*Clarke rushes to Bellamy when she hears the news of Octavia, but the closer she gets to the Anomaly the stranger things become*
***

"He's out there, alone. Just waiting for her to come back." Echo's voice was strained as she explained what happened to Clarke.

How they'd gone to the Anomaly, how Hope had miraculously appeared, how she'd harmed Octavia, then how Octavia had disappeared in Bellamy's arms.

"We're worried it's dangerous out there. But we couldn't get him to come with us." She explained.

"You left him?" Clarke couldn't hide the distain in her voice. Echo supposedly loved Bellamy and yet, in his darkest moment she left him.

"He told me to go. He didn't want to put me in danger." Echo defended.

"Right." Clarke's tone was icy. As much as she wanted to assimilate into the new family that was formed from being stuck in space for six years, she couldn't. She hated Echo.

She couldn't fathom how someone like Bellamy could ever be with someone like her.

Clarke thought about it for a moment. She thought about how Bellamy saw himself.

While she saw a kind, generous man, who was so much smarter than people gave him credit for, she knew he saw something else. He saw a monster. Perhaps that's why he saw himself with Echo.

The silence between Echo and Clarke was tense. Both of them staring at one another, both of them knowing that the boy they cared about was somewhere in the forest, alone with just a backpack of rations to keep him going.

She shouldn't have been surprised that Echo left. The day the world ended Echo was nowhere to be found, safe on the ship while Clarke stood at the door begging Bellamy to come inside,

Echo didn't care for him. Not really.

Without another word Clarke turned on her heels, returning to her bedroom.

She began frantically packing a bag, tears forming in her eyes.

If Echo wouldn't save Bellamy, Clarke would.

***

Bellamy could tell that the night air was growing colder. He watched as the hairs on his arm stood upright, but he couldn't feel the cold. He couldn't feel anything.

He had abandoned his sister when she needed his forgiveness- and now she was gone.

Bellamy let out a heaving sob. He was still on his hands and knees where Octavia disappeared.

He heard the crunch of the leaves as his hands balled into fists, but again couldn't feel the pain of the sharp wood and rock against his skin.

He sat, throwing himself onto his back and looking up at the night sky.

For a moment, he could almost convince himself that he was a normal guy.

An Earth man. Before the bombs hit they would go out into the forest and lie under the stars for fun.

He couldn't imagine having a home, with a roof and walls, with blankets and hot water and voluntarily leaving it, but something about the way the stars looked gave him some insight into what the Earth men might have been thinking.

He didn't even notice he was crying. He could feel the tears running down his cheeks, but he couldn't make them stop.

"Bellamy?" A voice calling from the forest made him bolt upright.

He knew that voice anywhere.

"Clarke?" He called back, though his voice was drowned out by a high pitched ringing sound.

"Bellamy!" The voice called again, softer this time, as if the girl was running away.

Bellamy could feel something was wrong, but he followed the sound anyway, taking off into the forest as the girl continued to call his name.

"Bellamy!"

He ran faster, only to be stopped short when he pulled up in a clearing.

Clarke stood in front of him, but one look at the girl told him it wasn't his Clarke.

The girl was younger, with long blonde hair falling over her shoulders. She wore a black leather jacket and a forlorn expression.

Bellamy could feel a weight in his chest. Grief. Guilt. He knew exactly where they were.

"I think we deserve a drink." The words slipped out of his mouth without his control as he walked toward the girl.

"Have one for me." The sadness in Clarke's voice was palpable. It broke Bellamy's heart.

"Hey." Again the words fell from him, like he was dreaming.

"We can get through this." He remembered the feeling of standing next to her, the hopelessness of knowing she was going to leave him, of knowing that he was desperately in love with her.

"But we didn't." Clarke's voice was angry now, and as Bellamy turned toward her the girl changed.

This Clarke was older, in her radiation suit, hair pulled back into a loose braid. Just the sight of her made Bellamy feel like he'd been punched in the gut.

For 6 years this was the last memory Bellamy had of her.

"You left me." The girl whimpered, tears ran down her face, burning her skin as they went. Burns appeared over her body as she coughed, black blood dripping from her mouth.

"I had to." Bellamy was crying now, he pulled the girl desperately into his arms, closing his eyes and resting his lips on her forehead.

He could hear her crying against him, feel her hands tighten around his waist.

As suddenly as they arrived though, they disappeared. Bellamy opened his eyes to find that the girl had disappeared.

"Bellamy." The call was softer now, a whisper. Bellamy followed the noise. He walked through the forest into another open plain, covered with rocks.

Another version of Clarke stood in front of a rover, her arms folded across her blue jacket.

"I'm gunna take the rover back to camp." Bellamy's one voice sounded like it was far away. The sides of his vision were blurry, as he looked down at the girl next to him.

"Octavia?"

God, she could always read his mind. She always knew exactly what he was thinking. Everything except the one thing that really mattered.

"It's pathetic, right? She hates me, but I keep coming back for more." Bellamy remember the lump in his throat as he spoke the Clarke that day.

Sure part of him was talking about Octavia, but the words conjured memories of Clarke leaving him, over and over, choosing others over and over and him still loving her.

