Adria had replayed the seen in her mind countless times– she had defended herself against Cruz. If she could master a few basics, it was simply all she needed to help herself out in any situation regardless of the person. As she eyed Johnny Lawrence through the window her thoughts raced with multiple thoughts. There were no dojos around the area, let alone cheap enough for her to afford. With her mother's inconsistency, there still posed a threat of needing to pay the bill at random occurrences and the prestige of some of the clubs in the neighborhood were far too high up for her.
Her wrist had begun to bruise– how Cruz had held her wrist so hard unbeknownst to her, but the pain had subdued since that night as she snuck back into the house and iced her wrist. As she glanced down, she couldn't help but be reminded by what had occurred– she was lucky to have had an option to run. But she knew sooner or later it wasn't going to prove easy, and if Robby's friends were still lingering around them, she knew they were especially not going to let up any time soon.
That night had sparked an idea in her mind, the bruising on her wrist a visible tell- tale sign that she needed defence more than ever. Part of her knew the man probably did not believe her when she mentioned how these guys were harassing her– she seemed far from the type to get involved with anything remotely physical. If someone were to threaten her for her phone, she'd hand it over no hesitation.
He had physically seen her interaction with Shawn in the face of a predicament that day in the diner. She needed to make it real.
If anything, she hated lying– but the only consolation for her actions came when she knew she was simply jazzing up the truth. Mariana had already left early for a morning shift, her door carelessly swinging open as she purposely made a ruckus as she exited their house. Valentina had claimed she had work– another feeble attempt to seem responsible. But when Adriana peeped out of her bedroom window, which viewed the outside street, her mother's figure entering Mr. Mills' car was the confirmation of her doubts.
She had the place to herself.
Sneaking into Mariana's bedroom, the strong scent of overpriced perfumes with lingering marijuana (or perhaps something stronger than that) welcomed her into the overly glamourized bedroom. Mariana had pieces of sparkly jewellery scattered along her bedside table, expensive sunglasses covered in rhinestones hung along hooks and purses that screamed 'rich' layered neatly along her vanity. Her bed was neatly made, her heels placed in line underneath her bed frame. Framed photographs hung around the walls, and an overly large frame of her and Derek sat right next to her bed. The photos all seemed more provocative than not– club scenery, over- filled drinks, revealing poses. Adriana scoffed at her sisters lifestyle, her eyes wandering over the room in somewhat surprise. There is no way her Hooter's job pays for all this, Adria thought, her hand tracing over the glamourized jewellery. Upon the ground was a fluffy carpet, nearing the wardrobe that had been left half open. She could see bright neon colors, sequin tanks and rhinestone covered skirts and accessories glinting from the minimal light pouring in from the window. Adria reached over, her hands pulling at random pieces of clothing, all that appeared fun and outgoing.
Since moving, she hadn't entered Mariana's room once, but it came to no surprise she had had the opportunity now seeing as her sister was absent. Her mind had snapped back toward her goal, as she abruptly turned toward the vanity, pulling open random drawers. She could see the numerous stacks of makeup, a foreign thing to Adria as she curiously glanced over the different powders and liquids. Upon seeing a red pencil, Adria lifted it to her face, leaning in close toward the mirror.
If she was going to convince him to teach her karate, well, she needed to look the part. Cautiously she drew along her cheek, smudging the strokes into her skin. Glancing down she noticed the red blush, as she instinctively blended the powder upon her cheek. Surely this is enough, Adria thought as she glanced herself over in the mirror. It's not like he'll notice the little details anyways.
