This chapter is for comedic relief after the intense events our characters had to go through. There will not be a lot of vampire references. If you want, you may skip it, but I don't recommend it. (this chapter is very sweet and cuddly. It also explains how the reveal went down.) Stay miraculous :)
Adrien's POV
I grumble and roll over on my back. Morning sun beams down on my closed eyelids and I groan. My head hurts and I'm dehydrated. I try and open my eyes, but I instantly close them once my headache pounds from sunlight. I groan and stuff my head into a pillow.
Wait, a pillow?
Ignoring the excruciating pain from my head, I force my eyes open and wait for my vision to focus. Almost immediately I recognize where I am. This soft fabric on the bed, the perfect seams on the bedsheets, the warm smell of cookies... all of it reminds me of Marinette. I turn over on my side and I'm face to face with my girlfriend who's fast asleep. I smile. She must have brought me here after last night.
Last night. Ugh. All the memories come back to me. I remember having a mental breakdown. The wind was blowing hard and rain was pounding. When Luka told me Hawkmoth was my father, I didn't want to believe him. I still don't want to believe him. Knowing that my father caused all of this pain and suffering to everyone is unforgivable. He's such a selfish bastard...
I start to cry. I've been fighting my own father this whole time. My enemy is my father. I have no family left.
Suddenly Marinette tosses in her sleep and curls up against me. I freeze and look at her dark hair, her pale skin, her freckles. I smile and hug her under the sheets.
No, I do have family left: Marinette.
I lean over and kiss her forehead. She groans and stretches, then slowly opens her eyes.
"Good morning, princess," I whisper, rubbing her back.
She giggles and blushes. "Good morning, my prince."
I start to get out of the bed but she grabs my arm and pulls me back into the sheets. She puts her hand on my cheek and looks at me with her bluebell eyes.
"Hey... how are you holding up?" She quietly asks.
"I just can't believe Hawkmoth was my father this whole time."
She gasps. "Adrien, you're crying..."
I shake my head. "I just can't believe it..."
"Oh, Adrien..." she whispers, and holds me in her arms while we lay on the bed.
"I miss my mom," I cry.
She tilts her head. "I noticed how you call her mom instead of mother, unlike your father. She must have meant a lot to you."
I nod, and bury my face into her shoulders.
"Trust me, Adrien, I have a plan. I'm going to cure everyone from vampirism, including you and Luka. I'll fix everything. I promise."
I wipe my tears and smile, looking at into her eyes. "Sorry m'lady, but I don't trust anyone who looks that good with bed-head."
She giggles and slams a pillow in my face. "You flirt! I was trying to be serious!"
Suddenly we hear a knock on the window. Marinette quickly jumps up. I gasp for air and pull the pillow off my face while laughing. I brush my bangs out of my face and glance up to see who's here.
"Viperon?" She asks, opening the window for him.
The snake hops in and de-transforms. His kwami swirls around in the air and joins Plagg and Tikki in the corner.
"Sorry, I don't mean to be a third wheel," he explains, "But I wanted to make sure my friend was okay."
Marinette smiles and looks at me. "Go talk to him yourself then!"
I smile. "Thanks for checking on me, Luka. I really appreciate it."
"Of course, Adrien. I'm so sorry I was the one who had to break the news for you," he replies, sighing.
"Someone had to tell me."
"Hey, I'm going to go downstairs and get some water for us," Marinette explains, going down the stairs.
"Do your parents know you're here?!" I carefully call out.
"I told them about you, but not Luka, so keep it down!" She whisper-shouts, and continues to climb down the stairs with Tikki trailing behind her.
I smile and get off her bed to go join Luka on the couch. He leans stretched out on one side, and I sit on the other. Luka looks around Marinette's room and chuckles, noticing all the pictures she has up of me.
"I seriously don't understand how you thought she was 'just a friend.' "
I shrug. "She told me that she was just a fan of my work for the longest time, and that's what I believed."
"You literally saw with your own two eyes that this girl had posters all around her room of you and you only, and you thought that she was just inspired by your modeling?!"
I feel the blood rush to my cheeks. "Well, when you say it like that..!"
"Do you even know about her schedule of you?" He asks leaning in, intrigued by our conversation.
"S-Schedule?" I ask, confused.