"She's your sister. She's blood." Clarke's voice was gentle, calming, as it always had been. Some of the most hopeless moments of Bellamy's life were quelled by Clarke Griffin's voice.

"She'll come around and see how special you are."

Bellamy turned to look at Clarke right as she looked away.

"Clarke," he remembered now. This was the moment he was going to tell her he loved her. He couldn't mess this up a second time. He still hadn't forgiven himself for the first.

"If I don't see you again."

"No you will." Clarke interrupted him.

"Let me finish." Bellamy's voice felt like his own now.

"Clarke I- god I've never been good with this- look aside from Octavia you are the one thing I truly care about. The one thing I can't live without. You make me want to be better, to do better. You make me hopeful for the future- and I can't die without letting you know that I love you- Clarke Griffin. I love you so much." He admitted.

The girl gasped, pulling Bellamy to her hungrily. She kissed him deeply, but as Bellamy closed his eyes he felt that something was wrong.

A laugh escaped Clarke then that was not her own.

He opened his eyes to see the girl smirking at him, her hand around his throat.

"So sweet." She crooned.

"You love her so much that you didn't even notice that she was gone. That I had taken over."

"I couldn't have known." Bellamy cried.

"You should have tried harder." The girl whispered, jabbing a needle into Bellamy's neck.

The boy fell to the ground, unable to move as he watched Clarke transform into Josephine.

"Night night, sweetheart."

***

Clarke tracked desperately through the forest. The light from the moon illuminating the map she was following. If she pushed herself she could make it there before the sun rose, hopefully Bellamy was still around, still safe.

God the thought of him- losing him after so long apart made her heart ache.

Clarke picked up speed, running through the forest, she began to feel lightheaded.

She knew it was probably dehydration, as she stopped to pull the canister of water from her bag.

Clarke downed the water quickly, taking in her surroundings. Everything in this place looked the same.

The sound of laughter behind her made her jump.

The girl whipped her head around.

The sound came again, clearer this time, a girl's laugh filled the air.

Clarke followed the sound, moving through the forest, the trees around her began to glow blue.

"Hello?"  Clarke called, though her own voice sounded far away.

Clarke passed into a clearing, a young girl stood there, long brown hair, small frame, a butterfly perched on the tips of her fingers.

"Octavia!" Clarke called, running toward the girl.

"Octavia, we've been looking for you!" She tried again.

The other girl turned, crushing the butterfly in her hand.

Clarke noticed the blood painted on the girl's face. She stopped short.

"Bloodreina."

"Wanheda." The other girl greeted her with a sickening grin.

"That's not me anymore." Clarke defended.

The other girl laughed maniacally.

"Isn't it?" She teased.

There was a loud whooshing sound, Clarke could feel something cold and metallic in her hand.

She looked down to see Bellamy Blake bound, on his hands and knees before her.

"Bellamy!" She gasped, moving to untie him, instead though, as if out of her control, her hand raised, the gun pressing against Bellamy's forehead.

"Do it. You have so many times before. You left him alone in Arkadia, you stayed with Lexa over your own people, you left him to die in the fighting pits. Over and over you chose to hurt him. END IT!" Octavia screamed.

"No." Clarke cried,

"I won't."

"Now you care about Bellamy?"

Clarke looked up, Echo stood where Octavia had been, the same sick grin on her face.

"I always cared."

Clarke remembered that moment. The moment she realised that she had loved Bellamy Blake this whole time.

She'd realised what an idiot she had been, the harm she had done.

"Do it!" Echo shouted.

Clarke raised the gun with all of her strength, pointing it now at Echo.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, closing her eyes and shooting the other girl.

Clarke gasped as the images before her disappeared.

She was in the middle of the forest now, alone.

If the Anomaly was effecting her it must have been effecting Bellamy.

She took of into a sprint.

"Bellamy!" She screamed as she ran.

Clarke came into a clearing, Bellamy Blake lay on the ground in the middle of it, his eyes open.

"No!" She rushed toward him, falling onto her knees.

"Bellamy." She gasped, pressing her hand to his neck to take his pulse. His heart was racing, his eyes were wide, his body unable to move.

"Bellamy, it's me. It's Clarke okay. Whatever you're seeing- I'm real. I'm here." She cried, placing her head on his chest.

"I can't lose you. I need you." She sobbed.

She pulled back to look at him. Tears ran down his cheeks.

She wiped them away, pressing her hands to either side of his face.

"I'm not losing you again. What am I without you? A head without a heart can only survive so long. We need each other, Bellamy."

Before she could stop herself she pressed her lips to his.

"Come back to me." She whispered.

Clarke sighed with relief as Bellamy's hands came up to cup her face.

A smile spread across his face, as Clarke helped him into a seated position.

"You're okay." She sighed, pulling him into a tight hug.

The boy hugged her back.

"I'm not okay." He whispered, Clarke could feel him shaking.

"I don't think I'll ever be okay without you." He told her, pulling back to look at her.

Clarke wiped a tear from his face with her thumb.

"Good thing I'm not going anywhere." She whispered, pulling him into a deep kiss.

"Not without you." She continued, breathlessly.

"Never again."
