Chapter 2: The Heist

Skylar's POV

'Nice camera. Where'd you dig up that relic?'
'Why don't you just use your phone?' JJ and I ask Pope as we all stand behind the fence while the rain soaks our clothes as we wait patiently for Ward to show up.
'Well, first of all, I like my antique electronics. Second of all, this is a telephoto. It allows me to get a close image from far away' Pope replies rudely
'Lord of the dorks' Kie mutters next to me and I chuckle
'For definitive proof of witness payoff, we're gonna need quality glass-There he is' Pope says as we see Ward jump out of his car and runs towards a building under construction
'Yo, get down' JJ whispers and we all crouch behind the fence but not so low that we can't see. Another rumble of thunder echos above us as Gavin suddenly joins my ex-dad.
'And there's Gavin. Where are you going, you son of a bitch?' Pope mutters as he looks through the cameras lens.
'No, no, no, no. I'm losing him' he continues as the two men run into the unfinished building,
'Shit. Where's he going?' Kie asks and I turn around before noticing something on the side of a nearby building across the one Ward and Gavin were in.
'Hold on a sec guys' I say leaving the fence and running up to building. I look around the side and I see a ladder that heads up to the roof. Yes, this wasn't over just yet. I put my mouth in the position my boyfriend taught me and I whistle to get my friends' attention.

'Hey. I found something. Come here' I whisper. The all run towards me and I point to the ladder.
'Up here' I say
'That'll work' Pope agrees
'Great job Babe' JJ says pressing a kiss to my head.
'Hurry. Don't wanna miss anything' Kie says as she starts to climb the ladder behind Pope. JJ and I follow her and once up there we run over to the edge and look over. It was a perfect view but the rain was making it hard.
'You rolling, Pope?' J asks
'Are you getting it?' Kie adds
'Yeah. Yeah, I see them' Pope says as he looks through the camera.

'Ward just handed Gavin something. I think it's a duffel bag'
'Guys, I think this is a payoff' JJ adds
'Definitely' I say

'Gavin doesn't look happy about something. It looks like he's yelling at Ward' Pope continues and I I can only just see two blurry figures facing it other through the rain
'Why?' Kiara asks
'I don't know, but he sure looks mad' Pope says while the rest of us try to work it out from a distance

'Shit! Whoa, whoa, whoa' Pope suddenly declares slightly moving his eye away from the camera
'What's going on?' Kie and I ask
'I dunno. They're fighting over something' Pope says and when I move water out of my eyes I can see my dad holding Gavin in a headlock.
'They're going at it' JJ says next to me.

'Ward's kicking the shit out of Gavin' Pope adds
'Why are they fighting?' I ask
'I don't know'

'Holy shit. Ward's got a gun' Pope says. I gasp and I start to fiddle with my fingers as the nerve kicks in.
'I bet that's the murder weapon' Kie says, her eyebrows crossed in anger. We watch Ward a bit longer and then all of a sudden.
BANG

'Oh my God. Oh my God' Pope almost drops the camera
'What the hell?' JJ ducks down
'Holy Shit' I gasp dropping behind the edge with JJ
'No, no, no, no' Kie cries
'That did not just happen'
'What is going on?'
'Tell me you just got that' JJ says turning to Pope who had by now hidden behind the edge.
'Enough to put this asshole away for life' Pope replies with a smile, happy that we can finally bring Johnny home.

BANG

Another gun shot goes off but I'm to afraid to look back while the others looks back over
'This is freaking crazy' JJ mutter seemed to me
'Oh no. Get down. Get down' Pope says and they all hide away again
'Holy shit' Kie says
'What happened?' I ask
'Ward looked in our direction after the gun was thrown away by Gavin' Pope informs me
'I think we should go right now' JJ demands and I can see he's shaking. I put my hand of his to help calm him and I look at pope.
'Pope, you have enough, right?'
'Yeah. Wait, Hold on. He's coming out'
We all turn around again and catch Ward coming out of the building.
'There he goes. I think he's looking for the gun' Pope says. We watch Ward as he runs past us towards the drain
