The next day Hermione went back with Lyra and Oliva, Lyra volunteered so that her mother wouldn't be alone and therefore she had dragged her friend along
But not before taking her wand away
"Dame mi varita" Oliva ordered
"No, I don't trust you with magic" Lyra said
Oliva stomped her foot and crossed her arms, she looked like a spoiled child that had just gotten in trouble for the very first time
"Come on girls" Hermione said
Hermione knocked the door and it was opened by her mother
"Oh Hermione...I'm so sorry about yesterday" her mother whispered softly
Jean hugged her and kissed her cheek, she pulled away and turned to Lyra
"Why do you have red hair?" Her mother asked surprised
"Scorpius" both Lyra and Hermione responded
Jean tsk'ed before kissing her granddaughter's forehead and turning to Oliva
"I'm guessing you're Oliva?" She asked
"I am, it's a pleasure to meet you" Oliva said, curtsying slightly
"Pleasures all mine, come come, everyone's inside, when will Draco and Scorpius join us?" Jean asked
"Tomorrow at the latest, George had asked the boys to check out a property for WWW and Draco decided to go with them" Hermione explained
"Very well, be prepared" Jean warned and led them in
"Finally came to apologize?" Celine asked
Lyra placed a hand on Hermione's wrist
"Whose this?" Celine asked, eyeing Lyra with distaste
"This is my daughter, and that's her best friend" Hermione explained
"Hm...where's your husband? Or your son?" Celine asked
"Working" Lyra responded
"So work is more important than family?"
Everyone looked at the entrance, and saw Elaine standing there with her arms crossed
"You would know" Hermione stated
"I took the vacation days that I have gathered at my firm to come visit my family, you have avoided us for years Germy, so actually I wouldn't know what it was like to put my family second" Elaine spat
"Girls" Jean warned
Hermione took a deep breath and motioned Lyra and Oliva into the living room
Oliva and Lyra sat down across Hermione's second niece — Daniella was her name — who was reading a book and had her headphones in
"Esta familia es peor de mi mamá, creme cuando te digo que prefiero estar con ella—"
"We speak English here" Samantha said
"Si tuviera mi vara yo te—"
"Oliva" Lyra warned
Oliva huffed and composed herself
"Looks like Lyra has a girlfriend, a pathetic girlfriend" Samantha pouted
"Solo un maleficio?" Oliva pleaded
"No" Lyra ordered
Oliva pouted again
"Leave her alone Sam" Daniella ordered as she closed her book and removed her headphones
"I'm sorry about Samantha, she doesn't know that she's sixteen and not four" Daniella sighed
"Well at least I'm fun and not a suck up" Samantha spat
Daniella rolled her eyes in annoyance
"Al menos no voy a matarla" Oliva muttered
"English!" Samantha yelled
"Why don't you shut your racist arse up and go shag one of your billion incompetent boyfriends!" Daniella yelled back as she stood up
Both girls started yelling at one another, Oliva and Lyra glanced at one another
Oliva gave her a cheeky smiled and Lyra rolled her eyes
"There's no place like home" Oliva sighed contently
"You're so weird" Lyra told her
"Watch your mouth Daniella!" Elaine yelled
"Don't talk to Danny like that! Your daughter probably started it!" Katherine yelled at her
Hermione moved behind Lyra and Oliva
"Mind telling me what happened?" She asked them
"Well technically it's Oliva fault"
"It's not" Oliva muttered
"It was Lyra's fault, she comes here with her girlfriend and she only talked in Spanish" Samantha spat
"Not my girlfriend" Lyra said
"You wish Lyra" Oliva smirked
"This is a family reunion Hermione, I thought you were a stickler for rules" Celine accused
"She is family, she's dating my son and she's my daughter's best friend" Hermione said
"Well she shouldn't even be here" Elaine stated
"These fights only get worse" Jean sighed
"At least they aren't trying to poison one another" Oliva shrugged "at my family reunion we had competitions to see who could brew the worst poison" she giggled, Lyra, Jean and Hermione looked at her as if she grew three heads
"What?!" Lyra exclaimed
"What? No one died" Oliva stated "well...at the last reunion" she added
Lyra sighed and shook her head while muttering under her breath
"It's all your fault" Samantha sneered at Lyra before storming away
"You always ruin everything Germy!" Elaine yelled at Hermione before storming after Samantha
There was a loud bang and the room when silent
"Danny—" Katherine began
"I said I didn't want to come mum" Daniella interrupted before leaving
"What happened between you and Elaine?" Hermione asked confused, last she remembered was that Elaine and Katherine were thick as thieves
"You would have known if you hadn't been such a coward" Katherine spat before following her daughter
Hermione sighed and looked to the ceiling
"Mum?" Lyra asked
"I'm okay" Hermione whispered softly
Lyra got up and hugged her mum, she wished there was some way that Lyra could show her family that her mother was an extraordinary mother and wasn't a coward but the bravest woman she had ever had the opportunity to meet
"Just a few more days" Lyra whispered softly
"Just a few more days" Hermione confirmed
