Geralt knew he was an impatient man and at the beginning of his journey with Jamie, there were times where he'd get impatient with her often. But he grew accustomed to her and eventually did not care anymore. This precise moment was one of those times where he did. He was impatient and wanted Jamie dressed so they could get the fuck out of this damn house and away from the sorceress. His own clothes had already been put on, slowly due to the tightness but quickly since he wished to leave as soon as it was possible.

His attention was diverted as Jamie came walking into the room, she wore the same dark fabric as himself but was in a dress. Despite seeing her in a dress before Geralt could not stop himself from staring in admiration, even with his relatively stoic expression. He appreciated her in her pants and tight leather armour, but did not mind seeing her in such a way.

Jamie had glanced over at Geralt, playing with the fabric of her dress before she rounded the bed that held Jaskier. Geralt kept his gaze on Jamie as she checked on their friend. He watched as her small hand pushed back Jaskier's hair from his face, caressing the poor bard softly. A tight feeling filled within Geralt and he shifted where he stood.

Yennefer had been busy eyeing Jamie the most but finally tore her gaze to look at Geralt, "Do you doubt my capabilities?"

"No." Was Geralt's response, in his usual low voice but it was almost strained, "Just your intentions." And then he recalled his last conversation with Jaskier, knowing that he felt regret, "I said some things to him. He's uh..."

"He's a friend." Jamie's kind voice filled in the rest for him, shifting on the bed and allowing the dress to ride up slightly while locking eyes with Geralt.

Geralt could only hold the gaze momentarily before he had to turn away before his heart began to beat far too loudly. Instead he looked to the Sorceress, "I'd like it not to be the last thing he remembers."

"He won't remember much if he's dead." Geralt was not amused by her statement and neither was Jamie, so she just chuckled softly, "It's a joke. He will survive. And recover his vocal talents. Does that satisfy you?"

"Not in the slightest." Geralt followed behind Yennefer slightly, though his eyes were on Jamie. She was looking back down at Jaskier in worry and relief. So Geralt tore his gaze and looked to Yennefer once more, "But don't reproach yourself for it, Yennefer. I'm not easily satisfied."

Geralt heard Jamie release a long sigh, but he refused to look over at her. But her next few words broke his thought process, "That's the seal..." Her throat cleared,
Geralt..."

He finally sent a confused look over to Jamie before finding exactly what she had been looking at, "It's the sign from the seal..." His angered gaze moved back to Yennefer, "We'll be taking Jaskier now."

"If you wake him before he's healed the spell won't take." Yennefer says rather calmly while Jamie slowly got up from the bed, "That's no way to treat a friend, Geralt."

"You want the djinn but the amphora's broken. The djinn is already long gone." Geralt looked to the candles as they lit up, distinct whispers echoing throughout the room.

Yennefer hummed and let her arms drop to her side while shooting a knowing start to Geralt, "Do go on. Tell me how stuff works. The djinn is tied to this plane and it's master. How many wishes did the bard express before he lost his voice?"

Realization hit Geralt, "You need Jaskier to make his last wish so you can capture it."

Yennefer just nodded her head with pursed lips, "So that's... two then."

"The djinn will fight you. If you try and bend it-" A wave of tingles and shivers ran down Geralt's spine, "Ah..."

"Geralt?" Jamie's concerned voice was fuzzy, but he heard it nonetheless. It felt far away and all he wanted to do was reach for her but he couldn't.

"That scent-" Even his own voice felt far away from him, "Lilac and..."

"Gooseberries." Yennefer finished as she stopped Jamie from approaching Geralt, fearing the young woman could wake the Witcher from his trance, "Tough to get in your head. You have a strong will. But you can't contend with me. Sorry I couldn't be direct, I knew you'd fight it." She trailed her hand along his cheek, "And I do love a good old-fashioned trap."

Despite Yennefer's hand being pressed against his cheek, he felt as though it was Jamie looking up at him with loving and sultry eyes. His body swayed, "A good old... fashioned... nap."

Geralt could vaguely hear Jamie call out for him and then there was nothing.

To say he woke up in confusion and anger would be an understatement. Jamie was nowhere to be seen and he could only think of the worse. Geralt did not care how he would do it but he knew he had to get back to that house. He would not leave Jamie there with that woman who was going to clearly use her. Jamie could be in danger. Jamie was in danger.

And that pulling in his chest was back. It was tight as he went stomping back to that house after dealing with being locked in a cell for something he didn't recall. Geralt knew what this feeling was. Worry and something he was not exactly fond to admit. He had been away from Jamie before but he had known she was okay and safe. Not knowing that she was okay or that she was alive was ending him into a fury.

Geralt was so incredibly focused that he almost missed Jaskier running out of the house if it weren't for the fact that the bard spoke to him.

"Oh, Geralt. Thank the gods. I might live to see another day. We need to go-"

"Jaskier-" Somehow seeing Jaskier made him breathe for a moment, someone he knew was alive, "You're okay."

"Well, I'm glad to hear you give a monkey's about it."

"Let's not jump to conclusions." Geralt moved his gaze back to the house and then to Jaskier, "What happened? Where-"

"Well, I was having a rather lovely dream which turned into a nightmare. There were naked women in both parts. The first one was loving, tender, very generous. You can guess who. And the second, significantly more terrifying."

"Jamie." That was who was in his head, Geralt needed to know where she was and assuming Jaskier was referring to the young brunette she- "Jamie is still in there?"

