'It has been a very quiet time recently. The day after I rescued Ahsoka Barriss repaired her bug in my room. I had it on recording so it was a solid piece of evidence to know she was up to something. Wolffe found me a way into the GARHQ for in an inspection for around an hour. There I found a sergeants key card underneath the flooring, presumably used by Ahsoka in her escape. I found that it was owned by Sergeant Simmons and he mysteriously has no known trace of where he has been since that day, and currently that was the lead I'm following to tying the crimes to Barriss, that should be the last thing I need.'
'And...speaking of Ahsoka...it's been so tough not seeing her. As I promised every day off I would go to Dex's diner, with credits, clothes and I would always write a long note, and so did Ahsoka. So at least I always had something to look forward too knowing I would get to read a nice long letter from her. I hated not being with her, to hold her, to comfort her...but at least she was safe. I just hope all of this can end soon.'
Despite all of this which had to be kept secret, everything in the temple was awful, the mood of the temple switched when Ahsoka was executed, and no one has a clue that she is alive, apart from you and Rex. The only people you enjoy talking too know is Master Plo and Petro, and of course your father. You have tried your best to avoid Anakin at all costs, and he seems more unlike himself than you have ever seen him. 'I'm really worried about him.'
Currently you are in the senate building. You hadn't been here for a while and it was nice to not be surrounded by Jedi. There was a certain bill that needed to be passed with the approval of the Jedi order which you gave to the senate. Right now you sat on one of the balconies of the senate building, there was no one else around, and it was nice to just take in the somewhat fresh air, while just...thinking of her.
As you stare into the density of the Coruscant surface you feel someones presence behind you. You turn around are met with a familiar face that you were quite happy to see.
"Oh, hey Padmé. Long time, no see." you said in a cheerful tone. But her expression was the opposite, she looked at you with fear and caution.
"(y/n)...are you Ok?" She carefully questions.
"...I'm not...but...I should really start trying to get used to it." you admit. You hated lying to people, especially Padmé since she was just such a kind and lovely person.
"(y/n), it's Ok, you don't have to rush yourself to move on. You two were...something really special." Padmé consoles as she walks next to you and joins you in staring at the concrete jungle of Coruscant.
"Ani...he isn't doing too well. He hasn't felt like his normal self recently." you just respond with silence, wanting her to continue.
"I know that...losing Ahsoka would obviously hurt him and I wanted to be there for him...but he just pushes me away now. Says hes fine when he clearly isn't. I don't understand him." Padmé's voice now begins to shake and you look over to her to see her trembling, shaking while holding on to the railing of the balcony.
"I...I've been trying to tell him something...something important...but...but he won't let me. He hardly ever lets me speak." Her eyes begin to gloss up and her breathing becomes louder and quicker. This something important must be very important.
"Padmé, what is it?" you carefully ask letting your curiosity crack through. You instantly regret asking her that.
"(y/n)...I'm...I...I'm pregnant." Padmé utters. Instant shock makes its way on to your face as you stare at Padmé who slowly lets tears roll down her cheeks.
"I...I don't know what to do." She cried. She turned around and you embraced her in a welcoming hug.
"I don't think he will take it well. A child right now wouldn't go well...maybe...maybe I shouldn't have it."
"Don't say that. You just need to tell him. It might shock him at first...but...he is going to love having a child. He loves you." You try to console her, but truly, deep down you didn't know if you believed that, but it wasn't your place to say.
"I'm not too sure about that." She cried into your shoulder.
"Hey, everything will be Ok. When the baby comes, the two of you can leave, go to a place like Naboo and live happily and peacefully. This will all turn out fine Padmé." You console. This was not what you were expecting to be doing today.
"I hope you're right."
"Where is Anakin right now?" You ask taking her head from your shoulder.
"He went on a mission to Ringo Vinda. He said he will be a while." She said still panting. You have never ever seen Padmé like this or even imagined she could get like this. She was always so professional and mature and always level headed and positive. This...this just scares you.
"Padmé calm down. Don't worry, Anakin loves you so much and he will love having a child with you. Ahsoka was like a daughter to him. That's why he's acting like this. You just need to tell him." You told her confidently.
"Ok...I will."
"Good."
"(y/n)?"
"Yes Padmé."
"I'm sorry for putting your through this. You are 17 and you just lost the love of your life...and now your dealing with my marriage problems. It's not fair on you!"
"It's Ok Padmé. Sometimes we get unlucky in life. But we need to make sure we still stay loyal to our morals."
"Thank you (y/n). For everything." you embraced her in one final hug before she left you alone on the balcony.
The next couple days you spent alone, reflecting on your conversation with Padmé. It still shocked you to see her acting like that. People really are different for the ones they love. You sat at your desk in your room silently working on figuring out what happened to Sergeant Simmons. 'He couldn't have just disappeared from Coruscant. Where could he be?' Your deep thought of conversation was interrupted by a knock on your door.
"Come in." The door opens and you glance to see your Master.
"Good afternoon Master."
"Good afternoon (y/n). We have been told that we are needed on a small investigation in Coruscant. A clone has been found hidden in the depths of Coruscant...with lightsaber wounds." Master Plo stated clearly. 'Could it be Simmons.'
"That's rather alarming."
"We leave now."
"Coming Master." You follow your Master out of your quarters and make your way towards the hangar where a ship was already waiting for you. 'Maybe some luck was finally coming my way.'
