TBATE Duality

Chapter 24

Jade Leywin POV

| 8 Months later |

"Heads down!" I yelled as I sent a dozen ice spears forward against a group of mana beasts, Jasmine, Art and Mai ducked and my spears flew right above their heads skewering the beasts

We were inside an A class dungeon called The pit of fists and I have to say the name was spot on, the dungeon was full of these apes like mana beasts with round bodies spiky fur four limbs and a tail (A.N. for reference it's mankey the Pokémon), while they didn't possess elemental magic they were insanely strong and nimble for the B class

Since they're capable of dodging pretty much anything we threw at them I started conjuring illusions nonstop to distract them or having the others stay in front of them in order to obstruct their line of sight so I could skewer them

"Phew, this place is proving more annoying than I thought" I voiced

"Yeah, these guys go down easy once you hit them but they dodge everything" Art added

"Well as long as Jade doesn't skewer us we can deal with them" Mai remarked

"Oi! My aim is perfect okay, I didn't even hit a strand of your hair" I said angry

"Let's get the loot after that will continue" Jasmine put a stop to our bickering used to our antics by now

In these months we developed this weird friendship where we would basically pick fights and bicker with each other all the time, for some reason she made me act childish

After collecting the beast cores and the fur we proceeded further in the dungeon, as we found another group of these fighting monkeys we engaged them in a fight until I heard a rumbling noise, looking around I noticed many of the monkeys surrounded Mai and started stomping on the ground

Using my seismic sense I saw a massive pit going deep into the dungeon and Mai was standing dead center, as the monkeys continued stomping on the ground cracks started appearing, at this they all jumped and slammed their fists on the ceiling causing a localised cave in

"Watch out!" I shouted as I used wind magic to propel myself towards Mai, grabbing her I tried to move both of us but the rocks were already on us so I casted a wind barrier around us to avoid getting crushed

"Kuro! Mai!" I heard Art yell

Falling down I used bursts of wind to remove the rocks around us and slow down our fall, as we landed I jumped sideways to dodge the incoming rocks above us

*BOOM*

"Cough cough, I guess we can't just climb out" I said looking at the pile of stone that completely sealed the pit we just fell down from

"Can't you use [Shadow step]?" Mai asked

"Unfortunately no, first I need shadows to be interconnected to travel long distances and from how long our fall lasted we are pretty deep down, second I can't take other people with me and I'm not going to just leave you here" I explained

"Then I guess we can only proceed forward and hope to find an exit" she commented

"Yep, let's go"

Going down the tunnel, which was illuminated by some stones giving it an eerie atmosphere, we reached a wide cavern, it was circular and had a diameter of at least 100 meters with the ceiling being around 70 meters tall, at the side were several ledges of stone

"SKREEEK"

Several screeches could be heard as we entered the cavern and some mana beasts started flying out from the ledges, they were roughly humanoid resembling women but had talons for feet, bird like wings instead of arms and were almost completely covered in feathers
