"She'll be back in a week." Jack offered quietly when it became apparent Alex wasn't going to say anything. He shook his head. "This time was different, she took all her stuff with her." He took a large mouthful of the amber liquid and grimaced. "Told me she never really loved me. It was just about what I could give her."

Alex and Lisa have always had a pretty turbulent relationship but they've always made it work. This time it's different though, this time things have gone too far and Alex is convinced there's no way back. Jack's just trying to be a good friend and help him pick up the pieces; if Alex happens to catch a few feelings along the way that's totally not on him.
