Drunk laughter echoed through the empty halls lined with dimly lit torches. She let out a quiet breath as she checked for any passerby before continuing. Even if the guards never did their proper rounds, she still had to take precaution. She knew the servants lived for gossip. And a stranger going through the castle unwarranted would definitely be a topic of interest. She thrived on staying in the background, hiding in the shadows, she wouldn't risk attention to herself. She stopped at the familiar door and she made sure no one was around. Her hand hovered over the handle and she steadied her breathing. She wouldn't fail this time. The door opened, hardly making a sound. Her eyes found the bed where he should have been sleeping and she let a string of curses fall from her lips. The prince wasn't in his bed.
