I got into Andrew's car. It was a beat up little white truck, but it still worked and I figured that's all that matters. I put on my seatbelt and looked out the window as Marilyn waved us goodbye. Uh oh. I was alone in a car with Andrew. Let's see how this goes...
"So, Josie, is it? What do you do with your family for fun... Um. What do like most about your mo... Oh. I'm sorry, let's just not talk. I can't read while I'm driving anyways." It was a long drive, longer because not a word was said. The scenery was pretty, though. it was nice to finally get out into the open air. My father never let me. "Here we are!" Andrew excitedly said as we arrived at a little market, a little run-down and old looking. We went to the fish first, then the milk,then the fruits and vegetables. We went to the bread last. The baker was very generous and gave me half a loaf of bread, claiming I looked like I needed it. I tried to thank him as much as I could. After getting the food, Andrew decided I needed to see a little of the town. Next thing I know, we're at a beautiful park full of luscious trees and gorgeous butterflies. We sat down on the nearest patch of grass available, side by side. "You know, Josie, my mother died when I was young too. It was hard for me, growing up without her. But moving in with my grandma has helped, she's like a motherly figure to me."
I wrote to him: I understand. She's been so welcoming to me... I'm sorry if I intruded your space by coming in. That wasn't my intention.
" You didn't intrude. It's just that I was surprised to see you there, that's all."
Well, thank you for being so open to me coming in.
He grabbed my hand. "I'm here to help you. Anything you need, you let me know."
