His breath hot on your neck, as he bites softly at your skin. Goose bumps run up your arms as his large hand rubs your cheek. He grabs at your throat hard cutting of the air, leaving you gasping.
"HONK!" Your snapped out of your intense day dream, by a old truck horn, and headlights in your face. You realize that your car was drifting into the other lane. Panic over takes your arms and you pull hard at the wheel. Sending your car sliding sideways, on the slippery wet roads. The spinning comes to a complete stop when the driver door slams into a guard rail, protecting a cliff. If not for the strip of metal you would have dropped 70 feet into a shallow water bank. The confusion fades, and reality sets in on the traumatic events that just took place. Terrified you look out your window to see the drop. Your stomach is in your throat, and your breath is shallow. You take one hard deep breath in, and let out a sob. The tears steam down your face as the fear disappears. As frighting as the sene ahead of you is, you are question the real reason for the tears. Was it the danger, or the fact that your fantasy was only a figment of your imagination? Your about 4 miles from your apartment, and your car is underivable. You just moved to Italy for this case about a week ago, and hadn't had a chance to make friends. Stranded with no ride, you decide to hike it. The rain has lightened, but not came to a complete stop, and dusk is setting in. As you climb out the passenger door you notice a black SUV pull out of a dark rest stop and a drive slowly in the opposite direction. You wonder how long they were there, and if the witnessed the crash. Putting the car out of your mind you briskly jog towards your home. About 2 miles into your walk, you passed 15 cars but none stopped or even seemed to notice. You lost hope in getting a ride, and set your mind into walking the other 2 miles. Until that same black SUV drove past you going alarmingly slow, making you think it was going to stop. But once it passed you it speed away. You couldn't stop thinking of Massimo, and your dream. Although the figure in your mind had no face, you knew who it was meant to resemble. Who was this man, and why was he leaving such a large impact on you? About a mile from your apartment the black SUV approaches you, from behind this time. It's slow drive turns into a stop and the dark tinted window rolls down. Revealing the tall, handsome man himself.
"Are you lost baby girl?" His thick accent mashes the sentence but just his voice was enough to send chills down your spine.
"N-n-o, I'm just... my car, it broke down." You have trouble getting the words out, and are at a loss for thought.
"Well let me give you a ride, anywhere you please." He is calm and not fazed by your confusion.
"Where was this offer a mile back, the first time you passed me?" Your confusion turns to anger, and your voice picks up an attitude. You a little mad he waited so long. Did he enjoy making you suffer?
"I was going to stop then but business came up. You know how it is?" His response interests you. What business? Why be so vague? Did it have anything to do with the death of his wife? You needed to get answers, and a ride would buy you time to snoop. Plus it was getting dark, and late. Or where you making excuses to see hi again. Either way you accept, and his driver comes around to open your door. Inside the vehicle you are overwhelmed with red leather, and fancy lights. You sit a seat away from Massimo, with a arm rest in between you two. His arm laying dead on it, his hand close enough for you to reach out and grab. You fight the urge and sit awkwardly on the edge of your seat, staring at the back of his head. He is facing away looking out the window.
He clears his throat, "can I get you anything to make you a little more comfortable?"
Every dirty thing crosses your mind and you bite at your lip a little. "No no I'm fine, thank you."
His driver spins around and looks at Massimo, awaiting orders. "Where to?" He asks almost as if its Massimo's choice.
He points in your direction.
"The address miss." The question is for you, but the driver doesn't look to you. You tell him your address. The rest of the ride is silent, except for the wind whistling in from your cracked window. As your apartment is coming in view, you feel relived to exit the car. But the driver misses the turn and speeds by, not slowing down. Your confused and now a bit worried.
"My house is back there." You mention, trying to hide the panic in your voice.
"Ok." Is the only stern response you get.
"I thought you where giving me a ride home." Your starting to get agitated.
"I have to go back to my house first, business you know." He is matching your tone of aggression.
"You said anywhere I please, and I please to go home." You start to raise your voice.
"And you'll get there, but on my time." He is speaking louder than you, but not quite yelling. You go silent and make a note of his anger. He is easily agitated and has trouble hiding it, a important factor in your work. Massimo is breathing deep and heavy, clearly still annoyed with your comments. The driver turns on the signal, but there is no turn in sight. Then as you round the corner, a large glowing mansion comes in view. The long driveway is met with a large, black, iron gate. The vehicle flashes its lights at the guy in the guard house and the doors open, and close right behind the SUV. Right inside the gate, the car stops, and Massimo gets out.
"Wait here, I won't be long. Do not move from the car." His orders are stern and clear. You only roll your eyes at him. Why would he boring you here, to keep you in the car? Why not let you out at your apartment? Did he want to show off his home? These question now fill your head, but you know you will not get answers. Since Massimo is not a fan of questions, or a man of many words. True to his word, Massimo returns in a few minutes. He is whereing a different dress shirt then before, but you do not question him. You learned from previous matters not to ask more than you need to.
"Let's go." Massimo directs the driver. The car backs out of the drive and speeds down the road. You reach your apartment complexs, and quickly get out. You wanted to leave before he got the chance to drive off to an unexpected location again. You feel his eyes watch you as you walk into the door. Taking the elevator to room 346, you feel relived to be home but sad to part with Massimo again. You don't even know him, why is his presents a necessity for you?
You question yourself the whole ride up. Upon opening your door, you notice a large black box in the middle of your living room. Attached is a small note saying "Enjoy the night baby girl."
