Bonnie apprehensively walked the way Malia had gone. There was blood on the floor when Bonnie reached the bottom of the steps. She let out a gasp when she saw Tracy swing her arm at Malia. She couldn't help but stare at Malia's transformation. The bones in her face had reconstructed making her forehead bigger and her nose thicker and turned upwards. She had fangs and claws and blue glowing eyes. Bonnie was scared, she couldn't help but be overwhelmed by fear at the sight of the two creatures, but she tried to remain calm and remember that they were actually two teenage girls.
Malia grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks. She kicked her leg forward and brought it back, swinging it into the back of Tracy's leg. Tracy fell to the floor and Malia did a rolly poly, still holding onto Tracy's arm. Malia let go and grabbed Tracy's leg.
Bonnie took this moment to run to Natalie who was lying unconscious to the left side of the room. She dropped to her knees beside her.
"Natalie!" She said as she shook her. But she didn't wake up. Bonnie looked towards Malia and Tracy. Malia held both of her arms in her hands, griping at her wrists, her knee pressed against her neck. The two of them growled at each other, then Tracy became human again as she began struggling to breathe. Malia transitioned back at the same time Tracy did. She waited a couple of seconds and stepped back abruptly, looking at Bonnie while Tracy clutched at her throat and coughed.
"Is she okay?" Malia asked, gesturing to Natalie.
"I think so! S-she's still breathing." Bonnie stuttered, taking another look at her auntie.
"Tracy?" Malia asked, as Tracy looked around, obviously confused as to where she was. "Tracy... You're not dreaming."
Tracy stood up slowly.
"This is real. All of this is real." Malia told her, her breathing still heavy. Tracy looked around, her eyes landing on Bonnie holding Natalie's body. "You get that? You're not dreaming, Tracy!"
"What..." Tracy paused taking in a breath, "What is happening to me?"
Before Malia could answer someone appeared as if out of thin air and injected a liquid into Tracy's neck.
Bonnie felt her blood run cold as her eyes scanned over the figure. She had to blink a few times to realise she wasn't having a nightmare. This was real, they were here, in the flesh.
Malia ran to intervene when another one turned up, placing it's robotic gloved hand against her face. It held her against the wall with a great force that seemed to be effortless to it. Malia groaned in pain and tried to move, but it used it's other hand to grip her chin and hold her in place. Bonnie fell backwards, her body beginning to shake. Fear overcame her, her breathing became staggered.
A silver liquid streamed from Tracy's mouth. The strange being, still holding Tracy made clicking noises, almost like robotic hissing.
"Her condition is terminal." It spoke. It let go of her and she soon dropped to the ground with a loud thud. Bonnie watched as it began to walk away, everything in the room slowed and the one holding Malia in place followed the first one. The third one joined at it's side, following the others. Malia slid down the wall, heaving shaky breaths and fighting away tears. She looked at Tracy's dead body for a moment, then looked back to watch them walk away, the flights flickering in and out and seeing them disappear though the wall. The shaking Bonnie crawled across the floor, her body feeling weak due to the shock. She shook her auntie again and when she didn't wake up she hauled herself up so she was on her feet. She stepped around Natalie and walked over to Malia nervously.
"H-have they gone?" Bonnie stuttered, the fear in her voice made it obvious to Malia that, whatever just happened, did happen. Malia nodded, still quivering. Bonnie walked apprehensively over to Malia, she held her hand out for her to take. Malia looked up at her, waiting a moment before she put her cold hand in Bonnie's. She pulled her up off the floor. The two of them looking down the short corridor that they left by. It was a dead end.
"What were they?" Malia asked, through her staggered breaths, her blue eyes glassy.
"I don't know..." Bonnie breathed, a tear running down her cheek as she looked back at Tracy's lifeless body and the ever growing pool of silver liquid forming on the floor, she turned back to Malia. "But I've seen them before."
Natalie stirred, a groan escaping her lips cutting their conversation short. Bonnie walked over to her and placed a hand on her back.
"Natalie?" She asked. Natalie slowly began to get up, shaking. "It's okay, you're okay." Bonnie told her, trying to keep her calm, "Keep your eyes on me, and only on me, okay?" She didn't want her to see Tracy's dead body.