"Yes, with that black haired, scary devilish eyes, who had painted this... amphora on her abdomen." Jaskier overdramatically waved his hands over his stomach, "Jamie had the same one-"

"She wants to be the vessel..." Geralt didn't even finish his entire thought before he went running into the house. He ignored Jaskier's annoyed cries to not go. Jamie was still in that building with that witch. Jamie was going to die. He could not let her die. He would not be able to handle it.

Geralt seemed to stop dead in his tracks at the sight of Jamie curled up on the ground, breathing heavily and partially clothed. The pain could be heard with each breath she took, her eyes were pinched shut and she cried out.

"Don't."

His voice seemed to have drawn her attention because the next thing Geralt sees is her eyes connecting with his. He watched as a tear strolled down her cheek, she was covered in her own sweat, chest moving up and down as she tried to breathe.

Geralt wanted to save Jamie from her pain but he needed to get to Yennefer first for that to work. "I'm here to help you."

Yennefer wheezed out from the pain as well, "I don't need your help. You're free. No longer under my spell."

"You have Jamie." Geralt says slowly and in a low voice, "I'm staying."

Yennefer was able to chuckle under all of the pain, "You seem to want to meet your end."

"As you do." Geralt's eyes move right back to Jamie who had arched her back as she inhaled deeply, "You are bringing Jamie down with you-"

With a grunt, "The djinn isn't weakening. The bard expressed his last wish but it's-it's getting stronger!" As Yennefer released a cry of pain so did Jamie, making Geralt jerk a bit forward.

"That's because I'm the one with the wishes."

"You?" Yennefer gasps, "You're the djinn's master. Then what are you waiting for? You want to leave with Jamie?! Use your wishes!"

Geralt yelled down at her, if Yennefer became the vessel with Jamie still connected to her it would kill them both. It would take Jamie away from him forever, "Becoming the vessel for the djinn will have you lose control, not gain it! Can't you see what this is doing to you and Jamie!?"

"True transformation is painful!"

Geralt looked directly at Jamie as she screamed from the pain, the pain in his chest tightened at the cries coming from her, "Release the djinn! I'll give you my last wish! Just free Jamie from this all!"

"You heroic protector..." She shot her eyes over to him, "Noble dog! Permitting my success so long as you command it yourself. And what of Jamie? She leaves with you, with this kind of magic. She'll destroy herself in due time without guidance. Fuck off! I'll do this myself."

"Damnit, Yennefer!" Geralt was not fond of this woman but it wasn't as though he wished death upon her, "Tell me what you want!"

"I want everything!" Yennefer screams loudly, ripping a scream of Jamie as well. She waved her hand and threw Great against the wall.

Geralt slid down the wall but quickly pulled himself back up. His eyes shifted to Jamie, the scream that came from her was loud and powerful, causing her magic to go haywire and crumble the walls around them.

Yennefer's voice was distorted, "Make your wish! You can have anything you want! You could choose not to be a witcher. What do you desire? Mortality? Riches? Fame? Power?"

Geralt wanted Jamie. Jamie safe and always connected to him. He needed her to be safe and with him. Once the magic in the air dulled, Geralt rushed over to Jamie instantly. He raised her small form in his arms, pulling the dress back over her chest.

"The djinn-" Yennefer gasps, "Where did it go?"

Geralt heard cracking from above them, his eyes shot up to the roof as it began to cave in on the three, he had reached to protect Yennefer and in that moment the three were suddenly in the foyer of the home. Geralt instantly rolled off of Jamie in worries of crushing her small body under his weight.

He listened to her pants in pain and sat up, "Jamie?" He brushed her long hair away from her face, "Are you okay?" He didn't bring his hand from her but looked at the witch, "Yennefer? It's me, Geralt-"

Yennefer shoved at him away in anger, but he didn't budge, "I know who you are. What did you do? You stopped me, didn't you? I nearly had it."

"You had shit all." Geralt glared over at her, "I saved your life!"

"And I saved yours and Jamie's!" Yennefer snaps, referring to teleporting them out of the crushing room, "You let the djinn escape! Who knows what havoc it'll wreak now that it has no vessel at all?"

"No more havoc than you, you almost killed Jamie." Geralt snapped darkly, his voice was dark and angry, yet his hold on Jamie was gentle and kind, "Djinns are only dark creatures when held captive."

"How could you be so sure?"

"When did you last feel happy when you felt trapped?" Geralt looked around the room, "And if you were going to portal us to safety, you could've taken us out of this shit town!"

"A fine critique if you could make a portal yourself. Or if Jamie could, if she were trained she would have been able to teleport you both away. Or better yet, heal your bard friend. And it wasn't a shit town, it was a fine town till you came along. I had a plan!"

"And that was going swimmingly!"

"It was. Like a drowning fish."

"Could you both shut up!" Jamie screams loudly, making the room shake a little bit. She held her head and sent a glare over to the two of them, "Your arguing isn't making anything fucking better, is it? It's just fucking annoying."

Geralt pulled away from Jamie, realizing how he had been holding her, "You almost fucking died! Your damn stunt could have taken your life."

"And I've learned from my mistake."

"You wouldn't have been able to learn if you would have died."

"Does it matter?"

Geralt fell onto his back with a groan, "It does fucking matter. You're just lucky my plan worked."

"What plan?" Yennefer scoffed, "There was no plan. You were making it up as you went along. Any fool could see. What did you wish for? Tell me. Geralt?"

Geralt wanted to stay awake, but as the wave of relief flowed through him so did the fatigue of not sleeping in so long. He breathed in deeply knowing that Jamie was safe and with him before suddenly falling asleep.

Look at this. I have actually updated after not doing that for so long. I am so sorry. Life has been quite hectic since the semester started. I have so many units and so little time. I am sorry though for not updating in so long. I do hope you enjoyed the chapter though.
