I guess one day you’ll wake up
And wonder what went wrong
Then you’ll retrace your steps
Because to that Christmas Eve night
We were standing outside my door
As the snowflakes danced in the wind
One hand in ypur pocket
Interlocked with mine
And the other wrapped tight around my heart
That was the night it all went wrong
Because you told me you loved me
And without my permission,
My heart turned to glass
And I was only fifteen feeling like
the main chracter in every Sarah Dessen book ever
Because he said ‘I love you’
And there was you
And there was me
And there was us
And it waslike the Taylor Swift song
I guess she was right
But I guess I was wrong
Beacause I tried to hold you
But you disapeared through the gaps between my fingers
Leavign no trace of you
No trace of me
No trace of us
So one day, when the snow was gone
And the magic left the skies
One day, when all that was left
Of that night was the cold
And the night sky reflected the pavement
That day, I scapped out all the courage
Left in me and used it as the honey for my tea
And with your heart in one hand
And your words in the other
I went to return both to their owner
Because as much as you claimed them mine
I knew they were both meant for another
I woke up the next morning
And promised not to love you
But I saw you in the sunrise
And tasted you in my coffee
So I left the house trying to escape you
Only to realize that the scarf I wore
Was once yours
And that scarf became a noose
And your scent carved your name on my lungs
That was the day love decided
It would be harder to breath without you
That’s the thing bout love
It makes it hard to breath
It makes it hard to speak
And when you’re fifteen
It makes ‘I love you’ easy to believe
It’s a prison cell with bars made of gold
Makes you feel wanted
Calls itself your home
But I swore I’d never let it win
And as quickly as I could
I ripped our poisoned love from my heart
And back to the ditch it had come from
Today I woke up and I swear I don’t love you
The sun rise is just a sun rise
And my coffee tastes of autumn
But in the third drawer of my dresser
That noose full of you remains
