"Ah, the lovingly hateful paradox that describes the human existence. Tell me child, do you know where you fall on that thin line between depravity and success? Do you know of the pointlessness of your meager existence?" A tone of malice underlied the softness of his voice making this stranger a man who knew of pain and had no complications with inflicting it on others when he saw fit. Strong, powerful, fearful; this man was everything that Alexander wished to be and he knew that no simple answer would obtain him his true desires. Just as his future, this needed to be planned, calculated, and answered with the utmost care. Taking a deep breath, Alex forced down the nerves bubbling within his stomach and met the man's hate-filled gaze with his own unwavering glare.
"I am neither, I am both. I exist in ideal and yet exist none at all. I am life, I am death. I am the in-between. I am what is known and yet cannot be seen. You call this distinction a line, but I call it a life; a life relative to the person living it. Where I fall is my own calling that resides within my own understanding of their differences. For is a man claimed dishonestly successful not deprave? And can the depraved always live a life of success? Your categorized line does not exist, it is a mere circle showing the pattern of semi-causational relationships." The man stayed quiet for a few moments until his auburn eyes sparked in excitement, clearly amused by Alex's response.
"You... are a very interesting human indeed. Very well, I shall take you under my wing and show you the true wonders of this world, young philosopher." As the man's hand was offered, Alex took it with a firm nod, knowing that this would be the one decision he would never regret...
And he never did.
