The Moorhouse Murders

David and Catherine Birnie murdered up to four women, between fifteen and thirty-one years old, all the way back in 1986. They took their sweet time and committed the crime over a span of five weeks.

In these five weeks, they didn't abduct four women, but five. Kate Moir is the name of victim number five. She escaped the day after her capture by climbing through a closed window and breaking its lock, however, she hit her head on the concrete. After knocking on various neighbours' doors, she jumped a gate and was attacked by a dog. She managed to flee and ran into a vacuum cleaner shop on 10 November 1986. She explained the situation to the shopkeeper and the police were called afterwards.

All these innocent girls were raped and murdered (except for Kate), between the sixth of October and the tenth of November

There are speculations that the Birnies committed three other crimes, but there was no proof. They both had to serve twenty years.
