Matt walks down the sidewalk and just gets out of the floating suburbs then suddenly ducks from an incoming fairy. He pops back up angrily, "Watch where your going!" he shouts at her furiously as the fairy continues to fly away. She keeps flying but shouts back at him. "I'm sorry" In a squeaky fairy tone sincerely and continues to fly down the sidewalk not even looking back. Matt scoffs and continues down the sidewalk.
He then comes across a fancy futuristic looking soda vending machine. "Yeah, I know it's ten in the morning but I am just craving some magic root beer." he thinks to himself. He walks up to it and stops; his left hand dives into his left pocket and he grips his worn leather wallet. He pulls out a couple dollars situating them in his hand then feeding them into the machine. He watches a small imp from through the glass, carry his money down a ladder, attached to the back, to the base of the machine. Matt presses a button saying "Magic Root Beer"; another imp close to the root beer climbs up another ladder up to where the floating can was. He reached for it desperately and manages to grab and pull it out of it's floatation spell. The imps were a little smaller then soda cans and although soda cans are more than the imp's own weight they can carry things up to triple their weight. The imp descends the ladder and comes to a small hatch which he opens and rolls the can down a ramp into a little metal bin; the imp then closes the hatch going out of sight.
"Thanks." Says Matt as he reaches for the can. His hand extends to the can and grips it but as he begins to bring his arm up, the imp suddenly pushes through the hatch and grabs Matt's wrist firmly with his tiny hand. "I'm coming!" The imp says in a deep demon-like tone then retreats his hand back inside the hatch. Matt pops up leaving the can and goes to the glass. Staring through it, to the edge inside where the hatch was, to see the imp laying on the floor and other imps surrounding him on their knees trying to check his pulse and breathing.
Matt anxiously thinks of what to do as he paces. He doesn't know what he should do so he just calls 911. "911 what's your emergency." Says a female voice. "Hold on, is this the Boston police department?." Matt asks. "Um, yes, do you have an emergency?" She responds. "Nevermind then, I don't." Matt hangs up. "Dangit! I don't know what The Realm's call number for emergencies is!" He says to himself. He then just shouts. "Someone call an ambulance there's an imp here who is hurt...or something." Matt doesn't really know what happened he just knows something happened.
He begins walking away as an ambulance arrives. "Oh shoot, I forgot my root beer." he thinks to himself. He turns around and sprints through the crowd gathered and into the scene. Josie was in the snoopy crowd. "Matthew what the heck are you doing?!" She yells. "I have to get my root beer!" Matt snaps back. "An imp just had a stroke and your just strolling past ambulances and the imp's crying family members for a drink and you don't find that just a little twisted?!" She yells as he picks up his root beer from the bin. "I don't know." He says not really paying attention to her. Matt starts walking back then is stopped by medics carrying a stretcher with the imp on it. He stands in the middle of the scene with a root beer in his hand. Josie scoffs at him from a few yards away. Matt then walks through the crowd as the medics pass.
He sighs. "Can't I just have a normal freaking day?!" He thinks to himself as he continues down the sidewalk.
He passes the arena and comes to the line of shops. The shops were small and all connected and you could access a shop from it's neighboring by a door-less doorway in the back of each shop. They were all built from a form of stone and because all the shops being connected it was most recognized as a long mall but with many front doors because each was it's own shop.
After halfway passing the whole of the mall, Matt rolls his eyes as a young boy around 6 years old approaches him. Not that he didn't like kids or anything, because he loves them, he was just annoyed that he just couldn't get a break. He was just hoping for a nice peaceful stroll but yet you can't really get those kind of things in The Realm anyways.
"Hey Matt" Says the boy as he walks up to Matt and spins his finger in the air casually making a tiny whirlwind on the tip of his finger. Matt recognized the kid for being the one begging him to use his dojo. "Hey Sam, what's up?" Matt says giving him a fist bump. "Oh nothing much, what about you?" Samuel says forcefully trying to sound like an adult. "Nothing really either, so did you like need something?" Matt asks trying to not sound mean. Samuel stands still awkwardly for a very uncomfortable moment as he stares strangely at Matt. "I don't know, just wanted to say 'hi' I guess." He responds finally, then skips away.
"Okay well that was weird... but definitely not the weirdest today."