Natalie nodded as Bonnie placed her arms on her shoulders and began to walk backwards towards the basement stairs. Natalie went to turn her head but Bonnie used a gentle hand to turn her chin. "Eyes on me."
When they reached the stairs, Bonnie stepped aside. "Get help for Lydia, and tell her I love her."
Scott, Theo, Stiles and Deaton entered the Sheriff's station not knowing what to expect. Scott saw a deputy helping the Sheriff up and he broke into a run to reach them. Stiles saw Lydia on the ground, her pale skin wet with sweat, he stood frozen in the doorway. Theo acted immediately and ran past him. He unbuckled his belt, pulled it from around his waist. He dropped to his knees beside her and slid it under her back, he pulled it tight to help stop the bleeding.
"Bonnie," Lydia whispered incredibly quietly to Theo. He snapped his head to look at her, taking a moment to take in what she had said. He then turned to Kira.
"Bonnie? She's here?" He asked, receiving a nod from Kira. "Where is she!?" A wave of desperation washed over him, he feared for her life as he looked down at Lydia. He immediately thought the worst. Natalie appeared from the basement, her eyes landing on Lydia. She got over to her side as quick as she could.
"Basement." Kira answered, disrupting Theo from his bad thoughts. He grabbed Kira's hand and placed it on the belt.
"Keep pulling on this, keep it tight." He told her, she only nodded in return. Theo got to his feet and followed Scott, Stiles, Deaton and the Sheriff in a hurry, down to the basement. Scott was first, his eyes landing on Malia who was standing, looking at Tracy's body on the floor. The room filled quickly, everyone's attention on Tracy. But not Theo.
He reached the last step, his heart was beating so fast with nerves. When he entered the room, his eyes trailed over the people crowding around the body on the floor. For a split second he believed it was Bonnie, his chest heaved up and down, a shiver running down his spine.
"Theo?" Bonnie asked quietly. Theo's eyes widened, his head turning to see the girl he liked so much on the ground, her back against the wall, her knees pressed against her chest. He let out a relieved breath and walked the few amount of steps to her. He bent down on one knee, holding both of her arms and helping by pulling her up with ease.
Theo's worried eyes traced over the untouched Bonnie, he placed his hands on each side of her face, looking deep into her eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asked worriedly. Bonnie nodded her head, her deep breathing and tear stained cheeks telling him otherwise.
"Is Lydia going to be okay?" She asked him, licking her dry lips in anticipation. She couldn't hold back the tears as she thought about her cousin.
"The ambulance has arrived, she's going to be fine." He told her, his heart wrenched in his chest seeing her like this. "You're not hurt? Tracy didn't hurt you?"
"No," Bonnie informed him, "I'm fine. But" She paused for a minute, leaving Theo nervous for what she was about to say. "Theo... They were here."
She didn't expect her face to collide with Theo's chest when he pulled her into him and wrapped his arms around her tightly. "It's okay, they're gone now. And they're not going to hurt you."
Bonnie felt the warmth of his body engulfing hers, she felt safe when he held her. She was quick to hold him back.
"What the hell happened to her?" The sheriff asked, making the Theo release Bonnie. He interlocked his fingers with hers as they stood, taking in the scene.
"There was these people. They had masks, there were um, three of them. There were three.." Malia said, struggling to get her words out or to even describe them. Fear evident in her face.
"What are you talking about?" Stiles asked her, obviously worried as he'd never seen his girlfriend this frightened. Malia's eyes filled with tears.
"They were strong Stiles." She stammered. "They had a weapon, Stiles I didn't do this!"
"Okay, it's okay!" He consoled her, taking her in for a hug.
"What about you? Did you see these people in masks?" The sheriff asked Bonnie aggressively, taking a step towards her. Bonnie cowered slightly, tears continuing to fall.
"Yes I did! They injected her with something, and Tracy started bleeding that silver liquid." Bonnie told him, pointing to the puddle on the floor. "It all happened so fast. There was nothing we could do."
"She's not changing back, we have to get her out of here." A man said. Bonnie had never seen before, but assumed was he was the vet, Deaton that Lydia had told her about.
"What, hey. Absolutely not." The Sheriff told him sternly. "This is a crime scene, we call the coroner."
"I think the coroner might be confused by this girl's severed reptilian tail." He replied.
