Christian Miralles, just your average Mexican kid, lives in Tamaulipas, a state that is currently occupied by the Federal Republic of Texas, in a town along the Rio Grande. You see, when Christian was young, Tamaulipas, which was originally controlled by Mexico as a state under the Mexican Constitution, was occupied by Texas, due to the rising cartel activity, and Mexico's increasing struggles to control states that border Texas. Christian, like everyone, thanks Texas for coming in and improving their lives when Mexico couldn't, but Christian takes it one step further: he wants to move to Texas and get away from the cartels. However, his family has connections to a cartel from the area: the Gulf Cartel, something Christian knows. Christian also knows his father tried to get his family away from it
Things go south when Christian and his sister Carmen shopping for groceries, a terrorist attack rocks the marketplace of his hometown, killing 3 Texan soldiers, 5 civilians, and injuring more soldiers and civilians. In the confusion, Christian's father, the one who got the family away from the cartels, goes missing, and his mother is found dead in their home, shot multiple times. Only he and his sister are the only ones left alive. They later get relocated to San Antonio by the Texan Army, and they are put in the care of James and Samantha McElrath, who gives Christian the Texan life he dreamed of.
Years later, Christian, now taking the name McElrath, is a soldier in the Texan Army, and is back in his childhood hometown as part of the peacekeeping force. He learns from an old friend that his father is still alive, and the terrorist group that attacked the marketplace all those years ago is still active in Tamaulipas. When off-duty, he searches for answers to what has happened, and soon, he will learn a major revelation, one that was not supposed to get out...
