A warrior and a elemental, they know they must strive to be the best queen they can be. Neither of them is prepared to kill the other, but a queen does what she must and in the end, the rules of the island may be more binding than the bonds of sisterhood. Meanwhile, a naturalist girl grows up with a secret: that the drowned oracle queen may not have been an oracle, after all. But can she truly make a difference, and does she want to, when queens are supposed to be monsters?
