Keefe's Pov
I can't believe she was right there, she said she loved me, I believed her. How could I be so stupid? How could I think someone as wonderful and amazing as she would actually considering being with me? I knew she was going to end up with Wonderboy, so why did I think I had a chance? Because her heart tells me a different story, I remind myself. I can't understand why her emotions were so conflicted when she said she blamed everything on me. Does she blame everything on me? How could she not feel anything when I kissed her? Why did she not feel what I feel? All I want to do is hide in this stupid room, in this stupid nice prison, and die. I can't though, I can't give up on her, on what might be an us. The door to my room is thrown open.
"Good afternoon, Keefe. The sky sure is beautiful isn't it?" Brant smiles a cool, evil grin.
I turn sharply to him and throw him a smirk trying to cover up my hurt, "Just as beautiful as me huh?"
His smile quickly turns to a frown, "You know you will do what we tell you or your little girlfriend will pay dearly. I happen to remember the last time she looked death in the eyes she almost didn't make it," he clicks his tongue, "We wouldn't want to take that chance again would we?"
"Foster's strong, she can handle anything," I cover my worry with determination.
"So you are saying that you would want to risk the Moonlarks life again?" Brant questions.
I feel sick to my stomach, "No, I'll do it. What will I be doing again?"
"You will see," Brant chuckles, "Until then have fun with your blonde-haired beauty."
The pyromaniac stalks out of my room swishing his cape behind him. I think back to the six thrones with the star in the middle, in the middle of the star was a rainbow throne. It seems like all of the elements or whatever they are planning to do will leak into that middle area, whoever is going to be sitting there, I feel sorry for them. I jump as a pile of books land next to me. I guess I'll be spending the rest of my afternoon reading filth by Daddy Dearest.
Sophie's Pov
I stare out of my window at the ice-blue sky, the same shade of Keefe's eyes. Tears fill my brown ones as I think of every horrible thing I said to him. Why can't things just be easy like before Everblaze had come along? A sharp noise cuts me out of my thoughts. Jolie in all of her snobby, evil glory stands before me.
"Beautiful day is it not?" her chipper voice asks.
I shrug, "Why are you here again?"
"I need to get you dressed for tonight!" Jolie squeals.
I groan. She pulls me up off of the floor a bit harder than necessary. Jolie shoves me into a dressing room where only one dress is displayed on a mannequin. A sleek silver gown that is super shiny and tight, and a glowing silver circlet.
I don't understand why we need to get all fancy if we are going to be killing someone. I just hope the Black Swan will get here in time. When I step out of the room Jolie is waiting for me with a hairbrush in one hand and a heated curler in the other. I sit down in the seat she is waiting at without being told. She puts my hair in a twisted updo and curled the top.
My makeup is a silver smokey eye, I hope that I won't have to do this every time we have to do this weird element thing. Jolie wears a green and brown dress with a glowing green circlet and the same updo as me. She sets the brush down signaling that she is done. I stand up dreading what awaits at the end of the hallway.
Biana's Pov
Tonight we will get Keefe, Tam, and Sophie back. And this time it will actually work, no surprises. We have been training all day, both with our abilities and weapons. Everyone has been a mess trying to prepare themselves for whatever might happen. I hear soft footsteps come towards me, I feel an arm wrap around my shoulders. I look over to see my strawberry-blonde haired boyfriend.
"Hey," I whisper.
"Hi," he mumbles back, "How are you holding up? You ready for tonight?"
I shrug leaning into his warmth, "I just keep thinking that something will go wrong and..."
Dex squeezes me tighter and wipes off the tears cascading down my cheeks, "We will get them, I can't guarantee that everything will go as planned. I can guarantee that everyone here will try their hardest to bring all of them home."
I peck him on the cheek and a blush creeps up his face, "Thanks. You have always been there for me when I needed you. I know that both my brother and I haven't been the kindest to you, and I am truly sorry for that."
