"Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one. Marcus Aurelius" Clara says, the end of class bell rings. A young man rushes in as the other students leave "have you been running?"
"Are you ok? There was a call for you at the office, from your doctor."
"Did he leave an address?" the man hands her a piece of paper. She grabs her motorcycle gear and leaves. The TARDIS is parked on the side of a lonely country road. Clara sounds her horn and drives straight at it. The doors open to let her in, the Doctor is reading a book on Advanced Quantum Mechanics and I have a small device of sorts in my hand, I quickly shove it in a drawer.
"Draught," the Doctor says, Clara clicks her fingers and the doors close.
"Fancy a week in ancient Mesopotamia followed by future Mars?" I ask walking down the stairs and to the console.
"Will there be cocktails?" Clara asks.
"On the Moon" I reply.
"The Moon will do" the three laugh and hug, I gett stuck in the middle.
"How's the new job? Teach anything good?" the Doctor asks.
"No. Learn anything?" Clara asks.
"Not a thing" I say, we high five. Alert. TARDIS interference detected.
"What's happening?" Clara asks.
"Whoa, whoa. We're taking off, but the engines aren't going" the Doctor says.
*Outside the White Tower*
"Hello? Kate Stewart's phone. Oh, hold on. Excuse me. Ma'am. Ma'am!"
"The ravens are looking a bit sluggish. Tell Malcolm they need new batteries" Kate says.
"It's him. Sorry, it's your personal phone, but, well, I recognised the ringtone. It's him, isn't it?" the female he gets a bit breathless as she hands the phone over to Kate.
"Inhaler" the female uses her inhaler
"Doctor, hello. We found the TARDIS in a field. I'm having it brought in" Kate says
*TARDIS*
The Doctor is hanging out of the door, using the external emergency telephone.
"No kidding" he replies.
"Where are you?" he holds the phone up towards the helicopter as they fly up the Thames "oh, my god! Oh, Doctor, I'm so sorry. We had no idea you were still in there. Come on" the turn sends the Doctor out of the door. Clara manages to grab hold of his feet, she suddenly starts sliding forward if it weren't for me who grabs Clara's feet "Doctor, can you hear me? I don't think he can hear me."
"Next time, would it kill you to knock?" I ask.
"Ah, hello Seer, I'm having you taken directly to the scene. Hello, are you ok?"
"Whoa! I'm just going to pop you on hold" I readjust my grip on Clara's feet, the changes position to hang onto the base of the Tardis with his hands.
"Doctor? Seer?" Kate asks.
"Doctor!" Clara shouts.
*Trafalgar Square*
The Doctor drops down before the TARDIS is lowered to the ground and salutes Kate, her assistant and the squad of UNIT soldiers waiting.
"Why am I saluting?" the Doctor asks, Clara and I exit the TARDIS.
"Doctor, as Chief Scientific Officer, may I extend the official apologies of UNIT."
"Kate Lethbridge Stewart, a word to the wise. As I'm sure your father would have told you, we don't like being picked up."
"That probably sounded better in his head" Clara says.
"I'm acting on instructions direct from the throne. Sealed orders from her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the First."
"The Queen? The First? Sorry, Elizabeth the First?" Clara asks.
"Her credentials are inside," Kate says, the Doctor is about to break the seal on the message when Kate points back to the National Gallery "no. Inside."
"Nice scarf" I say smiling at Kate's assistant.
"What's our cover story for this?" Kate asks.
"Er, Derren Brown."
"Again?"
"Oh, we've sent him flowers" the Doctor, Clara, Kate and I head up the steps to the gallery.
*National Gallery*
"Did you two know her, Elizabeth the First?" Clara asks.
"Unified Intelligence Task Force," the Doctor says.
"Sorry?" Clara asks.
"This lot. UNIT. They investigate alien stuff. Anything alien" I say.
"What, like you two?"
"We work for them" I reply.
"You two have a job?"
"Why shouldn't I have a job? I'd be brilliant at having a job" the Doctor says.
"You two don't have a job."
"We do. This is our job. We're doing it now."
"You never have a job."
"We do. we do" a painting is unveiled of an alien Citadel on fire and under attack.
"Elizabeth's credentials, Doctor and Seer" I gasp.
"But, but that's not possible," Clara says.
"No more," the Doctor says.
"That's the title," Kate says.
"We know the title" I say.
"Also known as Gallifrey Falls."
"This painting doesn't belong here, not in this time or place," the Doctor says.
"Obviously," Clara says.
"It's the fall of Arcadia, Gallifrey's second city" I say.
"But how is it doing that? How is that possible? It's an oil painting in 3D" Clara steps forward.
"Time Lord art. Bigger on the inside. A slice of real-time, frozen" I say.
"Elizabeth told us where to find it, and its significance," Kate says, I take Clara's hands.
"You two ok?" Clara asks.
"They were there," the Doctor says.
"Who was?" Clara asks.
"Us. The other us. The ones we don't talk about."
"I don't understand."
"We've had many faces, many lives. We don't admit to all of them. There's one life we've tried very hard to forget. They were the Doctor and the Seer who fought in the Time War, and that was the day they did it. The day we did it. The day they killed them all. The last day of the Time War. The war to end all wars between our people and the Daleks. And in that battle, there was a man and women with more blood on their hands than any other, a man and women who would commit a crime that would silence the universe. And those two were me and the Doctor" I say.
