valentina returned home shortly before the clock struck midnight - cinderella would be proud - and immediately made her way into the kitchen to get food, seeing as she hadn't eaten anything proper since lunch time.

"hiya." valentina dropped the glass she was holding, causing it to break across the floor.

"mierda! oh, sofía, look what you've made me do, you idiot." valentina shrieked, scrambling to pick up the glass. sofía stood there in fits of giggles, trying not to cry with laughter.

"i'm so sorry." sofía said in between breathy laughs.

"no you're not."

"you're right, i'm not." sofía started laughing even more, causing valentina to reach out her arm and punch her cousin. "so... how is hector?" she asked after calming down a bit.

"he's alright. he said he'll have to come round soon though; see his second favourite torres."

"good, i miss him. i miss all of the boys to be fair. but it'll be good to see hector. you'll have to have your next night round here, maybe invite rob and alex as well."

"yeah, i'll think about it. depends if you'll make me smash anymore glasses."

"shut up, it was an accident. i didn't realise you'd scare so easily." valentina rolled her eyes at sofía's words. "anyways, are you working tomorrow?"

"yeah, i'm working all week. should have next monday off though. oh, and if you want to go to the match on sunday, tell me and i'll sort you out to sit with all the wags. or me, depends if they have me on duty or not."

"alright, i'll go if you're gonna be with me, if not, it doesn't matter."

"okay, i'll see if they've sorted out which of the medical staff they're using on sunday and sort it all out tomorrow."

"alright, thank you."

sofía and valentina stood in the kitchen, tidying away the remnants of the glass. it was one of the most annoying things that sofía had done to valentina, and that says a lot.

it didn't take long for everything to be cleaned up, leaving valentina to get on with what she was doing before disaster struck.

"is everything alright vale?" sofía asked, her cousin's face said a thousand things. none of them pointed to being alright.

"yeah. i'm just tired, and i've got to get up super early as per usual. i probably shouldn't have stayed at héctor's so late, but you know how it is." valentina yawned, as if to get her point across.

"you should hurry up and get to bed then."

"yeah, let me finish eating and tidying up and then i will." she looked at sofía's face, a mixture of stubbornness and dissatisfaction evident. "stop mothering me."

"not until, you start looking after yourself properly, you have to get your sleep. don't worry about tidying up, i'll do that. go. to. bed."

"yes ma'am." valentina stated sarcastically, before mimicking a salute and walking over to where her bedroom was.

valentina ended up spending the next half an hour or so thinking. her brain was going a thousand miles an hour. it was too many thoughts to even contemplate sleeping. she spent another half hour after that trying to find a comfortable sleeping position. when that failed she laid on her back and stared at the ceiling, willing her body to let her sleep. and when everything failed, she got out of bed and made her way into the kitchen to get a drink.

she planned on grabbing a drink and going back to bed. instead, she sat at the little table she'd bought when she first moved in with sofía. "you can't not have a table, eating on the sofa is so bad for you." she remembered saying when sofía questioned her. there wasn't much room in the flat but the table was only small; it slotted perfectly in front of the big window.

vale often spent evenings sat here. she enjoyed watching the cityscape at night time. all of the roads still bustling with people going to or from work. it was one of her favourite parts of city life, the idea that everyone was being busy gave her a feeling of happiness and safety.

she stayed watching the city breathe long after the last of her drink was gone. the calmness that she had found within herself had compelled her to stay. tiredness was now long forgotten, and, although she knew it would come creeping back up on her sometime during the day, she let that convince her to stay until the sun started to make an appearance.

soft orange and pink hues now filled the corners of the four walls containing valentina, signifying to her to start her morning routine. reluctantly, she stood up from the table and went to get breakfast. she thought that it was times like this that most people would grab a coffee, however she hated coffee so opted for a tea instead.

valentina took more time and care with the way she presented herself this morning. she had no reason to, but the extra time allowed her the luxury of doing so. she added a few finishing touches to her look before deciding that she was ready to leave. looking at the clock in her room, she realised that she was still going to be a while early; deciding she didn't have anything better to do, she left. she'd figure out how to spend that extra time when she got to it.

the traffic was slower than usual. what is normally a constant stream of a a few cars, was now a stream of a lot more. fortunately, it only took a few minutes that it would normally. and with valentina leaving earlier, it only ate into the time that she had spare.

by the time she got to the training centre, she had twenty minutes until she was needed. she made the short walk to a nearby cafe that she frequented. she planned on getting some food for her lunch to save her from having to make the trip later.

she was still relatively early by the time she returned but it didn't much matter. valentina made her way into her office, getting ready for her day ahead. she wasn't expecting an overly busy day but she had a few more faces to see.

valentina found that throughout the day, the players she was meant to see, turned into whoever was free and felt like catching up. she wasn't bothered by it, she just found it funny how they'd inadvertently made her busier than how her original day planned out. it was especially ironic how most of them started off with "sorry to interrupt, i'm sure you're extremely busy."

rob was the last person to walk through valentina's door. his day was finished so he went to see if she wanted to get dinner because "he missed her," and they "hadn't had chance to catch up properly yet."

they ended up buying enough takeaway to feed an entire family and taking it back to valentina's, so at least they could feed sofía some of it. this way, they'd both feel less guilty about how much they got and how rob should not be eating it at all.
