治癒過程 . healing process

MENDING BROKEN BONES was a bitch to deal with. Your body was capable of fixing itself over time thanks to your cursed technique and it certainly made life easier but healing bones was another trial of hardships you didn't want to endure.
It had only been a day but you did your best to mend your body of its wounds. It was certainly taxing on your own physical energy but it helped speed up the whole healing process. Megumi had come by your room several times during the day to ensure you were okay despite him being in just as bad condition as you.
"Do you need anything? Water? Pain killers? Fo—"
"Megumi."
He stopped immediately, his concerned eyes landing on you. A soft, gentle smile laced your lips as you looked up at him, his eyes meeting yours. "I'm okay, thank you for the concern but truly— I'm okay." You laughed lightly, watching as he looked away with a tinge of red on his cheeks, mumbling something you couldn't quite hear.
You recalled meeting Megumi for the first time around the age of eleven or so. Yaga had you living at the school for protection's sake and recall meeting a very young Megumi with Gojo.
"Who is he?"
Your eyes trailed to the dark haired boy before you. His hair was unkempt, his face was dirty with grime and his arms were covered in bruises. His dull eyes met yours, a darkness lurking within them that caused your body to shudder.
A young Gojo chuckled softly, pushing the dark haired boy forwards despite his obvious discomfort. "His name is Fushiguro Megumi. He'll be attending the school like you one day so Yaga wanted you two to meet one another."
The boy lifted his hand, waving silently to which you awkwardly lifted your hand and waved back. Gojo patted his back, urging him to speak to which the boy froze and looked to the ground.
"Fushiguro... Nice to meet you..."
He held out his hand, still looking at the ground and refusing to meet your gaze. You sighed, gently taking his hand into yours. Immediately, you noted how rough his hands were, presumably from the scuffles he has been in with all those bruises.
"(l/n), nice to meet you as well Fushiguro." He nodded quietly before drawing his hand back to himself.
"Now now, you two are going to be classmates soon so let's show some enthusiasm! I have some business to attend to so feel free to chat~" Your eyes widened at Gojo's words but before you could utter anything out, he had vanished.
You slowly turned back to Megumi who was kicking the rocks at his feet, obviously uncomfortable with this whole situation. You took a sharp inhale and decided to do your best and keep the conversation going.
"So.... Do you have any family?" You questioned, looking at him carefully for any sort of facial expression.
Megumi's eyes averted away from yours, finding interest in the ground. "I have a sister. My parents are dead." Oh— great job (y/n) You silently cursed at yourself, feeling incredibly uneasy.
"Yeah— I get that."
What the hell is wrong with me? You thought, your words certainly weren't making this any better.
Megumi looked up at you, confused. "Really...?" Megumi questioned, eyeing you. You gulped, suddenly finding interest in your nails. "Well, my mom is dead... and my dad—he doesn't like me very much."
The dark haired boy looked down, nodding. "My dad named me 'Megumi' without taking my gender into account. He was never around and I don't even remember what he looks like."
You awkwardly laughed. "Guess we both have daddy issues huh." Megumi chuckled lightly, turning his head towards you. He extended a hand with a small smile lacing his lips.
"Let me introduce myself again,
Fushiguro Megumi."
You grinned, taking his hand into yours and shaking it.
"(l/n) (y/n), nice to meet you Megumi."
You snapped back to reality as Megumi said your name repeatedly, a worried look in his eyes as you quickly waved your hand in front of you to assure him that you were fine and was just daydreaming.
A pout emerged on his lips, pink visibly dusted his cheeks as he muttered quietly about your dazed behavior. You laughed, rubbing your neck sheepishly. "Sorry, sorry! I was just thinking that's all..."
His dark eyes met yours before he said. "Do you think Gojo will be able to convince Itadori to fight with us?" You raised an eyebrow at him.
"Itadori isn't one to back down from what I've seen. I doubt he'll just accept his fate so easily." You rested your chin in the palm of your hand, looking up at Megumi. "He would save everyone he can in a heartbeat— you saw it yourself."
Megumi nodded. "The higher ups want him dead though... this is a risky decision." You rolled your eyes at him. "Well, the two of us don't want to see him dead and I'm sure Gojo-sensei wouldn't want him to die either."
Suddenly, your phone started to beep. You quickly turned it up to see a message from Gojo that read, 'ready to go' to which you showed Megumi and he nodded. The two of you picked up your packed things within the house that the school had provided and quickly rushed to the mortuary that Yuuji and Gojo were at.
The cityscape of Sendai whipped by the window you were looking out of. In your mind, you pondered whether Yuuji had made the decision to fight or to die. It made you anxious thinking about it. He put his life on the front line yesterday, demonstrating his willingness to give his own life to ensure the safety of others so what would he ultimately choose? In the end, he will have to die anyway.
