Lately Evan has been giving me a lot more freedom. I basically can come and go as I please as long as I stay in the building. The weather was going to be nice today so I planned to go chill at the rooftop pool. I slipped on my bikini and a cover up and grabbed my bag. I peeked in Evan's room and he was sound asleep so I tip toed out. Once I was at the pool I laid down on one of the lounge chairs and slipped on my shades. I laid in the sun half asleep until I was woken up by someone calling my name. I opened my eyes and pushed back my shades seeing Aug standing over me licking his lips.
"Boy go on" I hissed
"Damn, it's like that?" He laughed, pulling up another lounge chair and placing it next to mine.
I pulled my shades back down and ignored his presence.
"Tell me about yourself Miss Layla" he teased.
"Nothing to tell, just a girl trying to enjoy her day at the pool. I said
"Nah see, that bruise on your neck say something different" he whispered, looking at me with sympathy in his eyes. Those damn eyes.
"It's not that serious" I shrugged, moving my hair to the front to cover the marks.
"Anytime somebody leaving them kinda marks on you its serious bahybe" He said keeping eye contact.
"I'll tell you what, imma tell you about me and then you return the fava...coo?" He asked. I nodded in agreement. Aug told me about his childhood and how hard it was. He detailed the abuse he received at the hands of his father. He went on to to tell me about his past relationships and how they had made him kind of cold when it came to love. I was intrigued by his ability to share so freely. I felt like I owed him some secrets of my own.
"You can ask me a few questions" I trailed off looking out over the pool into the sky.
"Why he do that to you?" He asked pointing to my bruise.
"Because he loves me... he's just possessive and has issues controlling his anger."
"That ain't luh girl" he said letting his disapproval show on his normally stoic face.
"You luh him?" He asked.
"I don't know, he was my first and-" I stopped realizing I had confessed a secret to a stranger that no one knew about me.
"Your first?" He asked looking confused.
" I know you at least 25... how long y'all been together?" He questioned.
"Just a month or so" I mumbled.
"Damn girl, you planned on taking that thang to da grave." He chuckled.
"Shut up" I scoffed
"I'm just playin shawty. So he took your virginity and he beat you?" He said shaking his head and pulling the hairs on his chin.
" He doesn't know... I didn't tell him I was a virgin."
Aug looked at me shocked. Right then I felt a shadow looming over me. I turned around to see a pissed off Evan standing over us...Fuck.
