"Yeah Im doing okay."I said on the phone
"That's good."Aubrey responded
He was really short with me.I wasn't sure why.
"Is everything okay?"I asked
He cleared his throat."Yeah."
"I already know about you and her.We aren't together.I don't have a problem with you doing you."I assured him
He paused.
"I don't want you feel betrayed or anything."He said
I shrugged."I promise I'm fine."
I finished straightening my last piece of hair.
"Jas."He called
I focused back to my phone.
"Hmm?"I hummed
"You look beautiful."He said
I slightly smiled."Thank you."
I was getting ready for Elle's gender reveal.Im team girl so I'm dressed in all pink.
I put on my lipgloss and grabbed my things.
"Im about to go.Maybe we can talk sometime this week."I said
"Uh..yeah.Okay."He nodded
"Okay.Bye."I said
"Bye.Love you."He said
I hung up and walked out to my car.
I really didn't feel like dealing with his shit.He continuously lies to my face.
When I got to Elle's house, she had her parents and Jason setting things up in the backyard.I decided to come help with that.
"Hey Jason."I said as I walked in
"Hey Jas.Uh Mr.Jones, mama, this is Jasmine.A friend of ours."He introduced me
"Nice to meet you."I said
"Nice to meet you too honey.Are you here to help?"Ms.Jones asked me
"Yes ma'am.Put me to work."I smiled
"No problem.Could you put the table clothes on the tables and the centerpieces?"She asked
"Of course."I nodded
I got to work and after about an hour we were all finished.
Guests started to show up and I grabbed a drink and sat at my table.
"Hello."I saw a guy sit next to me
"Hi."I said
"Jasmine?"He read my name card on the table

"So I take it you're team girl?"He asked
"That I am."I nodded
"What's up with the black?"I asked
"I think these are kind of stupid..but my cousin's happy."He said
"You're Jason's cousin?"I ask
"That I am."He mocked me
I chuckled.
"Why do you think it's stupid?I think it's kind of cute."I said
"Eh..throwing a party to celebrate the genitalia of an unborn sac of cells just doesn't really excite me."He explained
I chuckled."Well..when you put it that way."
We both stopped our laughter and we gazed at each other.I looked away first.
"So..Jasmine.What's your deal?What do you do?"He asked
"I own a PR firm."I said
"Oh wow."He said
"I get that reaction a lot."I chuckled
"It's just..rare to see beautiful women in LA actually be business owners."He said
I blushed.
"Thank you."I said
"What do you do?"I asked
"Im a bassist.I play with H.E.R, Anderson Paak and The Internet occasionally."He said
"Oh so you must be pretty good then?"I asked
"You could say that."He nodded
We started to eat, I learned that he was vegan.He was pretty funny too.Definitely different.
"So..are you in a relationship?"He asked
"Because I'd kill a man to take you out sometime."He joked
I chuckled."Um..no I'm not but I'm not really doing the dating thing right now.Im kinda finding myself right now.If you know what I mean."
"I do.I respect it."He said
"Alright everyone, we just want to thank you all for coming out.It means so much to have everyone we love here.We're gonna go ahead and start the reveal."Jason got on the microphone
The both grabbed the confetti cannons and I grabbed my phone to record.
"1-2-3!"The pulled and pink confetti shot up into the sky
"Ahhhh!!"I cheered
I looked over at Marcus who wore a smile as well.
While the party died down I finally got to talk to Elle.
"I saw you and Marcus."She smiled
"Oh my god he's hilarious."I chuckled
"One date wouldn't hurt anyone."She said
"I don't think that's best for me right now.I think I need some more me time before I start dating around."I said
She nodded."I know.He's just a really good guy.Hopefully when you're ready, I can work something out with my matchmaker skills."
I chuckled."Let me know how that goes."
"Elle, honey, we wanna get some photos."Her mom came to her
She looked to me.
"Go ahead."I nodded to her
She walked away and I decided to grab another drink from the bar.
I went to sit back down, my introverted nature really held me back at times like this.
I could see Marcus across the yard with the men, drinking beers.
I decided to just check my phone.
Nothing but work emails.I really need to get some more friends.It's just hard to make them when you don't go anywhere so that's my dilemma.
At some point Marcus made his way back to me.
"I know you're doing you but could I get your number?"He asked boldly
I slightly smiled."Sure."
I put my number into his phone and handed it back to him.
"It was really nice meeting you.I think I'm going to head home."I told him
He nodded."Can I walk you to your car?"
"Of course."I said
"I hope you like phone calls.Im not much of a texter."He said
"I do.Good to know."I chuckled
We got to my Benz and he opened the car door for me.
"Thank you."I hugged him and got into the car.
I started it and rolled down the window.He bent down to it.
"You drive safe."He said
"Will do."I nodded
He smiled and waved at me as I drove off.
When I got home, flowers were waiting outside my door.

