Auli's plans to return to her home country and put her mother to rest could not have been thrown more off track. But she has one goal in mind, and she has already had to survive on her own as a deaf woman in a male-dominated society, so raging wars, near-death experiences, scheming drug dealers, and an oddly attractive siren trying to murder her will not get in the way. Vlaedoka, a siren, has always had one dream. When that dream is finally offered to them as long as they manage to kill one measly human, it becomes their life mission. If only the human they were sent to kill wasn't so persistently cute, and if only their heart could stop fluttering when it glanced their way. As they are forced to work alongside the human they are meant to kill, they begin to wonder. How different are humans and sirens anyway?
