Draco turned around to face Greyback, horror struck. He, Draco Malfoy, had just been bitten by a werewolf. And now, the creature stood smiling at him, as if he took great pleasure in biting his victims. Draco was horrified. What would his parents say? How would he explain everything to them? He could imagine the scene now : he walks into his home to find his mother stood waiting, a warm smile across her face. His father would be stood in the kitchen, waiting to talk about the dark Lord. And then he would tell them. He imagined the horror on their faces as his mother would turn to Lucius. "get out" she would say and Draco would be gone, left alone with no parents and homeless. He would try to find a new home but no one would want him.
Draco dismissed his thoughts and turned to walk up the street. Rain poured over him as he glumly dragged his feet through puddles, causing some water to get into his shoes. As he came to a large gate, he paused, wondering if there really was much point going in to be kicked out again. But then again, his parents probably would call a search to find him if they didn't see him. He slowly opened the gate and slipped inside, carefully shutting it afterwards.
He paused as he reached for the door handle. Something wasn't right... Oh yeah, he thought. " I'm a werewolf now" Draco pushed the door open to find his mother stood waiting, a warm smile on her face. His father was stood in the kitchen but he seemed to be sadly smiling at Draco. Draco looked back at his mother, who too had changed her smile to be sad. Suddenly she ran forward and grabbed her son, embracing him in a hug.
"It''s alright, Draco. We will get through this." Draco pulled out of his mother's hug. She knew. Did that mean his father knew too?
"This is my fault." Yes, yes he did. Draco looked at him, shocked at what he had said.
"How is it your fault?" Draco asked him. Lucius turned and walked towards the window.
"I failed him. It was the only way of not being killed." Draco looked shocked. " I hope you understand."
"UNDERSTAND? YOU WOULD RATHER HAVE YOUR SON BITTEN BY A FOUL CREATURE AND THEN BECOME ONE AND FAIL AT SCHOOL... NO... NOT EVER BE ALLOWED BACK THAN DIE? YOU ACTUALLY ARE THE WORST FATHER IN THE WORLD! " Draco ran up to his room crying.
The next day was when Draco was supposed to be going into town to collect the things he would need for the next school year.
"Draco? Are you up? It's time to go,"his mother said behind a closed door. Draco ignored her, however, when she carried on knocking he had no choice but to answer her.
"I'm not going."
"But Draco, you need things for school."
" I said I'm not going." Just then, there was another knock at the door, only, it wasn't as soft as his mother.
"Draco Malfoy. May I come in?" Draco looked shocked. Could Albus Dumbledore be at his door wanting to speak to him?
"Will you open the door please. We need to talk about a certain matter." Draco slowly got up and walked over to his door. When he got there, his professor was stood waiting for him,a wide smile across his face.
"Now, Malfoy. I have heard a little incident went on last night with a certain werewolf. Is that correct?"
"Yes professor."
"And I also understand that you have been bitten by the certain werewolf. Is that correct?" Draco nodded. Dumbledore carried on smiling at him.
The next day was when he was supposed to leave for Hogwarts but Draco had a really bad feeling in his stomach. Dumbledore had agreed to come pick up and then apparate closer to the school so he could show him the shrieking shack and to get his monthly routine sorted. However, time was ticking on and there was no sign of the headmaster.
