It’s Asian and Pacific Islander Stories celebration this month, and since many people keep forgetting I’m Asian, living in Pacific Islands, I thought I’d bang my own drums today (even if I’m fairly invisible here.)
I’m a proud Nepali. I write stories I love, and recently, I’ve decided I’m done whitewashing my characters just to be accepted/seen. Going forward (since last year), I’ve resolved to only write my main characters as diverse people with at least one of them being Nepali. This journey for me started with one of my most favourite books I’ve ever written, THE MYSTERIOUS DISAPPEARANCE OF DEVI DHUNGEL.
It’s a cosy mystery and romcom married together, and I got to write a fun duo, Devi and Hector. It takes place in a small, fictional Aussie country town. (Why Australia? Well, that’s because this coin is my home now.)
I’d be chuffed if more people read it/tried it out:

And for a fully Nepali story, try my (ongoing) contemporary romance/romcom blend, PLACES WE WILL GO (on my profile). I’ll resume this story in a few weeks.
Thanks for now. ❤️
