"Steve pleaseee"Tony whined.
"Tony for the sixth time this month. I'm not going out with you"the blonde rolled his eyes ad glued them back to the newspaper.
Tony huffed. He had tried everything. No really everything.
But Steve wouldn't say yes.
"But Steveee please it's gonna be fun just one date and if you don't enjoy it i'll leave you alone forever"Tony said.
"Tony- i'm 100 perc- okay 99 percent into women"
"Ha!"Tony yelled and pointed at him. "See I could be that one percent!"
Once again the blonde rolled his eyes. "no thanks"
Tony sighed.
As a kid he had looked up to Captain America so much. As a teenager he was a literal fanboy.
And now where he finally had his Captain America he wouldn't even give him the chance to go on one stupid date.
Tony looked like a kicked puppy. Usually no one would reject him and wow this hurt.
But the brunette of course didn't give up. Without another word he rushed down into his lab and thought about a new way.
Three days later the avengers had a team night. They sat and ate when Tony suddenly got up.
"Oh my god Steve!"
"what?!"
"look at you oh my god we need to get you to the hospital!"Tony gasped and walked over to Steve.
The other avengers looked at him in a confused way. "What are you talk-"
"holy shit are you okay cap"
"yes i'm fine Tony what are you ta-"
"wait here"Tony rushed into a bathroom and came back with a wet towel. He looked at Steve's head and pressed it onto it.
"Damn wonder you're still alive"
"tony.. what is it?"Steve asked in a worried tone.
"nothing it's just.. damn it must've hurt when you fell from heaven"Tony grinned and sat down again like nothing happened.
Steve blushed.
He heard "awww"s coming from his team which made the blushing worse.
"Is this another way to ask me out?"the blonde asked kind of angrily.
"Yep. Please Cap.. this is the last time i'm trying. Here in front of the team. Come on.."
All the avengers, yeah even Bucky looked at him in a judging way.
"Tony I already tol-"
"Steve don't you dare"Natasha added with a glare.
"If you do that you're probs going to hell buddy"Bucky said.
"You're supposed to be on my side jerk"Steve snapped and crossed his arms.
"hello? have you seen how fucking adorable that was. we're you present?"
They continued to argue like Tony wasn't in the room. The brunette felt hus heart stitch at the fact that Steve would have said no again.
After a few more minutes Steve put up his hands in defense. "fine! fine. i'll go on ONE date with you. pick me up"Steve groaned and left.
Tony's heart skipped a beat.
The morning after Tony stood in front of Bucky's door and knocked softly.
He walked in and saw Bucky kissing Natasha in his room laying on top of her.
Don't worry the clothes we're still on.
Bucky looked up and got so scared that he fell of the bed.
Nat laughed at him from the bed.
Tony shook off what they we're about to do and looked at them.
"i need your help"
Twenty minutes later Bucky was walking up and down in his room and Natasha was sitting in front of Tony.
"You've been to so many dates. What's so different now?"
"It's captain america"Tony whispered and Nat smiled at him with a chuckle.
"Also Steve is old and odd i don't know what he's into-"
"If he's so odd then why are you so desperate to go out with him"
Tony frowned. "Because I love him"he mumbled. It was true. Tony had loved him since he was young.
First it was fanlove and now it slowly transitioned into.. romantic love.
Bucky and Natasha looked at him.
Natasha smiled and turned back to her lover. She said something in russian and Bucky joined.
"Hey! Don't talk behind my back"
"We just argued about how adorable you are"
The billionaire rolled his eyes.
"So how do I date this grandpa"
"Start the date with a hey and end it with a kiss. But only if he looks like he wants a kiss. Don't ask him to come home with you after. And wooing hell no stark that's a no go"Tony was internally taking notes at what Bucky was saying.
"Three dates, then you can do it"
Natasha looked at him.
"Pft he's right you guys are really odd"she said.
"I know right?!"Tony agreed and Nat chuckled. "Okay where should I take him?"
"He probably doesn't like being seen with men in public. I don't know. Make a movie night. Eat in the tower or something"
Tony nodded and thanked the two ex-assassins.
Later that day he softly knocked at Steve's door. The older man opened and Tony gasped.
He was wearing loose pants and a white shirt. His hair was quite messy but looked really fluffy. And lastly not to forget about the beautiful blue eyes.
"You're so beautiful"Tony gasped and looked down Steve in shock.
Steve chuckled. "Thank you"
"Shit!"Tony suddenly gasped.
Steve looked at him and raised his eyebrow.
"Start with a hey end with a kiss.. already messed up wow stark"Tony sighed and went back to Steve.
"Uhm hey"Steve smiled.
"We're staying in the tower right?"
Tony nodded and stretched out his hand. Steve sighed before he took it and let Tony bring him somewhere.
The blonde had to admit that he definitely wasn't sure about this. Nope not at all. But it was okay. He would have one date and then never talk about it again.
He wouldn't show it though since Tony looked so happy.
"Boom! I hope you like it"
Steve hadn't realized they were already there.
Steve's eyes widened. They we're on a balcony that wasn't too high up but also high enough to see over New York's skyline.
Next to a small table and lighten up tree they had a huge warm water pool. The water clinged onto the glass wall. Inside there were green and blue pool lamps.