He continues his walk planning to shorten it and go back home soon before he's stopped again. When he arrives close to The Realm Gate he turns around to go back. He makes the mistake in looking back and he seeing two teens, one a boy and one a girl. He speeds up trying to avoid them without making it too noticeable. "Hey Matt, wait up!" Says the girl trying to run up to him while holding a small bag over her shoulder. "Hi, do I know you?" Matt asks with a slight tone of annoyance as he stops walking. "Well we haven't met formally but we know you." She says as the boy catches up to them. The girl shakes Matt's hand, "My name is Angela and this kid right here is Preston." She says directing Matt's attention to Preston. "Nice to meet you both." Matt says while smiling weakly at them and examining their features trying to not make it seem freaky.
Angela had a slender nerd sort-of complexion, she was quite attractive with long, silky blonde hair and sky blue eyes. She wore modest clothing with a wavy rose pink skirt that went down to her knees, a nerdy, pale green "save the wildlife" t-shirt, a seemingly expensive pair of glasses and a brown satchel-looking thing over her shoulder held by straps that reached down by her hip where the bag rested.
Preston looked like even more of a nerd and shy, he was tall and skinny with dark brown/black hair and crimson brown eyes. He wore a light blue polo shirt with the white t-shirt showing through the unbuttoning of the top button and tight kakis and the finishing touch of nerdiness, glasses. He also randomly held a rubix cube in his right hand.
"What's with your bag, you know you can shorten the straps so it doesn't drag on the floor." Matt laughs. Angela giggles bringing it around to her front. "It does not reach the floor, just my hip. Anyhow just watch this." She says turning around scanning the area for something then Matt can see her spot someone who lassoed a dragon's foot trying to bring it out of the sky. Angela's face turns infuriated and moves her hand slightly and it's in her bag. She reaches in and pulls out a leaf, she extends her hand and drops the leaf watching it float to the ground softly.
The moment it touches the ground, a rumble like thunder sounds and the leaf transforms into a stunning six foot forest golem-like creature. "Free the dragon." Angela orders it, she then pets the creature's mossy, cracked-rock skin. "Please." She says as he immediately darts faster than any human could and leaps twenty feet in the air to the dragon. The creature pulls a sharp rock from it's skin and slices the rope tied to the dragon's foot and lets it free, getting it done within less than two seconds the creature finally loses suspension in the air and it's 400 pound self crashes to the ground breaking into thousands of little rocks, "Rest in peace." Angela says bowing to the creature's remains. "Cool right, I mean I didn't mean for a perfect situation I just wanted to show you and I guess that came up. The bag is my born object, when I put leaves in it, the bag makes them able to turn into creatures when contacting the ground." She says. "I have it this low because it's easier to access it quick that way." She finishes. "Wow that's neat, I have a staff that allows me to make illusions." Matt says way more impressed by her object.
"That's exactly what we need you for..." Angela says. "So we have a theory that there is magic outside The Realm other than dark magic." Preston speaks up. "We created a device that allows us to track magic, so we need your help to sneak out of the realm, keeping our magic and the device. Like with your illusions..." Preston finishes. "I-I mean I guess, I really have nothing else to do; so what's the plan, I assume you have one already, right?" Matt asks. "Sort-of..." Says Angela. Preston starts again. "So we have a field trip outside The Realm which is our ticket out because if your born in The Realm blah-blah you can't leave 'till your 18 which you already know I presume. With your illusions you can make yourself invisible and us in the bus when we're not... I put it in a nutshell version." "Seems simple enough." Matt says. "So when is this field trip?" He asks. Angela looks at Preston..."Tomorrow." Angela says anxiously hoping it won't be too soon for him. "Woah, okay." He laughs. "I would have liked to be notified earlier, but it's fine, I really have no plans anyway." He says. "Yay! Thank you so much." Angela says jumping up and down and almost hugging Matt. "No problem." Matt says. "Oh and I live at-" He's interrupted. "We know where you live." Says Preston. "Preston." Says Angela. Preston looks at her. "Yes?" He says. "That sounded pretty creepy..." Whispers Angela. "We'll just stop by before school starts." "See ya' Matt." Angela says as they both walk away. "I am going back home right now and taking a freaking nap!" Matt thinks to himself as he immediately runs home and takes a nap.