"I don't care!" The sheriff shouted.
"You should. Unless you're prepared to hold a press conference announcing the presence of supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills." Deaton replied. The Sheriff began to pace, his face looking like he was about to explode.
"Dad, he's right." Stiles stepped forward.
"Maybe at the clinic we can find out how to change her back, then call the coroner?" Scott asked.
"there, there is a line.." The Sheriff stammered, "There is a line that we have to draw."
"Dad, you've already crossed it. More than once." Stiles reminded him.
"Sheriff please," Deaton begged. "Let me help. I've dealt with things like this before."
The sheriff shook his head multiple times, trying to think of the right thing to do before he said, "Just do it fast."
Bonnie and Theo followed the others up the stairs with Tracy's body. Scott helped Deaton get her body into his car. "I'll meet you guys at the hospital."
"Let's go!" Stiles said as Theo, Bonnie, Malia and Kira reached his Jeep. At any other time Bonnie would have laughed about having to get into the back of Stiles' Jeep again. Malia got into the front. Bonnie was sandwiched in the back between Theo and Kira.
"Please, please, please be okay," Stiles whispered to himself as he drove way above the speed limit to get there quickly, his thumbs tapping impatiently on the steering wheel.
"She's going to survive this." Bonnie answered him, trying to comfort him. "Lydia is strong."
"What the hell were you doing anyway?" Stiles asked angrily, raising his voice to a near shout. Bonnie blinked in shock when her eye's met with Stiles' through the rear view mirror. "You leave without a scratch on you... What, did you hide in a cupboard or something?"
"Stiles!" Malia warned, confused about her boyfriend's behaviour.
"She was really brave actually! Lydia is hurt, it could have been any one of us. Just concentrate on getting us to the hospital." Kira piped up, finding Stiles' outburst un-rational.
Bonnie slumped in her seat. She thought about how she didn't actually do anything. She couldn't do anything. She had no fighting skills, she didn't even think he was brave enough to get involved. Theo noticed how Bonnie's demeanour changed after Stiles had a go at her, he placed the back of his hand on her thigh. Bonnie looked down at his open palm and smiled slightly, placing her hand in his. He closed his hand, holding hers, her rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand, offering her what comfort he could. Bonnie desperately wanted to speak to Theo about what she and Malia had seen but didn't know when the next chance would be.
When the five of them arrived at the hospital, they went to the front desk where they were told what floor she was on and they were quick to get up there, rushing though the corridors with Stiles leading the way. It was like he knew the hospital like the back of his hand.
After what felt like forever a nurse came into the waiting room.
"Stiles," She greeted, she looked stressed.
"How bad is it, Melissa?" Stiles asked.
"Could have been worse." She told him, walking around him to Theo. "Theo, nice going on that tourniquet. You probably saved her life."
Bonnie grabbed his hand and squeezed it slightly as a silent thank you earning a small smile from him in return. Scott and Liam arrived and Melissa turned to face him. "Alright, shes about to go into surgery, so it's going to be a while. Any other supernatural details that I need to know about or do we just stitch her up and hope for the best?"
"It was the tail." Kira said.
"Yeah, Tracy cut her with the tail if that makes a difference." Scott told her.
"Okay." She said and she walked away.
"But it wasn't just Tracy, there were the others." Malia told the group. "The guys in the masks."
Scott and Stiles looked at each other like they didn't believe her. Bonnie was reminded of the feelings she'd felt before all those years ago when people didn't believe her. But for some reason, she had a small feeling that they hadn't seen the last of them.
The group dispersed and went their separate ways. Theo walked with Bonnie through the hospital.
So many thoughts ran through their heads. Theo thought about how worried he was about Bonnie when Lydia said her name back at the station. It was strange for him, worrying about somebody else. Especially worrying about a girl he'd only known for a few days. Nobody had ever managed to make him feel this way. He felt a strong connection to her, like he was drawn to her in some kind of way. He couldn't quite put his finger on it. All he knew was when his eyes landed on her and he saw her on the floor, even though she was unharmed, his body released the tension he was holding but he felt this need to protect her, and when he pulled her in for a hug... He could feel her body melt into his like it was meant to be. He knew then, that this girl had a hold on him. And there was nothing he could do about it.
