fog back into her lantern freeing the ninja. Zane's face fell. He had failed to make her understand.
Betrayal started to walk off into the direction of where the beam had come from and leaving the Ninjas behind in the care of Zane.

__ Nexo Knights __
Zane was relieved when Nexo Knights showed up in their vehicles and were able to help him get his weakened family members to somewhere safe while they recuperated. He was even more relieved when he saw their sensei waiting for them, siping his warm tea.
"Sensei!" Lloyd shouted running up to his uncle to give him a big hug. Sensei Wu let out a loud chuckle as Lloyd practically buried himself into his uncle's side. "It is good to see you too, young nephew." Sensei Wu chuckled and softly stroked Lloyd's soft blond hair.
"Sensei you will not believe what we have discovered." Zane exclaimed to his Sensei while bowing to him.
The Ninja's and the Nexo Knights gathered in the control room as Zane explained what they had discovered with the other ninjas adding small details here and there during Zane's explanation.
Zane explained how they had uncovered a prophecy/plan that (Y/N) would be used as the source of great calamity resulting in a battle that would end all things.
"While this is troubling to hear. It is not surprising as the creation of Hela, the Queen of Darkness. This (Y/N)'s destiny has always doomed to darkness from the start." Merlok 2.0 simply stated to those present.
"Shut up! You don't know the first thing about her!" Lloyd shouted at the holographic wizard.
"I know she is the creation of Hela. That is more than enough to discredit her." Merlok replied. "Shut up!" Lloyd roared again. "Nephew. That is quite enough." Sensei Wu scolded Lloyd.
"You shut up, too!" Lloyd shouted at Sensei Wu. "You're just as bad as him." Lloyd declared angerly. "You hated her too, I know what you did!"
"When Zane sacrificed himself the save Ninjago, you blamed her!" Lloyd yelled at his uncle.
The Ninja's let out a gasp and turned to look at their Sensei. "Sensei, that isn't true, is it?" Zane asked his Sensei.
"You blamed her for the team falling apart and Zane demise. You called her the worst person in the realm." Lloyd continued to scream at his uncle.
Sensei Wu looked down in shame. "I'm not excusing my actions. We were grieving, we all said painful things to one and others that couldn't be taken back." Sensei Wu said not meeting his nephew's angry gaze.
"That doesn't make it better!" Lloyd shouted, his fist balled up in anger. "I know it doesn't, nephew. I know it doesn't." Sensei Wu said softly.
"Lloyd, how do you know that?" Nya asked him. "I saw it. In the mist. I saw all of it." Lloyd admitted to the Master of Water.
"Hm." Zane said out loud and placed his hand on his chin. "What are you thinking about?" Jay questioned him. Thankful for any conversation change right now.
"Excuse me, Ava. Can you pull up any images of the Avatars of Evil?" Zane politely requested the computing genius.
Ava nodded and pulled any images they had captured of them on screen.
"What's going on?" Axl asked Cole as he munched away on his giant sandwich. "Zane's onto something." Cole said filling in the giant of a Nexo Knight.
"Cole? Did anything happen when you were with Chaos?" Zane questioned the Master of Earth.
"What exactly do you mean?" Cole asked not understanding what Zane was getting at. Robin quickly butted into the conversation.
"We ended up in Ninjago, that's how you're Sensei and the others got here." Robin abruptly explained to the ninjas.
"Wait!? Others!?" Kai questioned the Knight. "Yes, some of the Serpentine came with us to speak to (Y/N)'s tribe to negotiate basically parental right with the monsters over (Y/N)." Sensei Wu added.
"Oh great! Just when things couldn't get worse!" Jay hysterically laughed.
"Wait?! You went to this Ninja-land?!" Aaron shouted in excitement at Robin. "What was it like? Anything fun? Come on! What was there, little dude?" Aaron started to list off in excitement.
"Ah, should we be concerned about these new arrivals?" Clay questioned the Ninjas."Oh no. They're just like your monsters, just serpent-like and spit crazy venom that dose some freaky stuff. Like, turn you into one of them!" Jay hysterically informed the blue Nexo Knight.
"Oh and Ronin, Dareth and Echo went with them." Sensei Wu added stroking his long white beard.
"Perfect. A cursed thief, a blowhard and a guy that literally falls to pieces are watching them." Jay pitifully laughed, collapsing onto the floor rather dramatically as he did.
Cole rolled his eyes at his best friend at his dramatic behaviour. "Maybe we'll get lucky and the Serpentine will talk some sense into (Y/N)?" Kai offered as some sort of reassurance.
