“If you keep resisting, I won’t be as forgiving to any trouble you cause this time.”

Chen Sinan’s eyes landed on her long white legs as he continued to blatantly examine her body. In a relaxed tone, he replied, “Whether I do or don’t see …”

“Aren’t you afraid of what will happen to your image when you say stuff like that?” Xin Siyue threatened, wanting to slap his stupid face even more.

Chen Sinan grabbed her hand and smiled. “You can’t even control hands. It’d be better if I tied them up.”

“Don’t you dare!”

Xin Siyue increasingly felt like prey as her instinct to flee rose. She was a sheep waiting to be slaughtered. He caught both of her hands and even went so far as to seize control of her legs too. She couldn’t escape even if she wanted to.

“Chen Sinan, I’m warning you! Let go of me!”

“I can let go… but you need to answer a question first.”

“Why do you have so many questions?”

Chen Sinan did, in fact, have a lot of questions. He looked intensely at her. “What’s your relationship with that young man?”

“What young man?” The moment Xin Siyue asked, the color drained from Chen Sinan’s face.

“If you don’t say his name, how will I know who it is?” Xin Siyue asked bravely.

“So you’re saying there are lots of attractive young men that you talk to?”

Xin Siyue was utterly speechless. “How do you always know?!”

Chen Sinan pouted and quickly thought up a plan. He would eventually teach all of them a lesson, but Xia Qiao was first on the hit-list.

“So you’re pretty close with Xia Qiao?”

“Yeah, I’d say so.” Xin Siyue responded nearly automatically. By the time she realized what she had said, she could see the roaring fires had been lit in Chen Sinan’s eyes. He looked ready to slaughter someone.

Xin Siyue was frightened and urgently tried to explain. “No, no, no! I’m not that familiar with him. I’ve only spoken to him a couple of times.”

Chen Sinan observed her, trying to weigh the truth in her plea.

Xin Siyue smiled sheepishly. “I’m honestly not close to him. Seriously!”

Seeing her state, she had no relations with the young man, he was satisfied. “Stay away from him.”

“Oh.” Xin Siyue gave a half-hearted reply and wondered what the man in front of her was trying to pull. But it wasn’t like she had agreed, either. After all, it was her right to talk to whomever she damn well pleased.

As Chen Sinan observed her bright eyes hinting at the whirlwind of her thoughts, he knew that Xin Siyue was thinking of a way to go against him. He said, “If you’re brave enough, keep on giving him mixed signals then.”

Xin Siyue laughed. “Who’s the one sending mixed signals here? Forget Xia Qiao and me. Don’t you see how strange the two of us are with each other? You know what they say, ‘men and women should keep their distance.’ Now let me go!”

“Men and women should keep their distance? Didn’t seem like you cared before when you were chasing after me.”

“Don’t think of fooling me! Even if I did so in the past, I still never touched you,” Xin Siyue quickly replied.

“You seriously believe that?”

“I just…” Xin Siyue could barely finish her sentence. She could feel how serious he was. “So, now what? You didn’t lose your memory?” Chen Sinan asked after a moment of earnest thought.

Xin Siyue suddenly realized that she had divulged the wrong information. She racked her brain, trying to find a justification when her train of thought was interrupted. “You better explain properly.”

Xin Siyue was enraged by his sharp gaze and struggled fiercely, gaining her freedom at last. She slipped to the leftmost side of the car, right by the window, gaining as much distance as she could from him.

Chen Sinan’s breathing became heavy, nearly furious with the way she avoided him like the plague. “You never lost your memory, did you? You were probably saying it all this time to save face.”

Xin Siyue lowered her head and arranged the hem of her skirt. She smiled and said, “You can think whatever you’d like. I mean, it doesn’t affect me in any way. But Chen Sinan, I honestly hope that we won’t have many chances to sit down and talk.”

Chen Sinan stared at her, only to see that she met his gaze. “You have someone you like, and business to attend; why are you wasting both of our time? My wish has always been a simple one. I just want to live a quiet life. Even if it’s impossible, couldn’t you at least give me two years? Chen Sinan, I don’t think we need to talk about why I came to A City again.”

“Don’t come to A City anymore, Chen Sinan.” Xin Siyue said her body full of determination.

Chen Sinan looked deeply at her. “And what if I still do?”

Xin Siyue turned to look at him. She helplessly smiled. “Then I can only bother my brother to send me to a school further from here.”

Chen Sinan sighed deeply and let his incomparably heavy expression sink further.
