The doctor placed his hands on your shoulder, his eyes pleading as he bent down just a little to be eye to eye with you. Blue eyes bore into yours.
"(Y/N), whatever you do, do not leave the TARDIS."
You frowned and placed your hand on his cheek, running your thumb along the skin. At any time you would have listened to the doctor, but you felt something was different about this time.
"What are you going to do?" You whispered.
"It doesn't matter, just... promise me?"
You sighed but nodded, pressing your forehead to his.
"Alright..." you whispered, "I promise... but promise you'll come back..."
The doctor gave you a rare smile and nodded his head, he pressed a kiss to your forehead and pulled away, handing you his screwdriver which made you even more worried.
"If I'm not back in two hours, use this in the port just over there and leave."
The doctor pointed to the port and you gulped but nodded, sadly watched as the doctor turned his back and left the TARDIS.
"Please come back..." you pleaded quietly.
Pacing around the console, you waited anxiously. The TARDIS hummed sadly and you placed a hand on her console.
"He'll be alright..."
You prayed you were right, you couldn't imagine a life without the doctor in it. A life without your quirky, odd, stubborn doctor... it seemed... boring... dull.
After the two hours were nearly up, tears welled up in your eyes as you slowly walked to the port with the screwdriver in hand, that's when the door flung open.
Spinning around, you came face to face with the doctor, smoke entered through the door and an orange like glow cane in until he closed the door. He as ash in his hair, his face was dirty and his clothes a bit burnt.
"Doctor.."
The man said nothing as he walked over, and in a swift movement he hugged you tightly which made you freeze before you hugged back.
"I thought you didn't like hugs..." you joked softly.
"This is an exception..." he mumbled.
The doctor buried his face into your shoulder and stood there for a minute before he pulled away and headed to the console.
"Let's get going then shall we?"
You nodded your head and walked around, standing by his side quietly.
"What happened doctor?"
"Don't worry about it."
Glancing up, you saw his eyes were pained but his face was pleading you not to ask anymore, so you didn't. You simply rested your head on his arm and sighed softly.
"Don't do that again..."
"Of course not, I'm sorry."
The doctor kissed your head once more and turned around.
"Let me get changed, then we'll head out. I heard this planet has a beautiful forest."
You grinned and he grinned back as he walked away, and you let your smile fall. Walking to the door, you went to open it when a small bit of burnt paper caught your eye.
Bending down, you picked it up and raised it to your eyes so you could read it.
He set fire to the world but never let a flame touch her.
"Oh Doctor..." you whispered, "what did you do..?"
