"My dear Ayla please come in" the count, her father said as Ayla knocked the door.

"You always find out, don't you?" said Ayla taking his palms and placing it between hers.

He smiled "Why have you come to visit this crippled blind old man?" He asked.

"Why do have to say that all the time as if 'crippled blind old man' is your  title? You are the Count and Liege Lord of Luntburg" she said

"I am going to give away my title to you, don't you remember?"

"I know that. Father you shouldn't say such things about yourself. Okay?" She begged

"Alright. Tell me why hasn't your Reuban still met me and asked for your hands?" He interrogated

"He will. Soon" Ayla said

The Count turned and looked at her as if he was looking straight into her eyes but he was blind "When? I don't know how long I'll be available. He cannot ask me at the purgatory"

"Father don't say such things or stuff linen in your mouth so that you'll not be able to speak at all" she said angrily.

"You can stuff my mouth but you cannot stop what is going to happen" he said sadly.

"Nothing is going to happen to you as long as I am here" said Ayla controlling her tears.

"Let's just not talk about it. Now I want Sir Reuban to meet me" said the count

"He looking after the construction work. I tell him" she said

"I want you to inform him that I denied your marriage with him" he said plainly

Ayla felt a pang in her heart she tried to convince the Count "Father I thought you liked Reuban, he is the reason why Luntburg is safe, you and I are safe. Why would...

Before she could finish the count interepted "I didn't say I deny your marriage I just told you to inform him that i said so"

"Well. What difference does it make?" She asked confused

"I'll leave that to you. Just find the difference later. Now go inform him" the count said smiling at her

"I don't understand father" she searched for an answer

"I thought you are an obedient daughter" he said mocking her

"Okay. I will inform him. But you don't mean to refuse our marriage, do you?"

"Ayla. Why haven't you still left the room. By now the news must have reached him. Now go my dear"

Ayla left the room. 'I don't get the difference. Will I be married to him? I never want to loose Reuban. Never ever. Father will not do anything that I'm not happy about but I jus.. just don't get it' she thought
