everything's a side effect when you have cancer. you've got a cough? it's cause of the cancer. your boyfriend of three years dumped you? it's cause of the cancer. you're feeling depressed? it's that damn cancer again.

    but, no one ever tells you the good side effects; the ones that made marnie wayward's last few days worth living. the exact same ones that made her think that, instead of lung cancer, she had heart cancer because she was a billion times sure her heart wasn't supposed to beat this fast. 

    but it did. all because of him.
