Rachel.
The owl hooting, the cicada screeching in the distance, the soft rustling of the leaves, the breeze kissing gently her face were all a symphony to Rachel's war within. The nature was at absolute peace and was a contrast to her state of mind.
From the past few days she has been anything but peaceful. The turmoil surging through each fiber of her body was nothing compared to the war she was battling in her heart. She wasn't in a position to decide the right from the wrong. The more she gave it a thought, the more vulnerable she became with the ticking of each second.
She smiled when the antagonist of the movie she had watched a few days back said that it wasn't a battle between the good and the evil but it was a war between the evil and the less evil. She sighed. Nothing could change her feeling right now. But every time David's face takes a journey through her little head she is driven by pure want and the hatred for Remo knows no bound.
"You didn't come this far to only come this far."
Was the mantra that she kept repeating more to herself these days. The Egyptian quote gave her the strength to go forward with a zeal that was still set blaze within her. The woman within her was beginning to take a front and she knew that there was no turning back anymore. Hardly did she know the fierce woman that she was holding back till now.
Rachel was enjoying the beauty of the nature in front of her, with a plethora of emotions and questions surging through her mind. The bottle of vine in her hand was making her elated and she was slowly beginning to forget the venom of betrayal and was steadily and stealthily embracing the outcome of her mission. REVENGE! PURE REVENGE!
Was she doing the right thing?
Yes! She answers her mocking subconscious. Kiara's questions mocks at her, during the first dinner she had in the Falcone mansion.
Flashback.
"Oh! Kiara. I am so glad that you could make it today." Squeals an extremely delighted Kiara in her seat.
They were all sitting around the dining table and Rachel was busy with the lasagna on her plate. The lasagna was indeed tasty and Rachel didn't fail to make Kiara know about it.
"The pleasure is all mine Kiara." Rachel tells taking Kiara's hand in hers.
Indeed it was her pleasure to be in the mansion, Rachel considered her sharp memory as her boon and was quick to memorize each and every corner of the huge mansion. She made a rough map of it and was quick to hand it over to her dada the next day. The Falcone's did have an unquestionable security system. The mansion was guarded by immensely immense erect walls and was wired with electric wires. Security cameras was placed in each possible corner of the house.
While clearing the dishes of the table, Kiara looked directly into her eyes and tells,
"You are the best thing to ever happen in Remo's life, perhaps you are his best choice so far Rachel."
Rachel almost toppled on her foot and the dishes in her hands were almost saved from breaking by Adamo's timely assistance.
Obviously Remo was Rachel's best choice for his way to be doomed. Mocked her subconscious at her.
Rachel couldn't take the venom of guilt anymore and excused herself and made her way out of the mansion.
It seemed as if each and every word playing on each individual's mouth, their expressions, were all a mockery at the present state of her mind.
---------End of Flashback------------
All these thoughts only doubled her misery. To stop all these mockings she decided to soothe the riot within herself. She moved herself to play the music on her karaoke. The music, 'Love me like you do', wasn't the best of a choice right now, but unexpectedly it was soothing her nerves and she reveled in it.
The time of peace was soon interrupted by the ringing of her doorbell. At first she had thought it to be her figment of her imagination, but when it rang for the second time she was broken from her trance of happiness.
Unwilling she pads towards the door and wonders who could be the reason for interrupting her peace at this hour of the night. The time on the clock showed half past twelve and she inwardly cursed the cause of intrusion under her breath.
She peeped through the peephole and didn't see anything as such. Sweat begins to break throughout her fragile body as the banging on the door continues. She moves back from the door and clings onto her night robe tightly as if clinging onto it would save her from her current predicament. Her throat beginning to dry, the damp palm all proved that she was nothing less than scared or to be more precise she was nothing less than a mess. Her feet felt jelly and it seemed as if it could hold her fragile body anymore. She clung onto the TV stand and was praying for a fast death rather than a slow one.
The banging on the door continued vigorously, it seemed as if the door was to be detached from the bolt any moment.
Suddenly the banging stops, and the door opens with an abrupt motion. It seemed as if her eyes was going to pop out from their sockets any moment. Teh sight before her made her bewildered and weak.
She could see a silhouette near her doorway, a lean yet strong figure, long hair sticking to the forehead, the hand with which the person was holding himself displayed his strong biceps even from the tux. The blood dripping from his forehead and torso was nothing less than a mess and added to her fear. His dress was torn at many places and the aura of blood and sweat was hanging in the hair.
The silhouette moves itself to Rachel, with each step of the silhouette the banging of her heart just gets wilder and wilder. It seemed as if her heart was to bang her rib cage apart. Finally her legs gave away and she nearly collapsed from viewing the most electrifying pair of eyes she had ever seen. The pair of eyes was bloodshot and she saw nothing but revenge and anger dancing in them. She now knew that there was no furthur escape from here and there was no time for repentance nor forgiveness. She just prayed for a quick death rather than the prolong, lingering of pain and torture.
She could feel the silhouette coming closer and closer as the creaking of the floor beneath proved her right. She quickly chanted a prayer when she felt two strong arm grips her tightly.
God! Have mercy!