"Ohh kid, you're gonna love to hear this!" Plagg interrupts, flying into our conversation. "She had a whole calendar of your events! She would know when and where you would be 24/7 and - "
"- AND THAT'S ENOUGH!!" Marinette frantically interrupts, scrambling up the stairs. "I've got the water bottles!!"
I stand up and cross my arms with a smirk. "M'lady, I didn't know you were a stalker!"
"Oh my god, no, I swear, it wasn't what you think it was!" she explains, embarrassed beyond words.
I run over and grab Marinette by the waist and pick her up, twirling her around in the air. "You were totally crushing on me~!"
She squirms and tries to pull out of my grasp. "Yeah, so what?! You were crushing on me as Ladybug and you were to blind to notice that was me!"
I gently place her down on the ground and roll my eyes with a laugh. "You were too blind to realize I was Chat Noir!"
"Moral of the story is that y'all were both two idiots who couldn't recognize each other's voices in and out of costumes," Luka teases. "Just because you guys hide your cheekbones doesn't mean that your identity is a secret!"
I laugh. "Man, the day everything was revealed was rough."
Luka scoffs. "You think you had it rough?! It was the day I joined the team!"
Marinette nods. "Oh right! I gave you the miraculous to keep when Hawk Moth akumatized Chloé into the vampire Miracle Queen!"
"That's where it all went down," I laugh, and the memories start to rush in.
Flashback
(For reference: The final episode of season three)
Chat Noir's POV
Two months ago - Before their identities were revealed
I anxiously peer around the corner of a building as Ladybug and I hide from Hawkmoth and akumatized Chloé, who's now a vampire. We cowardly hide from the battle field in one of the many streets of Paris. The reason we're hiding is because Hawkmoth got to Master Fu and has every single miraculous except for three: the cat miraculous, the ladybug miraculous, and the snake miraculous.
"Ladybug, we're going to need backup, quick! All we have is the snake miraculous and our own miraculouses left!" I nervously shout. "If we lose, Hawkmoth would have gained total power!"
Ladybug nervously paces around as she forms a plan in her head. "I... I don't know what to do! He has every other miraculous except for the three we have!"
I grab her shoulders and make her look at me. "We need to do something, and fast. There are too many vampires for us to beat alone!"
"Well what are we supposed to do?! There's only two of us!" She replies.
A lightbulb goes off above my head. "That's it, m'lady! If there's only two of us, just give someone the miraculous we have left."
"I - I can't do that!" Ladybug explains. "I've never given anyone a miraculous! It's always just been you and me, Chat Noir!"
Suddenly we hear a building crash in the distance. I jump back, and look at Ladybug with desperate eyes.
"Ladybug, Please!"
She nods her head. "Fine. I'll fine someone."
She uses her yo-yo and swings right into the battle field. Hawkmoth is hovering mid-air with almost total power and control. He notices Ladybug and scowls. She uses her Lucky Charm to try and cure Chloé, but she fails. Instead, Hawkmoth grabs Ladybug's yo-yo and yanks her up to him.
"If you want to get something done right, you have to do it yourself!" Hawkmoth shouts, and reaches for Ladybug's earrings.
Ladybug turns to face me and tosses the snake miraculous my way. "I trust you Chat Noir! Go find someone! And don't look back!"
"W-What do you mean?!" I scream, terrified of the answer.
She smiles through her sadness. "I'm glad you're my partner. I hope things don't change between us once you find out who I am under the mask."
"Miracle Queen!" Hawkmoth interrupts. "Go bite Chat Noir, and turn him into a vampire!"
I feel my heart drop in my chest. I rapidly turn away and sprint towards the school. My friends always treated me right and were always ready to help, so maybe I can find a holder for the snake miraculous at school. I turn a corner and bump into someone, then crash down on the cement.
"I-I'm sorry, but I've got to go!" I say, struggling to get back up on my feet.
"No - it was my fault Chat Noir. Is there anything I can do to help?!" The boy asks.
I swiftly look up at the civilian, and I freeze. It's Luka.
"Yes, actually, you can," I frantically answer. "I need you to help me, right now."
I hand Luka the miraculous and quickly run over the basics. He nods his head in agreement, and quickly transforms into Viperon, his alter-ego.
I anxiously explain our plan, desperate to get back to the battle field. "Okay, now we need to head back and save Ladybug, before we find out her identity-"
"MARINETTE!"
Luka screams in horror, and breaks for the battle field.
Did... Did he just say Marinette?
