I am a freelance writer and creative writing educator, helping people from all over tell their stories, as they do the same for me.

My characters wrestle with real world problems, they just aren't always limited to this world in order to see them through.

My themes involve social justice and rarely ever use cheap and easy solutions to astounding issues. I try to resist labels, but there are elements of horror, paranormal, humor, and mystery braiding into my writing, most of it suitable for anyone to sit down and read on a rainy afternoon with at least one eye open .

Recently I have rekindled a longing to return to poetry, in particular poetry that shares the message that God loves real people, and faith is tough, but worth it.

Yoda is my absolute favorite character. Amazingly, Groot is coming in a close second. I am a Survivor Junkie, as well as all things Sharon Draper and Jane Austen. The students in my life--the quiet ones you have to worry about, the ones who pretend they're working, but are really on WATTPAD, the ones with black nails, the ones who fall asleep to the sound of bullets, the ones who go home and cut themselves and come to school with a smile on their face and long sleeved shirts, the ones who breathe oxygen, and the ones who hate me just because I am a crazy writing teacher---they're all my favorites.

This is a poem that came to me as I reflected on how broken I am in the midst of God's Big Love for the world https://www.wattpad.com/story/104657180
