Chapter One.

"Harry Styles and Victoria's Secret model Amara Everdine have reportedly split," a woman's voice blared throughout our conference room. I struggled to pay attention, as my eyes constantly wandered to the faces of my co-workers who watched the "breaking news" with wide eyes, some smirks on their faces. "Sources say the pair have filed for divorce, which will be finalized within the next two months," she said. "Close friends of Harry say that the businessman is having trouble coping with the divorce, and has buried his nose in his work and countless women," she said making me scoff. It's amazing how your friends would even sell you out for a quick buck when you're famous. "While Amara's lawyers say that the split was a mutual decision, Style's lawyers are saying the split was her decision. What are your thoughts?" the screen went blank as soon as she said that and all eyes turned to my boss, Josephine.

"This is the biggest story since the royal wedding and I want one of you to cover it," she said, her hands coming down to smooth out her pencil skirt. "Getting the full details on this divorce and what it's doing to Harry Styles can land one of you on front page, and a nice little promotion," she smirked. That's when hands flew up everywhere, but mine remained placed in my lap. Of course, landing front page and a promotion sounded dandy, but this was a rather large project Josephine was setting us up for. Getting full details of this divorce meant lots of research and getting in touch with a bunch of people who are close to the pair, and demanding the concealment of the truth until the issue is published. That would be quite hard to do, seeing as many magazines and blogs were covering this story. Harry and Amara have been the hottest couple in the world for nearly two years, and their split came as a shock to the naive minds that actually thought they'd last forever. "Whoever manages to get the most sources and proof will have the spot," she said.

Everyone exited the room as if it were on fire, leaving  me behind to pack up my things like a normal human being. Of course, I wanted nothing more than to have a spot on the front page, but the coverage Josephine wanted was going to be rather tricky for anyone to get. "I'm hoping you'll consider it," her voice spoke as I headed for the door. "You didn't seem so interested in this job," she folded her arms across her chest and leaned against the table. Was it that obvious that I wasn't interested in covering the one story that everyone is covering? I gulped.

"It wouldn't make sense to publish the same story that's been in the mags for weeks now," I swallowed, "Their entire divorce is a bunch of he say, she say bullcrap. And I'd rather not get ridiculed for publishing a bunch of lies," I said. If we'd all take a moment to be honest with ourselves, the stories circling in the media couldn't have been the truth. Their "sources" had to be people claiming to be close to the pair, when they were just a bunch of wannabes looking for their chance at ten seconds of fame.

"I want you to cover this story," she walked over to her briefcase.

"With all due respect-"

"Let me finish," she snapped, handing me a sheet of paper. "these are hangouts and a list of guaranteed sources that can help you get the full details of this divorce," she said. "You cannot deny that he has gotten out of control since the announcement of the split. Photos have surfaced everywhere," she said. "I've seen some of your work, I know you can make this into something worth reading, and I'd hate to have to give it to one of those morons out there," she nodded her head toward the many people scrambling around the office. I wondered why no one was actually thinking about how we'd get slammed, or no views at all if we didn't publish something fresh; something worth reading. "At least think about it and get back to me, okay?" she said.
