In a future, where humanity is divided into uneven casts, there is one ship that acts like a beacon of light for those with a red stamp in their ID.

Rin has been cast down into a second-class citizen position because of a medical assesment. Now he has to find his place in a society he was taught to hate and be disgusted with. Yet, he finds that it is much more appealing than he could ever imagine.
Nikolai is the captain of the most famous ship in Human SOI - Hopestar. It is the only space liner operated by the stamped. Despite being an beacon of hope and the myth surrounding him, he still struggles with the demands of a commanding position and ever-present self-doubt. Can he keep the crew from falling apart when trouble hits?
Devon has been a steward for several years but perhaps wasn't completely honest with himself about his own feelings. What should and should not be allowed, when you live outside the 'norms' of the society?

This is the voyage of Hopestar, as experiences by three members of its crew.

Before the fall of Earth humanity built a great colony ship, ten thousand of the colonist left Earth for a hundred year journey to Gillespie. They came from all over the Earth leaving a planet knowing they would never see another in their lifetime. The Ark is a rotating cylinder the size of a large island with its own train system. It's divided into three main sections, the city, the framlands, and the Lowers. The people are divided into three groups as well, Uppers, Middles and Lowers. Uppers are made of elite scientist, Astro-crops, bureaucrats they made up about 3% of the population. The Middles are are the farmers, the guard, teachers, doctors, the food processors, clothes makers and of course the mechanical maintenance workers. They make-up the 97% of the 10,000 counted citizens. The lowers are criminals and children born to un-paired parents. They live separated from the middles and Upper. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Finn has an honourable position; personal servant to the monarch of Cafi, a small country off the coast of France. He also has not-so-honourable a position; a man in love with another man, in the early 1800s. Oliver is being forced towards marriage, and Finn is being forced towards accepting his love is unrequited. As France begins to fall into another revolution, the world begins unravelling around them. Oliver has to fight to maintain the democracy he established, and Finn must cope with the reawakening of his less-than-ideal past as a con artist in the search for his long-lost brother. The two must learn who to trust and who not to trust as they begin to know each other more deeply than they every thought they could. Content Warnings Applicable to This Story: This book is set in the early 1800s, and I don't want to avoid talking about the horrendous things that happened to people of colour then. It will talk about slavery, but from a firm anti-slavery perspective, never glorifying or making excuses for it. Cafi itself is a fictional country and while I absolutely believe they would have had slave trade too (because most places did and I don't want to pretend they didn't), I want the book to include Oliver's fight to abolish slavery in his country. Otherwise, there may be previous mentions of abuse, but it will be extremely mild, nothing graphic, and the chapter itself will pre-warn you. Oliver's relationship with his family can be problematic at times. Please take care of yourself during any chapters that may be triggering for you.

A dutiful, ace soldier from Mars faces a dilemma. She can accept an offer from an infuriating gen-eng man from Venus, grab her loyal cat + dig up her inner rebel and maybe become the first human to explore the Galaxy. OR she can keep flying security on the cruise space ships. Did I mention the man from Venus has an unbearable personality and nearly got her killed on Jupiter? Daaaamn! I got cocky and wrote a space opera, yes, with aliens and fast spaceships. Become a part of the audience so small, it's exclusive! First published: long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Now updates as a lite novel with AI art.