"It's fine, I wasn't exactly the nicest to you either," Dex admits, "None of that matters anymore anyway, we have each other now." he takes my hand.
I clear my throat, "We should probably get ready huh?"
"I think that we have a few more minutes," he assures.
I laugh, "And what do you suggest we do with those minutes?"
"I have a few ideas," he says with some sort of newfound confidence.
Dex leans in and brushes his soft lips against mine, he then moves his kisses to scatter across my face. I giggle and tilt his face to focus back on my lips. We jump about 10 feet away from each other when we hear a voice clear. I glance at my doorway to see Fitz.
"Shouldn't you be getting ready to save our friends instead of making out with my sister?" Fitz growls glaring at Dex.
"It wasn't just his fault Fitz!" I exclaim, "Why do you always blame him?!"
Dex slinks toward the door, "I-I really should go like Fitz said we should be getting ready, sorry for distracting you."
I sigh, "Fitz you need to apologize to him! I'm not an object that you can protect forever! What do you have against Dex? Just because his parents were a bad match he's not as good as you?! Go I need to focus."
I slam the door in his face and channel the anger I have towards getting ready to save my best friends.
Sophie's Pov
Jolie leads me down the seemingly neverending hallway. When we enter the room it is mostly dark, only lit with the dim glow of all the thrones. In the middle of the star, is a rainbow throne. Only it doesn't look as happy and go-lucky as you are thinking, the rainbow has a darkness to it, the shades of the rainbow are dark, a deep maroon, blood red, murky, almost brown-orange, tinted, dark, mustered, yellow, pine green, navy blue, and dark, dark purple. On the arms of the chair, there are wrist clamps, on the bottom, there are ankle clamps. This throne is meant to restrain someone. I have a bad feeling that that is exactly what it is going to do. Before we sit down I am handed a black cloak with yellow and orange accents the design would have been pretty if it wasn't for this evil organization.
Jolie and I are the first ones here, we take our seats and wait for the others. Ezra, Jayvyn, and Tam come in taking their seats, for a second I look over at Tam and see fear painted on his face. A few moments later Brant pulls Keefe in by the arm.
I gasp seeing the frail broken boy that had once been strong and confident. A sharp pain rips through my heart seeing him like that.
Keefe sits in the rainbow throne the clamps luckily do not close, Jolie sits in the green, Ezra in the translucent grey, Jayvyn in the blue, Brant in the yellow and orange, Tam in the black, and me in the silver. I know it is time to begin.
"You all might be wondering why you are here," Jolie states, "I will explain. When Sophie and Tam came to us, willingly or not we realized that the legends were true, and Runic Blaze is indeed real. Lady Gisela, you were indeed correct."
Keefe's mom steps out of the shadow to reveal herself. Keefe pales seeing is supposedly locked up mother.
"Hello, Keefe. Miss me?" she ponders.
The blonde-haired boy says nothing and looks down at his seat.
Brant clears his throat to continue explaining, "We thought if Quintessence and Shadowflux were able to be combined in different ways, why not all the elements?"
"I had used the same elements during my son's transformation," Lady Gisela states, "I then wondered, would his ability become stronger if we added more to it?"
Jolie picks back up, "And that brings us to now. Brant, as you all know, is a Pyrokinetic. He will be using Everblaze to light the star that you see before us. Jayvyn as a Hydrokinetic will weave the water into the Everblaze to add to its power. Most people assume that it will always be one or the other, but if used correctly they will feed off of each other. Tam is a Shade, with Shadowflux you can do many different things, but mixed with both water and Everblaze it will create Nightblaze. (A./N. I know cheesy name) Ezra being a Guster will use his winds to erupt the flames. I myself as a Geokinetic can use the earth to shift where the flames will go and fuel them. And finally, the lead of our show, the Moonlark is a Flasher. She will bring Quintessence to the hungry blaze, everything will flash as the flame sucks the light out of the room. By the end, Keefe should be sitting where he is with glowing blue eyes, a powerful new ability that no one has ever heard of, and the flame still burning in the colors of yellow, orange, blue, black, purple, grey, green, and silver."
