Chapter 12

Haris and Mariam were now sitting in their room

Mariam was unpacking his bag feeling his eyes on her

"Mariam.....come here" Haris said interrupting her work

"I'll just do this then coem you go to sleep" Mariam said

Haris stood up and went towards her taking her hands in his

"Why are you avoiding me?" Haris asked while she shooked her head

"I'm not" Mariam said looking everywhere except him

"Oh really" Haris said as he took a little step towards her

Mariam nodded her head

Haris took her hand in his and made his way towards the couch present in the room

"Sit here" Haris commanded and she obeyed him

He sat infront of her on his knees and made her look at him

"Now tell me why are you avoiding me?" He again asked the same question

Mariam just looked down and didn't reply her eyes started welding tears which Haris noticed

"Why are you crying mon amour?" Haris asked

"I can't believe that you are standing on your own" She said and started crying

"Hey hey don't cry Mariam look I'm here infront of you, I'm alright what happened huh" Haris said but she wasn't answering and continued to cry

Haris couldn't look at her crying and was confused as what to do in order for her calm

He couldn't think of anything else and hugged her while telling her to calm down

After a while she was now silent so Haris pulled back

" you know...you look like a red tomato right now" Haris said and laughed

Mariam looked at him offended and looked aways from him making faces

"Why? Are you angry ?" Haris asked with a small laugh

Mariam just nodded

"Really" Haris confirmed

She again nodded

"So you are giving me silent treatment huh?" Haris said playfully

She again nodded and was about to get up when Haris started tickling her making her laugh but she still wasn't talking

"Talk or i won't stop" Haris said

"Okay okay stop please " Mariam pleaded laughing hard that tears came out of her eyes

Haris stopped and looked at her smiling

"I love you" He said out of the blue making Mariam choke between laugh

She was coughing so Haris quickly gave her a glass of water whish she gulped immediately

"What?did i imagine something?" She asked Haris and he smiled looking at her

"No Mariam i mean it I love you, i have loved you from the day i had saw you i couldn't confess because i was afraid that you'll reject me because i wasn't even able to do my own work..... but now i have the gathered the courage and I'm telling you that i love you, truly by my heart I've only loved you and there will only be you no other person can take your place" Haris's confession was Making Mariam emotional

"You accepted me when no one could have ever did, you did everything for me, you became my best friend, my companion, My other half, You helped me complete my half deen, and now I want to spend the rest of my life with you Mariam..... I want to have children with you, I want to grow old with you, I want to look at you when you'll have gray hairs, i want to spend every year, every month, every week, every day, every hour, every minute, and every second with you Mariam..... Will you accept me as your husband?" Haris asked her and her face was full of tears, Tears of gratitude

She nodded her head and said "Haris, I love you too... i have loved you from the moment you stood for me infront of Baba and Ujala, and I would love to spend my whole life with you, i can't imagine my life without you, you know when you were gone a day felt like year to me, i couldn't sleep when you were not beside me, i have never been loved after my real parents died, baba and Ami would always treat me like some sort of maid, you know i had a job of teacher, i used to love the children there, one day my colleague Asiya who was also my friend took me to a mall with her..." She took a deep breath

"She took me with her and Baba got to know, he came to the mall and grabbed my hand and started dragging me with him, when we got home he beated me with a belt, and resigned from my job, after that my life was messed up and then you came, you might think you wasn't able to do anything because you couldn't walk but no Haris, you bought a new change into my life, you gave me a mother, a father and a brother..... you gave me a husband, best friend and I'm really greatful to you for that, i love you Haris from the bottom of my heart"

Mariam completed and Haris was looking at her with adoration

He kissed her temple and thanked her for accepting him the way he was

After talking a little more they both went to sleep in eachother's embrace with a contended smile on their faces knowing that it was the beginning of their new life....