"Or egg her on. Kai, we're not exactly their favourite people." Nya reminded her brother. "I can hope, Nya. I can hope." Kai hissed at his little sister.
The Masters of Fire and Water started to bicker as Jay took over the conversation. "Greed was all giggles and laughter." Jay comments thinking back on the encounter and Zane agreed.
"She also had extraordinary acrobatic skills befitting a ninja." Zane informed Sensei Wu who was standing off to the side stroking his white beard, listing to his student's conversation while studying the holographic wizard.
"(Y/N) really thought they were the same person?" Sensei Wu thought to himself as Merlok 2.0 started to glitch.
Ava let out a sigh. "Sit tight magic man. I'll see what I can do." Ava said typing away at her workstation to fix the wizards programming.
"Please do, Ava." Clay insisted while sparing Merlok a worried glance. "He'll be fine Clay." Macy said patting her friend on the back. "Yeah, not even being blown up stopped him." Axl declared proudly with a mouthful of food. "Oops, shouldn't have said that." Axl said once he got a dirty look from Clay.
"Axl why don't you see what Arron and Lance are up too." Macy insisted trying to subtle hint that Axl should leave.
Axl not understanding said. "Lance is getting a back massage from Denis and Aaron's left to do some stunts on his hoverboard." Before taking another bite out of his meat.
Axl caught wind of what Macy was trying to do when he caught sight of her scary face. "Oh. Sorry." Axl said before leaving.
The Masters of Fire and Water continued to bicker until Zane interrupted them. "Apologies for interrupting but what about your experience with Fear? Was anything out of the ordinary?" Zane questioned the pair.
"We had to live some of our worst fears." Nya bluntly told him, shuddering at the memory of the giant circus dark purple, blue and black striped tent.
"That's not entirely true Nya." Kai pointed out. "At first it was mixed with our fears but it was really her's we were experiencing." Kai tried to explain.
"Kai, please explain." Zane insisted. "Do not leave out anything no matter how small."
"Well at first we wound up in that fortune-teller's tent with a girl that looked just like (Y/N) running the tent." Nya recounted to the best of her ability to the team.
"She read both our fortunes, with those cards." Nya continued. "We tried to ask about (Y/N), How we could find her." Kai blurted out. "But the cards turned up blank."
"The fortune-teller then asked us if our friend existed and to try asking it in a more personal way. We got lucky when we mentioned her birthmark." Nya promptly reported.
"She told us that we'd find her at the dark tower; The former home of the Queen of Darkness, and that price will be expensive. A price you will never think to pay." Nya conveyed what they had been told.
"Then we got separated in that hall of mirrors and those creepy kids that looked a lot like Chaos." Kai added to the story.
"Then the water." Kai gulped in horror. "The angry mob." Nya stated with a shudder.
"It turned into her nightmares." Nya timidly announced. "More like bad memories." Kai responded apprehensively.
"I had to watch what Hela did to her. She was trapped inside a rusty, iron maiden being lowered back under the water. Then she was chained up and lashed with a whip over and over again." Kai said as tears started to flow down his face.
"It was like when Lloyd had shown him some of (Y/N)'s memories with Cyrus Borg's help. Only so much worse." Kai cried breaking down sobbing.
"What I witnessed and experienced was an angry mob, carrying pitchforks and torches, (Y/N) was being dragged through some woods to a tree that stood at the end of the clearing with a noose." Nya described to Zane.
"The mob was shouting discriminatory comments against (Y/N) because of her being part human." Nya informed him while trying to comfort Kai.
"Saying that due to the unconventional nature of her origin; she was to be feed to the Elm of the Dark Realm." Nya finished explaining to the team with tears stream down her face and vomit seized up in her throat.
The team comforted the highly distressed Kai and Nya in a tight group hug.
"It'll be ok." Jay promised the siblings. "We'll fix this somehow. We'll get her back and we can all put this behind us."
"We'll bring her home..."

__ Nexo Knights __
"The journey was long and annoying but now I present to you the Isle of Vile." Chaos proudly declared as they made their way to the front entrance of the Isle of Vile.
"Who goes there?!" Sharkerado; the Moat Stalker of Doom demanded in a booming voice.
"Chaos, and some weird things Weapon needs to see." Chaos declared with a cheeky grin.
When the group of Serpentine, Humans and a Nindroid took one look at Sharkerado; the Moat Stalker of Doom and his weapon the Morning Star of Shadow. They go a pretty good idea of who had trained (Y/N) to use her meteor hammer.
