Clark and Sarah's apartment
Metropolis, Delaware
"Are you, as a United States Senator, personally comfortable saying to a grieving parent, Superman, or Freedom could've saved your child, but on principle, we did not want him to act,"
The Senator gave a deep sigh, "I'm not saying they shouldn't act. I'm saying they shouldn't act unilaterally,"
"What are we talking about here then?" Charlie grunts. "Must there be a Freedom or Superman?"
Finch shrugs her shoulders, "There is,"
Clicking the Television off, "I don't get it," Sarah exasperates shaking her head back and forth,
Sarah sits on the couch, her legs folded inward, "Different place, same problems," She mumbles.
"Tell me more of your world," Clark says coming up from behind her.
She turns her head and smiles, "My world?" She questions, a laugh escaping her lips, "You make it sound like I'm an alien,"
Clark shakes his head, "There's nothing wrong with being an Alien,"
"Tell that to the media," She mumbles, taking a deep breath in, "I'm going to bed. You coming with?" she asks,
"Yeah," He thought for a minute, "I'll meet you there, I just want to make a call,"
Sarah nods, "Okay," her hand trailing Clark's shoulder.

Clark dialed his mothers number and she picked up rather quickly. "Mom," he calls into his phone.
"Clark! What is it? What wrong?"She questions in concern.
"No-Nothing-I just uh?-Hi," He stammers.
There was a brief pause, it was almost like clark could see the smile she just breathed out, "Hi," she says,
"How come dad never left Kansas?" He questions.
Martha breaths out, "He just uh," As she's remaining a laugh escapes her lip, "You know how he was, what do I need to travel for? I'm already there,"
Clarks eyebrows were still farrowed together, It wasn't the answer he was really looking for, "I just wish it was more simple," he mumbles.
"My baby boy. Nothing was ever simple...Is this about you, or a certain someone?"
Clark smiles softly, Martha knows him so well, "She's been through a lot."
"I know, Honey. If she's told you this much, she must love you. Any other person would think she's crazy." Martha laughs at her own joke, "Another Earth?" Martha mumbles to herself.
"I love her too," The realization hits him another time causing his smile to grow bigger
"We'll, tell 'her' that. Not me,"
Clark laughs, "I do. Every night, and every morning when I wake. She makes me a better person, mom," he trails on,
"You woke me up, in the middle of the night, to tell me what I already know?"
"I had a lot on my mind, with the media, but one thing 'is' clear," He trails on.
"What's that, Clark?
"I want to marry, Sarah," He admits,Clark can almost hear the smile that's beginning to form on Martha's face.
"We'll it's about time. It's been, what? Two years?...I'm happy for you Clark," Martha then thought for a second, "You sure she not listening in? That would ruin the surprise,"
Clark turns his head slightly to listen in on Sarah's shallow breathing. Sarah's fast asleep, "She's sleeping," he says looking down, "You think she'll say yes?"
"She'd be crazy not to. Goodnight son,"
"Goodnight, Ma,"
The call ends.
Clark opens their bedroom door slowly, careful not to wake Sarah up. when Clark reaches the bed he smiles down at her.
Clark sneaks into his side of the bed, he's put to sleep by her soft beating heart beat.
By the time Sarah woke up that morning Clark already left for work. She faintly remembers him whispering 'I love you,' into her ear, while she sleepily replied with an 'I love you,' back.
