" When angels fall with broken wings
I can't give up, I can't give in
When all is lost and daylight ends
I'll carry you and we will live forever, forever'"
-When Angels Fall, Breaking Benjamin

The song from my dreams rung through my head all day. It was like someone had pressed repeat. Over and over and over again, I heard the song until I felt as though I couldn't take it anymore.

At school the next day Carmen, Josie, and Madison all crowded around me. The three of them looked at me in worry.

"What?" I grumbled, shoving my books forcefully in my locker.

"Are you okay?" Josie asked, raising one perfectly waxed brow. "You seem..." she watched me snatch books out of my locker angrily, "...agitated."

I sighed. The reason for my agitation was something I couldn't share with my friends.

"I'm fine, you guys. Really."

Josie and Carmen nodded. Madison on the other hand gave me this look that said she completely did not believe me but we'd talk about it later.

"So is it true?" Josie asked, her voice taking on a hard edge as her blue eyes turned icy.

I was taken aback by the sudden change of attitude.

"Is what true?"

"Were you the girl twirling around with Riven at the Masquerade Ball the other night?"

I looked over at Madison who was looking at Josie with disapproval.

I sighed. There was no need to lie. Josie knew it was me. She helped me pick out the dress for Heaven's sake.

"Yes, it was me."

Josie's jaw clenched. "Why?" she asked, her eyes portraying the hurt she felt. "You knew I liked him, Siberia."

"I know. But he asked me and I couldn't exactly turn him down at the party his family was throwing."

Josie frowned and opened her mouth-probably to argue with me-when I got this head splitting headache.

'Her blood can open up the Heavens
Her blood can bleed the dirt
Her blood is the key to split the Heavens and curse the angels to fall to earth
Her blood is the key, her blood is the key
Her blood is all that can stop him
Her blood is the key'"

I groaned in pain and grabbed my head, trying to make the pain stop. Instead, it only grew worse, more intense.

"'Her blood can make the dirt bleed
Her heart can set them free
Her blood is the key
But her heart belongs to me
Will she set them free?
Will she come for me?"

I could see Josie, Carmen and Madison's worried faces hovering above me. I could feel the cool floor beneath me, but all I could hear was that song.

"'Her blood is the key
It sings for me
Will she set them free?
Will she come for me?
On a night as cold as ice, she will bleed
Opening the Heavens, watching them fall
No one can resist the siren's call"'

I came to the conclusion I'd only been out for a few seconds. When I came to, Raveena and Riven had joined my friends and the five of them were staring worriedly at me. A crowd had gathered around, and I heard a teacher pushing his way through.

Principal Greenwood took one look at me and his eyebrows furrowed in worry.

"Miss. Lane, are you okay?"

I tried to speak, but almost immediately a splintering headache crashed down on me again.

"'Come on, darling, set me free
Come on, darling, all you've got to do is bleed'"

The voice in my head was worst now. It was stronger. Although it was beautiful, it sounding almost like it was taunting me.

I felt myself being lifted into a pair of strong arms. I could hear the low rumble of Riven's voice as he spoke to the principal, but I couldn't make anything out.

The darkness began to take over, but not before I heard the taunting voice singing.

"'Let the sky grow black, as angels fall like stars
Let their wings burn, let them cry as they realize how far from Heaven they are
Won't you be a rebel?
Come on, Siberia, have some sympathy for the devil.'"
