DEAR DIARY,

IF YOU TOLD ME A YEAR AGO that my life would forever be intertwined with the world of vampires, wolves and witches, I would have laughed in your face. I moved away from Mystic Falls after my parent's death to get away from all the drama, the pitiful stares, and just the suffocating weight of the town in general.

But returning a few months later, I've come to realise it's much worse now. People look at me like I'm some selfish little girl who abandoned her siblings in their time of need. Maybe they are right to judge; I did leave Elena and Jeremy by themselves to grief.

And every day I regret it, but also don't. Moving to Kentucky for a few months was the best decision of my life, I was happier there, probably because I wasn't constantly reminded of the fact that my parents were dead.

When Elena called me and begged me to come home, saying she needed her older sister back, I was hesitant. Why would I go back to the town that I hate?

But after she explained about all the mess she got herself into, I knew I had to be there to help. I couldn't turn my back on my family, no matter how much I despise the little town I grew up in.

And that's how I got into all this. And as much as I want to leave, something keeps me here and I don't know what.

It wasn't until strange dreams started haunting my nights, featuring a mysterious figure whose face remains elusive that I realised why I stay. A man who I've never seen before plagued my brain, yet I find myself drawn to these dreams, wondering who this man is and why he keeps appearing in my subconscious.

At times, it feels like he's reaching out to me, his presence lingering long after I wake. We talk for hours about anything. He told me about his family, and let's just say they aren't the most normal bunch. I know most things about him.

I don't know why but something in me told me to stay in Mystic Falls.