You truly didn't want someone like him to die. He is a good person. He didn't deserve to be dragged into this whole debacle. He could've lived a normal life— hell, he seemed like he was having a great time yesterday at school. It's not fair.
"(y/n)?" Megumi's voice broke your train of thoughts. Your eyes fell on the white building outside of your window and nodded at him. You guys have arrived and Yuuji's decision is waiting to be heard by the two of you.
The winding halls of the building made you dizzy. Mortuaries always made you a bit sickly at the thought of the numerous dead bodies present in the building.
You trailed behind Megumi, subconsciously clinging to his sleeve as thoughts ran rampant in your mind. Megumi spared you a quick glance, gently running his fingers through your hair to reassure you. He was well aware of your dislike towards morgues.
When you two had arrived at the room where Yuuji and Gojo were in, you heard them speaking.
"Sounds like a fun hell awaits! Make sure you're packed by the end of the day." Gojo's voice rang loud and clear from behind the door. To which he pressed the button to open the door, revealing you and Megumi.
"Wait where are we going?" Yuuji asked, perplexed.
Megumi stepped in and replied in a monotonous voice, "Tokyo."
Yuuji brightened upon seeing you and Megumi, giving the two of you a thumbs up. "(l/n)! Fushiguro! You guys look so cool!"
Megumi clicked his tongue in distaste to which you giggled. Megumi was covered in bandaids over the wounds that weren't fully healed by you whilst you had a few medical bandages over your arm.
"You really think so? In any case, you're being transferred to the same Jujutsu school as me and (y/n)." Yuuji tilted his head in confusion, raising an eyebrow at Megumi. "Huh?"
Gojo explained, "Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu Technical School— Jujutsu Tech for short. You'll be enrolling as a first year along with our three others."
"T-Three other?!" Yuuji's eyes widened at the number. "So I'm the fourth," he muttered to himself. "Why's the number so little?"
You smiled at him, laughing in response. "Well, not a lot of folks can see cursed spirits to begin with. Even if they can, some don't choose to fight them." Yuuji nodded, muttering something on the lines of 'so I'm one of the chosen ones huh'.
Before leaving Sendai for good, Yuuji was permitted to visit the cemetery in which he said his goodbyes to his grandfather. You watched as he muttered a few prayers to the stone grave, supervising him while Megumi and Gojo were back at the car waiting for you two.
You watched as Yuuji stood up, saying one final goodbye before facing you. He walked over with backpack in hand before tilting his head in confusion. "Is something wrong (l/n)?" Your eyes widened a bit in surprise before laughing it off. "Hm? No."
Yuuji eyed you carefully, a very visible frown on his face. "You looked like you were in deep thought." Ahh, he's pretty perceptive. You thought to yourself.
"Just, reminiscing about something." You hummed quietly, looking up at the bright sky above.
A distant memory of you burying your mother's body invaded your thoughts. The sky was dark, the angry clouds were pouring rain. An umbrella divided you and the onslaught of the rain. Principal Yaga stood at your side, gently patting your back as you stared blankly at the grave.
"(l/n)...?" You snapped out of your thoughts and met eyes with the concerned Yuuji. Panic swelled in your heart which prompted you to step back instinctively.
Yuuji's gaze never left yours, his eyes round with worry. "Ah, sorry... I was just thinking about something."
A soft chuckle left his lips, a smile replacing his worried frown. "I wanted to make sure you're okay."
Heat rose to your cheeks at his words before coughing to break tension and saying. "Let's head back," in which he nodded and followed you back to the car where Gojo and Megumi awaited you two.
The trip back to Tokyo was uneventful. Megumi and you rested most of the way there as you two were still recovering from the injuries sustained that night. Gojo was snacking away as usual and Yuuji was too busy admiring the scenery beyond the window in absolute awe.
Jujutsu Tech resided within the outskirts of Tokyo, behind the many trees and nature that concealed its location. Cicadas sang their monotonous song as Yuuji, you and Gojo dredged forward through the shrubbery and summer heat. The sun beamed down as Yuuji twirled around in awe of nature.
"This is really deep in the mountain! Is this really Tokyo?!"
Gojo chuckled at his words, grinning at Yuuji's childish antics. "Even Tokyo's like this on the outskirts."
Yuuji looked at you before glancing back at Gojo. "Where's Fushiguro?"
You laughed quietly. "Megumi can't heal his own body like me so he was sent back directly to the school."
Yuuji raised an eyebrow at your words. "What do you mean 'can't heal his own body like me'?"
Gojo interjected, "(y/n) can use her cursed technique to heal people and her body naturally regenerates much faster than most."