"Mm."I rolled my eyes and put them in the kitchen.
I sighed and thought of what to do.It had been a while since I smoked some weed and watched cartoons.
"Yeah.That sounds good."I assured myself
I went to my bedroom and showered before throwing on a huge t shirt.
I went outside with my pre-rolled blunt and lit it on my balcony.I smoked about half of it before I ashed it and went inside.
I ordered some food from postmates and turned on Bob's Burgers.
I giggled at the tv when my phone rang.It was a random number.
"Hello?"I said
"Is this Jasmine or did I get a fake number?"I heard
It was Marcus.
I giggled."Nope this is Jas."
"You sound different on the phone."He said
"Welll..Im high as shit so Im probably slurring."I said lazily
He chuckled."Yeah that's what it is."
"I wanna play twenty questions."I said and got comfortable on my couch
"Alright go."He said
"How old are you?"I asked
"I'll be thirty three in a few weeks.You?"He asked
"Happy early birthday!Im 29."I smiled
"Thank you."He said
"Okay your turn."I said
"Uh...what's your favorite cartoon?"He asked
"Easy.Rick and Morty."I said
"I knew I liked you for some reason."I could hear him grinning
I blushed."Is that your favorite too?"
"Yeah it's a tie between that and boondocks."He said
"I've never seen boondocks."I said honestly
"Whatttt?Noo."He said dramatically
"I just never got into it."I said
"We gotta change that."He said
"Okay."I giggled
"Where are you from?"I asked
"Inglewood born and raised.Where are you from?"He asked
"Toronto."I said
"Wait a minute...you're a whole Canadian?"He asked
"Yesss."I chuckled
"I never met a Canadian person before.Ion know what to do."He joked
"Don't do anything.We're not that much different."I told him
As the night went on, we talked for hours.I could hear him start to smoke too.
"Why aren't you dating right now?"He asked
"Uhm..I've been in three pretty shitty relationships this year and I just think I should focus back on myself."I told him
"Damn.Im sorry to hear that."He said
"Oh no it's fine.Im doing okay."I told him
"Well let me know when you're ready.I call first."He said
I smiled."Okay.I'll be sure to remember that."
I looked at my phone.
"Hey it's getting pretty late.I appreciate you calling.I had a good time."I said
"Me too.I don't wanna keep you.Go ahead and get your beauty rest."He said
I chuckled."Goodnight."
"Goodnight Jas."He said and hung up
I smiled slightly.

"You good?"Chubbs asked me
We were in a section at a club in Vegas but I wasn't feeling it.I miss Jasmine.A lot.
"Yeah..You think we can get Jas out here for a couple days?"I asked him
"Why are you doing this bro?You just had Robyn here with you.Don't play with her emotions like that."He told me
"She's cool with it."I shrugged
"And you believe that?"He looked at me sideways
"Yeah..why wouldn't I?"I asked
"No woman that wants to be with you would be cool with you sleeping with your ex."He told me
I sighed."She's doing her own thing.Am I supposed to wait for her?"
"Im not saying that.If you're not going to wait for her then leave her alone.Don't strong both of them along.That's not gonna end well."He said and patted my back
The next morning
When I woke up I made sure to call Jasmine.I called her office phone.
"Jasmine Davis' office.Who am I speaking with?"Her assistant answered
"It's Drake, Nyah."I told her
"Oh.I send you through, sir."She said
I waited a few seconds and Jas answered.
"Jasmine Davis."She answered

"Aubrey why are you calling my office phone?"She asked
"I wanted to talk.For real."I told her
"What is there to talk about?"She asked
"I feel like you're upset with me but you aren't telling me what's wrong.What's the issue?"I asked her
She sighed.
"On our first date..you told me that you and Rihanna were done for good.You looked me in my eyes and told me that.Then you tell her that you don't love me and Im a fucking burden.And now you're fucking her.That's my problem."She said
"Im sorry..that I lied to you.It wasn't intentional-
"Honestly, I don't want to hear that.I just think that for now..we should stop..whatever this is.You love her more th-
"That's not true."I cut her off
"Aubrey you are not in love with me."She said
"Yes I am Jas."I argued
She sighed.
"I don't know what I have to do to prove my love- I send you flowers everyday."I told her
"Flowers don't mean shit when you're fucking your ex!!"She raised her voice
"Okay..I'm getting upset.I'm going to remove myself from this conversation."She said lowly
"I don't want to upset you.Im just trying to understand what you want."I said
"I want you to stop messing with her but you won't do that so leave me alone."She said and hung up
