Maggie Santander

40 and floundering -- got plenty of good things in my life, but I'm not where I'd expected I would be at this age. I owe it to that young Maggie to go after her one abiding dream, which is to be a published writer.

I've had plenty of bylines, both in my maiden name and in my married name. I've worked as a writer and as an editor. Nonetheless, until I finally have an actual book to my name, I would always feel undeserving of the writer title. That standard is just for me, however. I've always been too harsh on myself. Please don't let this personal sentiment take anything away from you.

How incongruous that I chose this time in my life to finally knuckle down and go after my childhood ambition. I'm a homeschooling mom to three children, all of whom are on the autism spectrum in varying degrees of severity. I'm perpetually bone tired and there are always too few hours in my day. Turning 40 had me in a panic, however, hence this resolve to actively work toward published authorship (based on my definition, of course).

I was a Spanish teacher in a past life. I love tea, sweets, train rides, nature, and Jeopardy. I bird and garden whenever I can. I'm valiantly attempting to create a food forest in the exterior space of my tiny row house. Also, I'm an introvert who can be painfully awkward at social encounters.

Having bared all that, I hope Wattpad can help me realize my childhood dream. I hope you can be part of my journey toward this goal. Certainly, I hope to meet others who belong to the race that knows Joseph. I hope, period.