I turn and face Hawkmoth and see him holding Ladybug by her neck, only it's not Ladybug, its Marinette. Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I take a step back, and then another. Marinette Dupain-Cheng was the girl under the mask the whole time. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is the girl I would sacrifice myself for time and time again. Marinette Dupain-Cheng is the girl I would eagerly await to go vampire hunting with.
And Marinette Dupain-Cheng is the girl I fell in love with.
Suddenly I see a beam of teal light strike Hawkmoth. Viperon must have used his power. Marinette is quickly replaced with Ladybug, and she doesn't waste any time beating Hawkmoth and curing Chloé, quickly changing her from a vampire to a civilian. Hawkmoth scowls and flees the scene. Once the day is saved, she waves bye to Viperon, and stars looking for me, but I sprint away. I can't believe that Marinette is Ladybug.
The next morning when school begins, I search for Marinette and make a beeline to her.
My eyes light up when I see her. "Marinette, I need to talk to you."
She quickly looks away, and her face turns bright red. "O-Oh hi Adrien! Surprise seeing you here!"
I roll my eyes and laugh. "I go to school here, Marinette!"
"Oh, right! Well, see you never! I-I mean, later!!" She frantically spits out.
She turns away, but I grab her arm. "Marinette, please, I want to talk to you. Alone."
Her face turns the deepest shade of red I've ever seen. "O-o-okay..."
I hold her hand and take her to the back of the school. I bring her into the men's bathroom and she starts to get confused.
"Adrien, you know I can't be back here!" she urgently explains.
"Please," I beg. "This is important."
She nods her head.
"Marinette, please don't freak out, but are you Ladybug?"
Silence.
"W-WHAT?! PSH, NO! OF COURSE NOT! WHY WOULD I BE-"
"-I knew it." I interrupt.
Her eyes grow wide and she backs away. "No, Adrien, I mean it! I'm not Ladybug!"
"I'm sorry to ask you like this, knowing how you feel about your identity and all, but I needed to know."
"What do you mean, knowing how I feel about my identity? You're saying that like you knew me as Ladybug." She mumbles.
I awkwardly smile and look away.
"No..." she whispers. "No way! Are you..."
She takes a breath and prepares herself for the worse.
"...are you Chat Noir?!"
I hesitantly smile, then nod.
"You're... you're lying. You're just saying that to freak me out because you know I'm Ladybug." she says, frantically backing away into the corner.
I laugh and flash my ring. "Would I ever lie to you, buggaboo?"
"Oh. My. Fucking. God." She mumbles under her breath.
"Finally! You guys were in such a bad love square it was almost unbearable!" Plagg whines, flying out of my pocket.
"Congrats, Marinette!" Replies Mari's kwamii, flipping in the air.
"Wow, are you Tikki?!" I ask with my eyes sparkling.
"Yes, I'm Marinette's kwamii!" The tiny ladybug replies.
"Nice to meet you!" I reply, smiling. "Marinette, this is my kwamii, Plagg."
Plagg flies close to her face.
"So.... you're the god of destruction?" She whispers.
Plagg smirks. "The one and only!"
I laugh. "Anyways, do you want to come to my place after school? I'm sure I can talk my father into it. We could get to know each other and talk about what we're going to do next."
She stays silent, and walks away. "Maybe later, Chat. I've got to go."
She dashed out of the bathroom and Tikki trailes after her, just as shocked as I was.
"She called me Chat," I whisper, turning to Plagg. "She still only thinks of me as a partner. Nothing more."
End Of Flashback
Present Time
Adrien's POV
I let go of her hug and brush Marinette's bangs out of her face. "I'm glad you finally can around, m'lady."
"I was still in denial. I was in denial for a long time. I didn't want to believe that my crush was my partner in crime." She laughs. "I didn't want to believe that I friend zoned my crush either."
"That would be two of y'all!" Luka replies with a smirk.
"Yeah yeah, I get it. I friend zoned the love of my life. But never again," I murmur, leaning into Mari.
"Never again," she repeats, and kisses me.
Luka laughs. "Alright, alright love birds, I get it."
Mari pulls away and laughs, and I roll my eyes. We walk back to the couch that Luka is sitting on, and Luka's smile quickly fades.
"Anyways, I didn't come here to third wheel. We have to plan."
Marinette nods.
"Right," I reply. "We need a plan that would end Hawkmoth..."
"... and change us back into humans," Luka finishes.