On the other side of the pool Tony had built up a sofa that had the size of a bed. It was filled with pillows and blankets. Everything was lighten up and it looked absolutely beautiful.
"W-Whoa"Steve gasped.
He's never had a date before and he was very very VERY happy that this would be his first.
"Since.. you said you only give me one date I thought I needed to put lots of effort in it I hope you like it"
"I do. It's beautiful"Steve said and felt Tony shoving him towards the table.
"Cheeseburgers?"Steve grinned.
"Hey! Cheeseburgers are great"
Tony frowned. "But if you don't like them I can ge-"
"No no no! This is great"
They ate their food. First it was kind of awkward but then everything loosened up and they started talking a lot.
Tony asked Steve a lot of questions which made the Captain feel fuzzy inside his stomach. He loved how Tony was interested in his life.
When they we're done they walked over to the pool.
"Do you even have bathing clothes with you?"Steve asked as he didn't see any.
"Nope"Tony smirked. The brunette put his phone on the table and let himself fall backwards.
The watter splattered in all directions and Steve laughed.
Tony felt his heart flattering. He loved making Steve laugh.
"hey are you joining grandpa?"Tony asked. Steve huffed and sat down on the edge, his feet sinking into the water. The water was really warm.
Steve sat there and looked over the city. This was more than beautiful. All of it. Tony usually wasn't like this. If this is how Tony treats his sweethearts he very much liked it.
He felt so special and loved.
He's never felt this before. Not before the ice, because he barely knew people. And not after the ice because he never knew who he could trust.
But he could trust Tony and that's what made it all even better.
"Whatcha thinking about?"Tony suddenly asked, swimming towards him.
The brunette was now standing in front of him, looking up through his lashes.
"I- I was thinking how stupid it was to reject you the 14 other times"
The way Tony's eyes started to shine warmed his insides.
Tony smiled. He placed one hand on either side of Steve's thigh and pushed himself up so he was the same height as Steve sitting on the edge of the pool.
Steve frowned. Tony was so close to him. The brunette leaned in.
Oh god were they kissing? How-
Steve was panicking. Luckily.. or maybe not, two inches before they're lips would've crashed together Tony pulled on his shirt and the blonde fell intp the water.
Steve dived back up and shook the water out of his eyes and hair.
The water was so warm. He wanted to feel it on his skin so bad.
Tony laughed. Steve smirked and swam towards him. In the next second the blonde had pushed Tony's head under water.
Tony gasped for air before the water surrounded him. He opened his eyes.
He blurrily saw something which looked like Steve's feet. He swam towards it and grabbed them so Steve lost his opportunity to stand.
A few seconds later they both took sharp breaths as they came back to air. Tony smiled and so did Steve.
They swam together towards the glass wall. There was a small bench inside the water which was the perfect height so you could see all over the lights and skyline of Manhattan.
They sat there and just looked. Probably more at eachother than at the great view.
"What you said before? Was that true?"Tony asked as he leaned his head onto his palm.
"What do you mean?"
"That you regret rejecting me so often"
Steve bit his lip and looked back at the sky.
"Yeah. Don't get me wrong.. but you're so different around the others than you are when we're alone"Steve explained.
"I really like you. A lot. And I wish we could be more than this one date"Tony answered with a sigh.
Steve looked at him. Tony gave him a sad smile. Steve's insides where fighting. His brain told him to continue with what they had before and let his stubborness win while something inside his chest told him that he could have this for longer or maybe even forever. And this made him happy.
Steve swallowed.
"I'd like that too"
Tony's eyes were lightening up once again. Steve loved that he caused that.
"I- wait- really?"
"Yes. But I'm telling you that I'm.. difficult"Steve said.
Tony just shook his head and scooted closer to his, maybe, boyfriend.
"But right now I really have to get rid of those"Steve chuckled as he threw his shirt and pants away.
Tony's eyes widened but he agreed.
The soaked clothes weren't comfortable at all so he joined Steve.
They swam around, swinging slowly through the water with their foreheads pressed together. Or they would make a water fight like children and the winner would kiss the other one.
Steve one and softly pecked Tony's lips. They had a nice time in the pool but later that night Tony passed Steve a bathrobe and put his own one on aswell.
Steve was being pulled towards the sofa-bed or whatever it was that was beautifully lighten up.
Tony laid down and Steve joined.
They laid there for a while in comfortable silence, the only thing that made sound was the water.
"You smell even better than I imagined"Tony said as he burried his nose inside Steve's hair.
"You imagined how I smell?"Steve asked with a smirk.
"Since I was fourteen"Tony chuckled at his own answer.
All of a sudden Steve sat up.
Had Tony done something wr- oh no he definitely hadn't.
The blonde suddenly sat on top of Tony one of his feet on either side of Tony's thighs.
He moved closer and closer until their lips touched. It soon changed into a passionate kiss, full of love and way different than the peck before.
Suddenly Tony felt Steve grinding against him. "Hey.. after three dates right?"Tony asked and raised his eyebrow.
Steve's eyes widened. "Pft in what century where you born?"the blonde sassed and continued.
What happened next is what we all know but it will stay in 2013 on the balcony of avengers tower.
What was crystal clear now was that Tony was the one percent.