Keefe's Pov
I sit in the cold chair trying to figure out how Mother Dearest got out of Exile, then I remember Foster telling me, "Hindsite is a dangerous game". I block out Jolie's rant about what is going to happen, that is until I hear Foster's name. Everblaze ignites above Brant's one hand, he flicks his wrist and the blazing inferno fills the lines of the star. The lady named Jayvyn splashes a wave of water to meat it. The voices of my friends fill my ears. It's too late though the process has already begun. Tam reluctantly seeps his Shadowflux into the mix turning the flame a dark black with crackles of purple flying off. A strong wind gathers in the room, stirring up the strong blaze.
"Please stop!" a voice that sounds a lot like Biana begs.
The sounds of fighting and metal clashing shows that there is a fight. Everblaze is well prepared though, Jolie and the rest of her crew multitask, somehow being able to stay focused and fight the Black Swan. Although the sounds of clashing get nearer proving that good will triumph evil. Jolie grows green vines caging in the flames, they will not be contained though. The flame eats away the withering green using it as fuel. I open my eyes to meet Foster's face, tears rolling down her cheeks as she whips her head around seeing her friends vie to save us.
"Sophie, if you do not do it now the flame will consume your precious boyfriend and there will be no hope for your friends and family," Jolie encourages in a not so encouraging way.
I look around to see all of my friends fighting for their lives. Dex is struggling with my Mom who has a dagger held to his throat.
"Just do it, I'll be fine," I beg.
Sophie sobs, "But, what will I do without you?"
I shrug, "You might not actually lose me."
She nods and takes a deep breath. A flash of silver wraps around the flame.
"NO!" I hear a voice scream.
Dex's Pov
The flames erupt around Keefe and my instincts kick in. I twist out of the vise-like grip of my captor and stab her with my dagger. I leap across the star and lunge for the blonde-haired, selfless, yet self-centered, ice blue-eyed boy shoving him out of the throne. I use my telekinesis to throw him over the powerful silver blaze. The metal clamps around my wrists and ankles. I know that there is no going back from my decision.
(A./N. haha you really thought I would leave you like that?)
Biana's Pov
I scream as the flames curl around my boyfriend, embracing him. Tears flood down my cheeks and all I can do is stand and watch. After the blaze engulfs him they fade away only a small kindling of them remains. I sprint toward him yanking my self out from Fitz's arms.
"No, no, no, no, no, no," I mumble pulling his slumped body from the throne.
I place my fingers on his neck feeling a faint heartbeat.
"Someone go get Elwin he is still alive!" I scream.
No one moves.
I look up from his face to stare at my friends, "W-w-why aren't you doing anything. Go! H-he can still make it. He has to make it."
I hear Dex groan and I rush over to him. I cradle his head in my arms. His periwinkle eyes flutter open and his breathing is ragged.
"Bi?" he whispers.
"It's ok, we're here. I'm here," I murmur, "Seriously! Do you all want him to die?" I scream at my blank looking friends.
Sophie is curled him Keefe's arms sobbing, Fitz is comforting a crying Lihn, Tam, Wylie, and Marella are just standing there in shock. Everyone a part of Everblaze fallen.
"Biana," Dex rasps, "It's ok. I knew when I jumped in there that there would be no chance for me. This is where my story ends, I just need you to promise me a few things."
I nod leaning down.
"Promise me that you will move on, that you will give my gadgets to tinker to keep working on, to tell my family and the triplets that no matter what I'm always gonna be here. I'm always gonna be here," he reassures brushing his fingers against my cheek to wipe the tears away.
"I-I wish I didn't have to say goodbye."
Dex sucks in a sharp breath, "Just remember that I love you and if you need me. My wanderling will be there."
He takes his final breath and his chest stops moving. Tears blur my vision as I weep over him. Remembering all the times that I could have spent with him, but didn't.
A./N. Ok, so I'm just gonna go.......