Yuuji's eyes widened in awe before looking at Gojo. "Does that mean I can do something like that too?!"
You stifled a laugh but nodded at him. "I'm sure you can."
Even if Yuuji wasn't gifted with any sort of inherited techniques, surely being Sukuna's vessel meant that he could learn Sukuna's techniques? The thought pondered in your mind for a moment before it was interrupted with Gojo's explanation of the Jujutsu world.
"Tokyo Jujutsu Tech is one of the only Jujutsu educational facilities. On the surface, it's known as a private religious school. Many Jujutsu shamans and sorcerers continue to work there after graduation so these schools are considered a pillar in the community." Gojo explained as they walked down a winding road near a creek, one that led to the entrance of the school.
They walked up the stairs with such ease compared to your lagging self behind them. Your stamina was never very good even as a child and it certainly did not help having walked all the way back to the school from central Tokyo. "Anyway, you're about to have an interview with the principal."
Gojo smiled at Yuuji who glanced at him confused. "The principal?"
You quickly rushed up the stairs to keep up with them, panting heavily. Gojo noticed and laughed at you. "Missing home, (y/n)?"
You huffed, rolling your eyes at the white haired sorcerer. "I thought I should tell Yaga I'm back."
"Who's Yaga...?"
You turned to Yuuji with a smile. "The principal so don't screw this up, Itadori, he's a bit of an asshole so go all-out."
Yuuji's eyes widened, pointing at himself. "H-Huh?! If I don't pass— what then? Immediate execution!?"
You let out an airy laugh, shrugging at the pink haired boy. "Who knows! Don't mess up and good luck!" You waved 'goodbye' to a very panicked Yuuji and towards the temple to say 'hello' before heading off for the dorms.
You pushed past the doors of the temple to see Yaga sitting at the back with a numerous number of stuffed toys and plushes. Only a lantern and a few candles illuminated the darkness of the temple. Yaga looked up, his usual gruff exterior was focused on the felt toy he was working on until he heard your delicate footsteps.
He looked up, seeing you enter the temple and closing the doors behind you. A smile laced his usual frown.
"I'm home!" You announced, walking towards him with a smile on your face to which Yaga nodded. "Welcome home (y/n). You ought to be quite tired, why don't you go rest?"
You beamed, nodding before you walked over and embraced him. Yaga let out a quiet chuckle and patted your back gently. "Tired?" You nodded in response.
"I'll read the report later. Go rest for now."
You smiled, "thanks old man."
The face of displeasure on Yaga prompted a laughter from you. "I'm not that old— now go before I use one of these on you." He patted the head of one of his cursed plush which caused you to quickly leave before he would actually set off those horrifying things on you.
Wood creaked beneath your feet as you walked to your dorm room. The familiar smell of bamboo reached your nose which caused your muscles to relax. You turned the corner and saw the familiar patterns of your wooden door, a sense of relief washed over you as you turned your doorknob and entered.
Everything was the same, it was a welcoming sight. Relief washed over you as you plopped onto the bed without a care in the world. A giggle left your lips as you propped yourself up and quickly organized the clothes you bought with you into drawers and headed for the room next door.
You knocked a few times, awaiting a response. Nothing.
Maybe he's asleep? You thought to yourself, turning back to your room before you heard Megumi's door creak. "(y/n)...?" He said groggily, rubbing his eyes. You turned on your heel and laughed at Megumi's very bad case of bed hair. "Good afternoon sleeping beauty, I'm home now."
He rolled his eyes at you before walking back into his room. You followed him inside to see that the stuff he bought to Sendai was still packed.
"Did you just get here?" He asked to which you nod in response.
"How are your ribs?" You asked, looking around to notice some bandages on his bed counter.
"Not bad. Your technique healed the majority of it." You smiled at him gently, watching as Megumi slowly sat at the end of his mattress.
"Do you think he'll pass?" You asked quietly, shuffling your weight from one leg to another.
Megumi sighed. "Dunno." He looked up at you. "You really want him to pass huh?"
You bit your bottom lip, "Well... I don't wanna see someone like him die."
Megumi nodded before patting the bed space beside him, inviting you to sit down to which you obliged. "He's too nice. Too good. He doesn't deserve to die." You muttered quietly, slumping your head against Megumi's shoulder.
"You're saying that because you're in a similar situation." Megumi replied, gently patting your shoulder.
You sighed heavily, Megumi's right. "Still, he didn't do anything wrong."
"Neither did you. You two both deserve better." You felt a wave of anxiety wash over you as you recalled the elders telling you your fate, of which you were to die for the sake of the clan.
"Thanks Megumi..." you muttered, looking down at your hands. You heard him quietly hum, rhythmically patting your back in comfort. Innocent calm washed over you, embracing the moment as your eyes fluttered shut.
