Why am I being played so?
Sometimes so bored
I can't even sleep
counting sheep
only mildly discontent
but for that ticking behind me
--always behind me--
offsets my heart
through ugly whispers-
no time to be bored
look out this window,
egg on a dry and cracking branch

so bored yet I shove the opportune pen away,
push aside inspirations for bedsprings
tick tick
be still my heart,
we beat strong yet
and may we be motivated
on the morn.
