“Baba wants you married off as soon as possible, Amal.” Raheem dropped the news to Amal. She felt her heart stop, she couldn't help but wonder why everything was going downhill for her. Khizr ruined the idea of marriage for her, she does not want to get married ever again.

“Bhai, I don't want to—”  Amal tried to refute the idea, only to be cut halfway through by her brother.

“There's no way out of this now, Amal. Baba is adamant on it, be grateful he hasn't married you off  to one of his partners’ children like he did with me…” Raheem stopped her in the middle of words. “Don't worry, I got permission from Dad. He gave the responsibility of finding someone for you to me, so wipe your tears and stop worrying. For now, let's focus on getting you out of this marriage. ” Raheem engulfed her in his embrace, patting her back and triee to reassure her.

It gave her some sort of relief knowing her brother was the one picking someone for her, not her dad. Though, she wasn't planning on getting married and she knew her brother would find a way out for her after this marriage is over. She had other things to focus on.

As time passed by, Amal had already told him every little detail of her past month in his brother's protective embrace. Though, she left out the parts where Khizr had misbehaved and tormented her because she didn't want to add to her brother's hurt. She was out  of Khizr's house so why should it matter anymore anyways. She tried to assure herself by playing oblivious, but failed miserably. How could she forget those traumatic events that had been giving her nightmares even after she had left.

Suffocated.

That's how she felt.

After tossing and turning around for a good thirty minutes, she decided to get up and go into the balcony to breathe some fresh air. Just as she entered the balcony, her eyes landed on the phone that happened on the dressing table and so she decided to walk back into the room and grab it along.

She sat on the hanging bubble chair, and finally opened Khizr's messages that had been left unread for 2 weeks. All seemed to have been either threats or sweet manipulation messages, this man shocked her to the core. Always maintained his toxic traits, no matter what.

A thought crossed her mind and she searched his name over Google but to her shock, the net was only filled with good things about his conglomerate and its achievements over the years. No mention of any controversies, which she found very weird. Even her father was a businessman, yet he wasn't saved from being dragged into controversies by the media.

‘He must've paid them a lot of money to cover his actions’ She tried to make sense of it.

Amal was about to put her phone away when her gaze landed on a photo of Khizr, bringing many memories to her mind.

“Wese mjhe toh nahi pata tha ke yeh Khizr itna acha dikhta hai, Uncle baatein aisi krte hai iske baare mein ke lagta hai pata nhi unki age ka koi buddha hoga.” Amal rolled her eyes when she heard her friend, Hooriya, analyse the photo of the man her father just cussed a few minutes ago, in front of everyone in the living room.

[By the way, I didn't know Khizr is this young good looking man. Uncle talks about him in such a way that it seems as if he's talking about an ugly, old and obese rival who is of his age.]

‘A scene,  it was.’ Amal sighed, dejected.

“I don't understand, why is Uncle raging against someone who's literally closer to his son's age?” her cousin, Ayza, added.
