CHAPTER 18
Narrator's P.O.V
Astrid groaned in exasperation while putting her phone on her knee. She was sitting on one of the benches inside the hospital hall. The room was very crowded with patients, doctors, nurses and visitors. Hiccup was supposed to arrive half an hour ago, she had messaged him a couple of times but he hadn't answer. She wasn't a very patient person and he knew it, maybe he was buying her ice-cream... but she doubted it, it only could take him five minutes to buy it.
Astrid thought that maybe he was talking to some friends, but later she realized that he only had Fishlegs and that they never talked after classes.
She was planning how to kill him for making her wait, he knew that they had to talk about important business, and that day her mother had left her alone, she had to do something so they didn't have much time before she returned. And he had to came late. While she was thinking about those things when an ambulance parked in front of the doors, it caught her attention. They pulled a bed with wheels out of it, a person was inside, the face was covered. The nurses that were with the person pulled the bed running inside the hospital, suddenly a pair of doctors appeared and they all pulled the bed. She supposed that they were taking the person to have surgery.
She heard someone saying something about a car accident and a explosion. She shivered and thought of the person.
She waited there for a couple of minutes that suddenly became an hour. She groaned and stood up. It was Wednesday so she decided to talk with the psychologist, she was supposed to go every wednesday for one hour to talk with him about her horrible live and how was she dealing with cancer. She always skipped those sessions to be with Hiccup. After all, it was better for her than that man that she didn't knew. With a stranger she wasn't comfortable talking about anything.
She still remember where she had to go, she had go there a couple of times before she met Hiccup, since that day she had stopped going.
She headed to a corridor at her left, and in less than a minute she arrived at her destination. The Dr. Smith was there, reading a newspaper, Astrid supposed that, that was all he did all the Wednesdays at that hour. She entered without knocking and took and seat on a sofa, when the doctor saw her, he smiled and put down the news paper.
"Astrid, what an unexpected pleasure." He said sarcastically.
"Whatever, so what are we supposed to talk about?" She replied rudely.
"You're supposed to tell me how you feel, but I'm curious, why have you come?" The doctor asked.
"Someone forgot to visit me." She simply said.
"I see... so have you heard about the sad news?" He asked, Astrid looked at him not understanding what he was talking about.
"What sad news?" She asked.
"You know Hiccup? That auburn boy, I think he's your age more less, that boy always came to talk with the patients. Well, as I had been told, he helped a woman and her daughter after they had a car accident and when he was inside the car, nobody is sure why he was inside it, the woman and the girl were already safe after all... as I was saying, he was inside when the car explode. But at least he's going to live." As soon as the doctor told Astrid the 'sad news' more like ' debastating news' she stormed out of the room running. She ran, tears forming on her eyes. She went to the surgery section, she wasn't supposed to be there but she didn't care. He saw a group of people on front of a door. She was sure he was behind that door.
"Hiccup!" She yelled while running to the door, it was the surgery room number three. When the people in front of the door saw her and realized what her intentions were, they tried to catch her. Three doctors and four nurses were necessary to stop her and make her stopped kicking them.
"Let me see him, LET ME SEE HIM!" She yelled, all of them shook her head and thy tried to calm her, soon they realized it was an impossible task. Suddenly she cried in pain and grabbed her stomach, after that she finally calmed down. A nurse motioned her to take a seat and a doctor started to ask if she was alright.
"I'm dying, but that's not something new. Please, let me see him..." She begged.
"Soon." Was all the doctor said to her.
With the passed of the minutes the doctors and nurses disappear, they let her stay on the corridor, in front of the room 3. She sat alone on a chair, silent tears streaming down her face. She didn't tried to stop them.