*Arcadia*
There are fleeing civilians, buildings being destroyed, flying Daleks and soldiers firing at them. Lots of explosions and deaths occur.
"Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate."
"Message for the High Council, Priority Omega. Arcadia has fallen. I repeat, Arcadia has fallen" a soldier says, he sees the Type 40 TARDIS with the stuck chameleon circuit, and its occupants come towards him.
"Soldier, we're going to need your guns" the two shoot at a concrete wall.
"Exterminate! Exterminate. Exterminate!"
"Please. Please, just don't."
"Alert! Alert! The Doctor and the Seer are detected."
"The Doctor and the Seer are surrounded!"
"Inform High Command we have the Doctor and the Seer. Seek, locate, destroy" the Gallifreyan family sneak away. The Doctor and the Seer have etched No More into the concrete wall.
"Seek, locate, destroy. Seek" a TARDIS smashes through, bashing the Daleks to pieces.
"The Doctor and the Seer are escaping. What are these words? Explain. Explain."
*War room*
Inside the Citadel.
"The High Council is in emergency session. They have plans of their own."
"To hell with the High Council. Their plans have already failed. Gallifrey's still in the line of fire. So, they were there then?"
"They left a message, a written warning for the Daleks. Their fools."
"No, their madmen."
"As you can see, sir, all Dalek fleets surrounding the planet now converging on the capital, but the Sky Trenches are holding" the building shakes.
"Where did they go next?"
"What does it matter? This is their biggest ever attack, sir. They're throwing everything at us."
"Sir, we have a security breach to the Time Vaults."
"The Omega Arsenal, where all the forbidden weapons are locked away."
"They're not forbidden anymore. We've used them all against the Daleks."
"No. No, we haven't."
*Omega Arsenal*
A plinth is empty.
"The Moment is gone."
"I don't understand. What is the Moment? I've never heard of it."
"The galaxy eater. The final work of the ancients of Gallifrey. A weapon so powerful, the operating system became sentient. According to legend, it developed a conscience."
"And we've never used it."
"How do you use a weapon of ultimate mass destruction when it can stand in judgment on you? There is only two who would even try."
*Desert planet*
"Time Lords of Gallifrey, Daleks of Skaro, we serve notice on you all" War Doctor says.
"Too long we have stayed our hand. No more. Today you leave us no choice" War Seer says.
"Today, this war will end. No more. No more'" War Doctor says as he shifts the sack he is carrying on his back and enters a lonely barn, followed by War Seer.
*Barn*
He puts down the sack and reveals a brass inlaid clockwork box.
"How, how do you work? Why is there never a big red button?" the War Doctor asks, the two hear scuffling noises, and open the door.
"Hello? Is somebody there?" War Seer asks.
"It's nothing" a blonde woman is sitting on the clockwork box "It's just a wolf."
"Don't sit on that!" the War Doctor says.
"Why not?"
"Because it's not a chair, it's the most dangerous weapon in the universe" War Seer says as she hurries the women from the barn and closes the door behind her. And there she is, sitting on the box.
"Why can't it be both? Why did you park so far away? Didn't you want her to see it?"
"Want who to see?" the War Doctor asks.
"The TARDIS. You both walked for miles, and miles and miles and miles and miles."
"We were thinking."
"I heard you."
"You heard us?"
"No more. No more."
"No more."
"No more. No more."
"Stop it" the War Seer says.
"No more."
"Who are you?" the clockwork in the box makes a noise "It's activating. Get out of here" the War Doctor says as he tries to take hold of the box "ow!"
"What's wrong?"
"The interface is hot."
"Well, I do my best."
"There's a power source inside...You're the interface?" The War Seer asks.
"They must have told you the Moment had a conscience. Hello! Oh, look at you two. Stuck between a girl and a box. Story of your lives, eh, Doctor and Seer?"
"You know us?" The War Seer asks.
"I hear you. All of you, jangling around in those dusty old heads of yours. I chose this face and form especially for you two. It's from your past. Or possibly your future. I always get those two mixed up."
"We don't have a future," the War Doctor says.
"I think I'm called Rose Tyler. No. Yes. No, sorry, no, no, in this form, I'm called Bad Wolf. Are you two afraid of the big bad wolf, Doctor and Seer?"
"Stop calling us that."
"Those are the names in your heads."
"They shouldn't be. We've been fighting this war for a long time. We've lost the right to be the Doctor and the Seer" the War Seer says.
"Then you're both the ones to save us all."
"Yes."
"If I ever develop an ego, you've both got the job."
"If you have been inside our heads, then you know what we've seen. The suffering. Every moment in time and space is burning. It must end, and we intend to end it the only way we can" the War Doctor says.
"And you're going to use me to end it by killing them all, Daleks and Time Lords alike. I could, but there will be consequences for you both."
"We have no desire to survive this."
"Then that's your punishment. If you do this, if you kill them all, then that's the consequence. You both live. Gallifrey. You're both going to burn it, and all those Daleks with it, but all those children too. How many children on Gallifrey right now?"
"We don't know" the War Seer says.
"One day you both will count them. One terrible night. Do you want to see what that will turn you both into? Come on, aren't you curious?" a whirling portal opens above them "I'm opening windows on your futures. A tangle in time through the days to come, to the man and women today will make of you" a fez drops through the portal "ok, I wasn't expecting that."