After the journey you all stepped out of the ship to go into the underground of Coruscant but before you jumped down you noticed that this location was not too far from the GAR Headquarters as the sun perfectly lit it up while it was setting. You followed your Master and jumped down. You followed the local authorities to a quite hostile part of Coruscant. You were led inside what seemed to be an apartment block and went into one of the rooms there. In the room were a couple droids surrounding the closet and old human who looked like he owned the place.
"(y/n) please talk with the owner."
"Yes Master." You approached the elderly gentlemen and coughed to grab his attention.
"Sorry, this has just been a rather scary day." He chuckles. You take your data pad into your hands and prepare to ask him some questions.
"So, how long have you owned this place?"
"For as long as I can remember. But around 40 years." He told you, his accent thick and slurred.
"How and when did you find the body?"
"I found it only about an hour ago. I called the authorities right away. And...he was just sitting in that closet laid against the wall like he is now." You note down his answer.
"Why did you come into this room and check the closet?"
"Well, someone started to rent this room about 5 months ago. And If they don't check in for over 3 months. Then it's the law to inspect their room to make sure nothing serious has happened which has caused their absence. She hasn't been here in nearly 4." He tells you, he seems quite trustworthy and honest.
"Who is she?" you ponder hopeful.
"Her name was, If I remember correctly. Letta (l/n). Though it probably isn't here real name. She was quite startled when I asked her the question." He spoke. That is a lot of information right there. '5 months ago Barris would've been planning all of this. She obviously had Letta on her mind since she was being used. And (l/n) just confirms that her intentions...are tied to me.'
"Ok. What did she look like if you can remember?"
"Couldn't see her face. She was wearing a hood. She was wearing all black. She wasn't very tall and quite small. Probably younger than what she said she was."
"Would you have any video evidence of this?" you ask hopeful once again. This could be it, this could be the final piece of evidence.
"I'm sorry Jedi. But our footage is deleted after every month for storage management." You sigh in frustration but quickly shrug it off, it wasn't the end of the world.
"That's alright. Will you able to provide us with all of your information on this room and her stay?"
"Yes, I got all of that."
"Great. One of the droids should be with you shortly." You inform him, shooting a small smile his way.
"Thank you." He says. You walk away from him and over to your Master and the droids that were inspecting the corpse. The droids left your Masters side as you made your way next to him and squatted down in front of the clones limp body. He was a Coruscant clone with red markings, also bearing a single red target logo on his left chief meaning he wasn't just a cadet.
"This...is Sergeant Simmons, he worked in the Republic Headquarters. From the droid analysis we suspect he has been here roughly 4 months. His amour must have been taken off when he was killed, because the lightsaber markings are only on his body." 'This is it! This is it!' you thought yourself internally. You obviously felt sad in the presence of a murdered and innocent clone. But this could save countless other lives.
"What do we do know?" you asked trying to hide your inappropriate excitement.
"I want you to take him back to accompany him back to the morgue. There is evidence of quite a lot of finger prints. If it is the owner of this apartment. I think we would have found our murderer." he informs.
"Yes Master."
Now you were in the republic headquarters again. You went towards the morgue pushing Simmons along on a stretcher with a sheet over him. You entered the morgue and instantly felt the cold breeze hit you making you shiver.
"General Kryze. Over here." A clone shouted. You went in the direction and pushed Simmons into a designated spot for his gurney.
"Where are the finger prints?" The clone asked.
"I haven't checked. I presume over his armor and his body." you tell him. With special gloves the clone removes the sheet and starts to carefully take off Simmons' armor. As he rolls down his blacks you see the two large lightsaber gashes surrounded by his body stained in his own blood. After everything was removed, he placed the armor onto a conveyor belt. All of the armor including Simmons' body passed through a machine which must be scanning for prints. The medical clone went to the machines operations.
"There are 59 confirmed fingerprints found. I'm sorry General but it will take a few days to process all of them and to link it accurately."
"Very well. I'll be back in a few days. This is a top secret investigation. So, once you get the results. You wait for me." You lied to the clone. If it was Barriss and someone else found out, it mightn't go down the way you want it to.
You decide that since you were already there. You would spend the rest of your night with your legion. Once you got back from your suspension you really felt more connected to the clones. Crys was very comforting, since he knew of your relationship with Ahsoka. And Op as always was your best friend who always sat beside you and truly was himself around you.
While sitting down, eating dinner with the clones. You felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around and to your surprise you saw Rex. Who was stiff and just didn't seem right.
"Rex are you alright?" you ask. All he does is nod his head in the direction of the exit. You trusted Rex, so you nodded in agreement and left your meal. You followed Rex out of the mess till you were alone in the hallway.
"Rex, what's wrong?" You ask with some confusion.
"(y/n)." Rex said, taking off his helmet to reveal his stained from tears face.
"Rex, what happened?"
"It's...Fives."
"What about Fives?"
"He...he's dead."
"Oh Rex." You embraced him in a hug and tried to comfort him. Just as you did 4 months ago when he was told to execute Ahsoka.
"(y/n). It's not just that. I think...I think there could be a plot...to destroy the Jedi."
Sorry this is out a bit late, it may seem rushed and have a few mistakes since it hasn't been proof read and edited. Been really busy lately, but that won't stop me from updating. Hope you enjoy it. :)
