After the presentation, Yejun expressed his admiration and how impressed he was with Sierra. This made Taehyung happy, knowing that pleasing the Kims' wasn't a simple task.
"So how long have you been dating Sierra, son?" Yejun asked as they prepared to leave.
Taehyung darted a look over to Jungkook, who grabbed the remainder of his belongings and dashed out of the conference room.
Yejun grinned before a low chuckle, "It was nothing Jungkook said. You made yourself obvious during her presentation. The way you looked at her, it's the look I used to give your mother when she worked for me." Yejun sighed. "Gosh, that woman. She was a firecracker. Very confident. Great at her job. She certainly kept me straight." Yejun reminisced.
Taehyung frowned as he listened to his father. "D-Dad, I-"
"It's fine, son. I just pity her when you have to come back home. Tomorrow morning, I'm meeting with Miss Baxter to discuss finding your replacement. I don't see you being here any longer than two months tops. You did great, Taehyung." Yejun stated as he patted Taehyung's shoulder.
"Thank you," Taehyung spoke low as his thoughts carried him miles away from his present state.
"Well, you can finish up here. I'm headed back to the hotel before dinner tonight. I'll see you and Jungkook later." Yejun lifted his briefcase from the table and exited the conference room.
Taehyung smiled as he remembered the small interaction he had with Sierra before the presentation. The tension they've built was too overwhelming for him to handle, and he was ready to be rid of it. Taehyung was always used to getting his way, but with Sierra, his way didn't matter.
He was all for her.
A notion occurred to Taehyung, and with a burst of confidence, he collected his belongings and headed back to his suite.
"Jungkook, could you page Sierra and tell her to come to my office, please?"
Jungkook nodded.
Taehyung placed his things on his desk and checked his phone before answering a few emails to kill time. This helped him to gather his thoughts while waiting for the woman he loved.
Sierra sighed after receiving the CEO assistant's call but did as she was told. She left her department and soon rounded the suite's corner, recognizing that Jungkook was missing from his desk, and Taehyung's door opened.
What the hell? She thought. Sierra paused to collect herself.
The silence between her and the CEO since their argument plagued her. After having lunch with her friends, Sierra considered more of his invitation. The desire for her to go with him to Seoul was one thing, but hearing Taehyung admitted that he loved her was what spoke louder than anything. Sierra smiled, realizing how much she loved him too, but it didn't erase the fact that he lacked confidence in their future.
Shouldn't he want to be with me if he loves me? She thought. Sierra knew she needed to apologize for how she left things and give him another chance to explain.
She took a deep exhale before proceeding to Taehyung's office. Once entering, her breath escaped her body as she gazed at the CEO leaned against his desk, marigold locks of hair falling with little effort against his face. Not to mention the pure white collared shirt he wore was a snug fit against his well-defined physique.
Taehyung peered up the moment he sensed another being in his presence and smiled at his visitor. "Miss Harper?" He called.
"Mr. Kim, sir," Sierra answered, relieved that her breath had returned.
"You can close that." He pointed towards the door.
Sierra shut the door behind her while her body erupted in a wave of nerves. She turned to face Taehyung, who remained leaning against his desk, eyes tracing over Sierra's face to figure out the emotion lingering in it.
"Great presentation, Sierra. My father is impressed with the knowledge you have of the company. He's confident that as long as you are here, our systems are in excellent hands." Taehyung shared.
Sierra nodded. "Nice to know I still have a job, I suppose."
A silence hovered them. Taehyung figured the conversation starter only increased the tension between them instead of lessening it.
"Well Mr. Kim, I guess if that's all you needed then-"
"Sierra, wait," Taehyung called out, still keeping his distance from her. There was a slight fear slithering in him; worrying may have lost Sierra before he's been able to begin anything with her.
Sierra averted her attention to him.
Taehyung noticed the way her eyes glistened in the lights. His heart shook, scared of her wonder of him.
"What is it, Taehyung?" She asked.
The mention of work was his ice breaker, but now he needed to tell her what he's been pondering since their argument. "Can we talk?" He gestured for her to sit on the couch adjacent to his desk.
Sierra nodded, and with a slow pace, she made her way over and took a seat. Taehyung exhaled low before he joined her, still keeping a distance between them.
"We should discuss what happened." He uttered.
"Yes, we should." Sierra agreed.
Taehyung pursed his lips, permitting a short but low breath to trickle between them. "After I thought about it, I realized that I might not have explained myself the way I wanted, but I needed to be honest with you, Sierra. A relationship with someone is new to me, and I will fuck up a lot before I get it right."
Sierra chuckled a bit. This brought a small joy to Taehyung.
"I have been wondering how to make this work, but I don't have any solutions right now." Taehyung continued. "I love you, and I want you, Sierra, but I may not return after the wedding immediately. It will be later; well, it has to be because of my, um, you know."
A dent in Sierra's heart made her wince hearing this, but it also relieved her he's been thinking of them. To ask him to stay would regard her selfish. Even though his decision wasn't pleasing to hear, there was another choice she knew she could begin with to aid in his decision.
"At least you thought about it." She smiled. "So, maybe we take our time and see what happens?" She suggested.
Taehyung's heart leaped into his throat as he gulped. "Please? You're important to me and-"
Sierra silenced him with a kiss. Taehyung closed his eyes as he missed the taste of her. The soft strokes of her lips created a warm sensation coursing through him as he rested his hands on her waist and gently lifted her onto him, allowing the kiss to fall deeper.
"I'm sorry." He whispered.
"I'm sorry too."
"Come with me to the wedding, Sierra."
Sierra slowly eased out of their lip lock, peering down at Taehyung's profound mocha gaze as it wandered hers. Her heart drummed between her chest before she parted her lips to speak.
"I'll go with you." She uttered without hesitation. "I love you too."
Elated hearing her feelings for him, Taehyung captured her lips for another kiss. "You deserve some overtime." He grinned as he lowered the back zipper of her skirt down before undoing the button above it.
Sierra smiled. "No, I deserve a raise, Mr. Kim. The removal of my clothes is an extra duty."
Taehyung slid his hands inside her garment and gripped her ass, "Done."
We are getting close to the end.
