Compliments.

My problem is I will never believe a single compliment anyone tells me, but I will believe every insult.
Because compliments can so easily be faked,
Meaningless words coming out of one's mouth.
Why should I expect anyone to think I'm pretty when I don't think so myself?
Insults about my appearance have been chipping away at me since I was too young to realise what was happening,
Breaking every noteworthy piece of me, leaving me under confident and full of self hatred.
So I'm sorry for not being the 'strong little girl.' They remember.
